Johnbonne Reviews was my review channel, now used to upload Let's Plays whinging about just about everything. Currently I'm playing Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, and afterwards I plan on playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds. Not video gaming as such, but I also do D&D session recaps on this channel. Neither are monetised (if there are ads, it's due to copyright issues with music) and I only really make the videos for my darling, but if anyone's interested in watching the content, here it is.

    Please share your reasons.
It really depends for me. For example, I play games like solitaire, chess, and bridge to keep my mind sharp and engaged. I play sports related games like Madden and NBA because I am a sports fan and enjoy competing with and against my favorite players and teams. I play games like PUBM, Battlefield, and Call of Duty because shooters are fun and very social.

I play because it's a break from the real world. And I can be whatever I want to be through games. It can't get any simpler than that.

I have to say A Boy And His Blob on NES. It's absolutely crazy. There is a blob that needs your help getting back t its home planet, Blobonia. In the game you feed the blob different flavored jellybeans to turn it into different forms like a ladder and an umbrella, so that you can traverse through everywhere and get him home.
That's one of the things I love about the era. Risks on the part of the developers.

    1985
Games had style, originality, and uniqueness. Developers were willing to take chances back then. Sure some games were flops, but a hell of a lot were massive hits. Nowadays, everything is a damn sequel. I can probably count on one hand the number of people here who remember waking up early on weekends to play SMB or Duck Hunt. And the kids who had more games than that, were rock stars. Everyone wanted to be their friend.

Best year for me, would probably be 2010. I'm pretty sure that's the year RDR1 and Skyrim came out. Or maybe Skyrim came out in 09, but either way, I remember those games being huge hits that year. There just seemed to be a big influx of great games released around that time. Of course I know some will list years earlier, but I think 2010 was it for me.

I would have to give it a tie between the Game Cube and the Wii. The Game Cube was just uncomfortable as hell, and the buttons were in a completely fucked up location. The Wii was just worthless. I played it a bit for a while, but that whole controller scheme they came up with was sickening.

I heard today is Atari's 50th birthday. It's been a long history of ups and downs, but lately mostly downs. Atari isn't what they used to be, sadly they haven't been the same company since they were producing games and consoles. I don't even know who owns the company anymore, as its changed ownership so many times over. The new company that owns the name, released a new console that has been mostly forgotten since release.
Even though they are no longer the same company, there is still some cool history there. I just wish Atari would stick to making games and not worry about devices. The current Atari is not the Atari we know, and I don't think they will ever be.
What are your favorite memories about Atari?

Which is your favorite Kirby game ?

Mine is Kirby N64 Crystal Shards, this is the only kirby game that was actually different from the others since you could combine powers and create different variants like thunder and boomerang got you a light saber or fire and spike got you a fire bow and arrow.

The discount (or freebie) would be nice for previous owners (which can be proven more easily with digital ownership than physical), and it's not like the companies doing these things can't afford to do it. I've no strong opinions on the subject really: it's only business.
The good thing about these sorts of scheme is that if I want to play the original there's next to nothing stopping me, and the original must've been good enough for it to get a re-release in some fashion. If it was a bad game it wouldn't stand a snowflake's chance in Hell at being remastered. Even all the harumphing about The Elder Scrolls games is nothing compared to the sales figures before mods entered the equation. My point is that I can get the original used or heavily discounted elsewhere; Sony will make more from a single - and more expensive - copy of the remaster than they'll lose from a used copy.

There's only one game I play that was redone, and that's FF8. I play it on my Switch, and the new graphics are amazing. The detail and slickness is simply phenomenal. But that said, I wouldn't pay for a new version of RDR2, just because they include a feature that lets you return to New Austin without having to worry about bounty hunters and Pinkertons. It makes no sense. Now if they were to release a DLC code that got you tons more free stuff, and extra stranger missions, I would go in for that.
All in all though, there has to be one hell of a perk to get me to rebuy the same game I've been playing for years. Unless my disc gets trashed and no longer works, I'm staying where I'm at.
Also, considering that with only a small handful of exceptions, being a classic gamer pretty much means that I won't have to worry about it. I don't see SMB2 being remade any time in the future.

If it’s a port or HD remaster, I find it pretty shady. If it’s a full on remake, I’ll gladly pay full price.

If it includes all of the DLC released for the game on-disc, or is a complete remake of a game I liked from 2 or more generations ago, I'm generally ok with it.

Nintendo does it all the time when they sucked the wii u dry of it's exclusives and nobody seemed to mind that and nintendo knows damn well they can get away with it because nintendo fans happily open their wallets and pay full price again.
I personally don't mind it aslong it's priced accordingly and it has all the dlc incluced on the disc but even then i'll probably hold off until it goes on sale.

It really depends on the price, for some I'm happy to pay (Chrono Cross was I think 20 eur), for others that blast up the price to 79 EUR I just see them as money grabs and wait for a summer/winter sale. Luckily my backlog is huge so I don't mind waiting a year or two to play FF7 Remake part 1, 2 and 3 in some type of a deluxe edition.

    I have two:
People who flip flop their opinions from one polar opposite to the other in a short amount of time. The reason why this annoys me is because they usually make it a big deal and everyone should know whatever they’re talking about is trash. Then a week or two later they have to announce to everyone that it is now the greatest thing ever. It’s also not unusual for them to revert back to hating it.
    1 make up your mind
2 stop being over dramatic about it

My second one is when you recommend something to someone, and they aren’t interested, but if someone else recommends it, now they’re interested and sometimes become obsessed. It annoys me to no end when sometimes that person recommends it to you like you’ve never heard of it before.

None of this PC bullshit. People could say what's on their minds, and everyone was fine with it whether they agreed or not. Now if you say "Boo" at someone you're looking at trouble for threatening someone. Like WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK???? Are you that much of a pussy that you can't handle someone speaking? And don't get me started on the whole "Speak English" bullshit that keeps going on. I'm in the process of learning a few languages just to piss these people off. Among other reasons.

While everyone else chooses more modern and recent years I'm gonna go with 1972, because it's really is when video games became mainstream enough to get seen as profitable. 1972 was when Pong released which really was the start of the video game market. Sure stuff like Table For Two was around but it didn't get all that popular. Pong is the first big hit in the gaming market, which helped establish a market that lead to all the other classics. Another big arcade cabinet game called Computer Space also released around that time.

Also in 1972 was the Madavox Odduesy which was the first ever console to be released. It paved the way for Atari and Intelvision to enter the console market.
Basically 1972 is when gaming became an actual market. Which is why I'd call it the greatest.

I do remember, and below is the only one that's survived house moves, poor treatment and frequent consultation.
This is my 'Cheats Bible,' a battered, dog-eared tome from Games Master magazine that's been with me for donkey's years. Why I decided to graffiti Sonic, Knuckles & Tails' first initial on their heads like Doctor Neo Cortex, or give the Prince of Persia antennae I don't know. The pages have gone yellow with age and being kept in all manner of environments: plastic boxes, dark shelves, a floor littered with crumbs and goodness knows what else. And of course, who could forget the cheats lady on the blurb, back when publishers didn't rack up the bill for selling solutions to problems they'd created. "Call me 24/7," says the cheats chick, "I've got what you need." Doubtful, as the freephone number is still in use but the ones in enlarged fonts are not.
Now strategy guides on the other hand I used to frequently purchase, most no longer in my possession. I will however never part with my The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition one by Prima, however.

What once were cheat codes are usually microtransactions now, and it sucks. These were fun things to play around with and game developers could really have fun with them as well. I remember in these hospital this was the noise you heard when you put in a cheat code.

Honestly, only games I get stressed out to, are ones with really crap controls and ones where it's overly complicated. Oh and games where there are menus upon menus. Navigation can be a thing that stresses me out in game, because if I can't figure out what menu to go to, then it can be annoying learning that new system. It's why I never got into The Witcher, there was just too much going on.
