It's an awesome game but very difficult to get into. It will take a bit of patience (then again I am a somewhat patient person at times...) to get the basics down including crafting among other things. The learning curve is steep but once you get over it, you can't get enough. The unique thing about this version is that the monsters tend to interact with each other (mainly fighting unless they belong to the same group). Sometimes I like to do a bit of commentary when the boss monsters encounter each other and start duking it out. You can then just jump in and finish the winner without having to do much work.

He did say that the price doesn't matter. As long as he is comfortable with it, I don't see a problem.

Yep, that's basically when I stopped playing Fortnite as well - just so I can avoid using the launcher. In addition to that, their store UI is buggy and lacks a lot of basic features and is basically one big mess.
