StaceyPowers got a reaction from Family sedan in RANT: Do you have friends that get WAY too upset about the difficulty they're having with a game?
    @Steerminator OMG, THIS.
Yes, the person who I watch play most often has this same issue. I think anxiety in general often boils down in part to poor self-esteem, so that is a factor here. And you end up with either 1-the person beating themselves up for being bad (when they are often actually just learning and are doing fine), or 2-the person blames the game, because the only way they have learned to feel OK about themselves is to outsource blame and perceive something else as Not OK.

It seems that the creation engine can only load in one area at a time.  Probably because loading in the entire open world with every interior and exterior location would take up far to much memory or might just a limitation of the engine itself.  So anytime you're indoors or even in a town it's a different data package to the rest of the open world.  So if you for example are playing Skyrim and you go through the doors of Solitude the game wipes the exterior world from memory and loads in Solitude in it's place.  Then if you go into the Winking Skeever it wipes Solitude from the memory and loads the internal of the Winking Skeever in its place.

There are some engine's (like Ubisoft's Anvil; Assassin's Creed) that can load internal and external areas at once hence you can look outside through a window or an open door but Bethesda's dated software just doesn't seem to work that way.  I've said it time and time again that Bethesda need something new.  Since Microsoft bought them they could probably use 343's much newer Slipspace, but they seem to stubbornly sticking with what they've got.

Whilst I think @Crazycrab is at least partially right, the Creation engine can be made programmed to do more than that. In Morrowind, the cities were naturally a part of the open world, so you could go in and out of them without loading screens, but granted that is a much older game. Skyrim can also do the same thing thing with the help of The Open Cities Mod, but could obviously be troublesome if the hardware isn't up to snuff. So I do think that Bethesda do this to help the game run smoother of this aging engine and of the kind of hardware that was around at the time of launch, but it may still be more capable than even Bethesda think.

StaceyPowers got a reaction from Withywarlock in Comparing ethical choices in games
My brother is playing DA Origins for the first time. Like me, he tries to make ethical choices in video games. So, it is hilarious watching him make almost completely opposite choices/assumptions as me.
It seems like watching how two players tackle the same scenarios in a game sheds interesting light on what divides their personal ethical systems.

If they are legit and eternally an enemy, it seems illogical to save them. If they are the kind of person who would switch sides out of gratitude, however, sure, I'll save them.

Vertical. It offers more surface area to dispel heat.

StaceyPowers reacted to The Blackangel in What game do you like watching (not playing) the most?
RDR2. I can watch or play it all day long. Prior to when I started playing, I had been watching my girl play it for several months. Finally the itch got me and I started playing. As I've said before, the controls are a bitch to learn, but once you do they become instinctive.

The Antagonist. I just like the way it sounds, and it suits me well.
But if we're talking a more traditional name, I would go for MaryBeth Gaskill or Rinoa Heartilly.

It's a painful world and the little creatures have taken enough suffering because of humans. But it won't end. It even teaches in the bible that man has dominion over animals. The way I see it, we have a responsibility to treat them fair. We don't have dominion over anything but ourselves, and sometimes not even then. Dominion doesn't equal abuse. Dominion equals responsibility.

I would risk my life to save a pet, but I know if I die then the pet is as good as dead too. And if I had other pets to care for, I wouldn't die for just one. If I was in Africa and saw a poacher, I'd accidentally shoot him and hurry and fly back. Maybe it's legal to kill poachers, I don't know. If I were elected I would make it legal.

StaceyPowers reacted to The Blackangel in What is your most ridiculous, irrational fear?
What is something that scares you that you know is bullshit and impossible? Ever since I was a child, I've had this fear that when we die, we are still fully conscious. 99% of our body doesn't work anymore, but we can still hear, see, and feel. Being lowered into the ground sealed in a box would be enough to drive a person beyond insane. Alone in the dark with nothing but your thoughts. But cremation would be beyond excruciating because they don't stop roasting you until even the smoke is burned down. And an autopsy? Don't get me started.
I know it's a bullshit fear, but it's something that has stuck in the back of my mind my entire life.
    So what's yours?

My dad was a self-absorbed narcissist that only cared about his self image and was always verbally abusive to my mother. I have friends who also had very abusive mothers - sometimes I think parents should undergo some kind of evaluation to see if they're ready for parenting because some people don't deserve kids.

I would love to see a jousting match to the death. If one falls off the horse the other gets to trample them. If they both fall, it’s a fight with bats covered with razor blades.

StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 in How do you choose your romantic interest in a video game (i.e. a game like DA or ME)?
Honestly, it depends on the personality of the particular love interest and how well they compliment the character. Otherwise, I just put their names in a raffle and I pick one lol.

StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 in Is there a spin-off game you want to see for a franchise?
The Ideal Masters one would be a good one as well because there's a bit of info on them throughout the series but they never really went into depth about them either. Come to think of it, we don't know a lot about Hermaeus Mora since he's the oldest Daedra who's older than most of the Aedras and Daedras. His wealth of knowledge absolutely knows no bounds - he has knowledge on how to get around the barrier the keeps Daedras from entering Nirn. I mean his plane of Oblivion is the only one that isn't affected by this barrier.

Yes, this would be a great idea!

Btw, it cracks me up that in the base game, even if you reject Hermaeus Mora, he's all like "I will give you all the knowledge anyway!" The daedra are determined to be helpful =D
I want one with the Ideal Masters because I ended the DLC feeling like I had unfinished business--I want to hunt them down and kill them. But I felt like their existence turned the ES mythology on its head, like there are mysteries beyond the cosmic order. Thus, I feel it'd work better as a spin-off with a different tone/format than the usual ES fare.

I'd like a Miraak backstory as in from the time of his birth to his fight with some dragon priest and how he came to meet hermaeus mora and what exactly transpired in the convo that led to Miraak accepting his offer. Yes, I know the story covers some of this but it's basic info - I want  to see it through Miraak's eyes.
