  1. What is the single most catastrophic loss of time/effort you have suffered because of a glitch or an update? My brother lost months of work on his No Man’s Sky bases the other day because of a game update. It completely messed up all his structures and landscapes.
  2. Has anyone had major issues with the latest No Man’s Sky update (i.e. messing up your bases and making the game crash)?
  3. I caved and got the Skyrim one, lol. It arrived yesterday.
  4. Well, I have a PS5, so what do you suggest? 🙂
  5. Parallels, leaving out spoilers: 1-The Quarian fleet and the Colonial fleet. The Geth and the Cylons. 2-Tricia Helfer's Six in BSG and EDI in Mass Effect clearly have some parallels. This was not a coincidence, given the casting. 3-Both stories focus on conflict between organics and synthetics (albeit organic synthetics in BSG). 4-Both stories focus on overcoming prejudice. 5-Picking the "green" ending in ME3 has somewhat parallel results to some aspects of BSG's ending. -"All of this has happened before/all of this will happen again." Both BSG and ME focus on cycles of violence between organics and their creations, and putting an end to those cycles. Thank you, @Shagger.
  6. I feel Mass Effect was in some respects a spiritual successor to the 2004 remake of Battlestar Galactica (which seems quite deliberate, what with even casting multiple actors from the show for the games). I feel having watched the show really enhanced my experience of the games and made the ending I chose more satisfying. So, I highly recommend the show to any Mass Effect fans who haven’t seen it.
  7. What could provide a better sense of closure than ending slides? A lot of people complain that after a long RPG, ending slides feel kind of half-ass, and do not really offer much closure. I think a better alternative would just be a series of “X years later …” cut-scenes or even small playable sequences for different characters/factions. What ideas do you have for offering more closure when finishing this type of game?
  8. Whenever I put in an older game, I’m momentarily startled by the lower graphic quality compared to more modern games I am playing. But after a few days, I don’t even notice it a lot of the time. It’s almost like my brain “fills in the details” or something. Do others experience this?
  9. Are there any games you find embarrassing to play? What are they, and why? And is it the full game, or just parts or aspects of the game?
  10. Do you keep the cases your physical games came in?
  11. Are there any video games that prominently feature disabled characters—particularly any where you have to play around their disability?
  12. Having just started playing PS4/PS5 games, I feel a deep loathing for the whole “tap vs. hold” control scheme. It just doubles the executive function challenges I deal with. Do you love or loathe these types of controls?
  13. What are some games you were really stoked to play that never actually completed development?
  14. What are some of your favorite pieces of game-related concept art?
  15. I notice I easily miss on-screen instructions in games, even those that are permanently stamped on menu screens. Do others have this problem?
  16. You might be aware Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are apparently adapting Fallout into a series for Amazon Prime. What do you want to see from the series? I don’t think there is a particular place/time I’d demand, but as long as the tone is right, the weird humour is intact, and the social commentary the games make is also present, I’ll be excited.
  17. Sometimes I meet people I wouldn’t hesitate to call “gamers” who have a hard time calling themselves such for various reasons, i.e. “But I only play one game all the time,” or “I don’t play new games.” I almost feel like this reminds me of “impostor syndrome.” Does anyone here feel like they have a sort of gamer impostor syndrome?
  18. What open world games are recommended for just random silly chaos in the streets and such?
  19. If you have played one MMO for many years, how close is it to the original game you remember playing in the olden days? Is it still similar, or barely recognizable?
  20. Did you ever quit an MMO, come back years later, found everything had changed, and end up really getting into it again anyway?
  21. I think they created the AI to preserve life. The Reapers only kept harvesting and hitting reset because organics kept building AIs, turning against them, and prompting their AIs to wipe them out.
  22. Oh come on, you know you love BlamCo Mac & Cheese, lightly irradiated with a dash of salt.
  23. I would be so excited for you to play TLOU! I've never seen the option to unlock 😕 But then, I wasn't looking for it either.
  24. My memories of Fairfax were largely of affluent suburbans, many of them defense contractors/ex-military. I always thought of it as a fairly sugar-coated place--toxic in its way, but usually by being kind of repressive? It sounds like your workplace was really messed up! I'm autistic too, by the way, and also enjoy metal 🙂
  25. Well over a year now. It struggles with image search sometimes and with specific niche queries (i.e. some video game questions), but for most random searches, it has been just fine. It plants a tree for every 45 searches or so. I am up to several hundred at least now. It keeps a counter as well in case you are curious about your approximate tree contribution.
