StormyFire
Do you think that in the future (over the next 10 years or so), PC gaming will grow or decline? Why do you think so? I stongly prefer PC gaming, but unfortunately, I think that the price of some parts like graphics cards will cause more people to go for consoles. skyfire
VR has potential to make the PC gaming turn into arcade gaming era. But VR is expensive it would take 15 years minimum for completely destroying PC gaming.
Justin11
Since not everyone can afford it, PC gaming will still be in-demand. Unless you see majority of the poor turning over night rich people, then majority will migrate to using more VR than PC.
skyfire
VR would be affordable in next 5 years. And the thing is that with each year the VR involvement would be good for the eyes too. There is a lot of development going on for the same.
StormyFire
Many PC games can be played with VR, though, and PC runs games far better than consoles generally can. Thus, an increase in demand for VR would logically increase the demand for PC hardware, or so I believe. ^^
skyfire
PC is not just for gaming it has multi use. but using dedicated machine like console for gaming is suitable only for 1st world. so that argument only survives in 1st world. rest of the world continues to use PC for multiple use cases. Kane99
If anything, consoles are becoming more and more like PCs. The big thing is this though. We may see streaming take over in the next 5-10 years. Which means we could see less consoles. I don't think we'll outright get rid of pcs, but I think consoles gaming will change a lot. skyfire
I think with small chips able to deliver the strong performance. I think in near future handheld based devices can get more power and exposure too.
Empire
VR will continue to be a gimmick. It is not going anywhere. I think that gaming as a whole will continue to spiral more and more to a sterilized / mainstream formula of games targeted towards twitch streamers in the format of either very highly competitive/social games or very casual/laid back games with the emphasis on driving media platforms like Twitch which continue to grow more and more every year. This means that the best games will eventually become games that provide the best stream content. We are already starting to see this, especially with games like House Flipper. The Blackangel
PC gaming isn't going anywhere. It's probably the most popular platform to game on, above the big 3. So I don't see anything ever replacing it, nor do I see it dying no matter what comes into the fray. AndreiMirfi
skyfire
Only thing that may die these days is the retro boxes in shopping mall. they have been going extinct in some 1st and 2nd world market already. AndreiMirfi

They're not going anywhere either. And you're also wrong about them going extinct. They are still selling almost as well as they did the day they launched. skyfire
The malls that I am going around lately has no more of those boxes. They are taking the place in storage rooms now. I suppose this may vary based on places.
The Blackangel
True. If I remember correctly, you don't live in the US right? If so, that would most likely be a big factor.
