Nah, I think I have enough survival games for a lifetime. lol I get why the challenge of these games is appealing, but I prefer my games to be more relaxing, not stress me out.

Anything that requires a solution to solve maybe? Can be a literal puzzle you put together, a puzzle that requires you to connect wires, etc. I think for me, it's just anything that requires any bit of thought to solve. Like if there is a needed solution to solve it, it imo is a puzzle. At least to me it is.

I believe it's subjective, but then again, I feel like words are fickle human inventions that could be open to interpretation over time. Many words have different meanings today from what they were originally defined as.
I do see what you're getting at with Stray's scenario, and I guess by its purest definition, it might not be a "puzzle game" in the most obvious sense, but you do still have to figure out the proper mechanism to interact with in the game, and that's what a puzzle is like to me, figuring out things and solving problems. Just because it's an easy puzzle game doesn't make it any less of a puzzle game IMO.

Whilst I don't agree with what Sony has done, this price increase in no way vindicates any theory that the sacristy caused by supply issues through the pandemic was a part of any plan from Sony or anybody else. That microchip shortage reached and affected just about every manufacturing industry from games consoles to waste refuse vehicles.

They'd probably need to come up with a unique service not currently offered in the gaming industry for that to happen. Either that or when they gain a big enough reputation in this industry, they'll be able to hold their own against Sony and the others...somewhat.

The thing is Luna's launch was pretty poor and yes they have their own gaming studio but didn't they have that game that literally bricked Nvidia graphics cards? I think it was New World? Amazon isn't going to go much further than Netflix because they're both up against Xbox Gamepass and Playstation Plus, both of whom belong to companies that have huge reputations in the industry so they'll need to overcome that hurdle.

I think the main reason people don't know, is because they don't really advertise them anywhere. You'd think they would put a small ad on their Netflix app to promote them at least.
And I see someone mentioned ads on Netflix. I'm for it. I don't mind ads before and after programming. Just as long as it's not in the middle of the program.

IGN's editor gave Cuphead an 8.8 out of 10, and I'd say that closely matches the text of the review. They've also rated Xenoblade Chronicles 8 out of 10, and both games were reviewed by different people.
If we're going to bash people or projects let's do so with appropriate examples and not use that to tar others with the same brush. The whole "too much water" meme from IGN to give one such example is funny when taken in good humour... which most do not because they didn't read the article.
This isn't exclusive to you nor is it a telling off, it's just a suggestion for improving the discourse seen here. It does not take long for a circlejerk to happen on this forum, and I'd prefer to prevent that than have to divert it afterwards.
Having said all that, the gameplay in that video of it looks fairly decent. Makes me want to get back into JRPGs, which I know I love but just cannot bring myself to play that often. 😣

You know what, let's just be honest here, even if Konami do announce another Silent Hill game, is it REALLY worth getting excited about?  Konami's track record since Kojima left has been, frankly, fucking appalling!  Every game release following MGS5: The Phantom Pain has been a critical and commercial disaster.  Seriously ask yourselves, Do you even want the publisher behind Metal Gear Survive, Contra Rouge Corps and eFootball anywhere near Silent Hill?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, unless an official announcement comes from Konami there are no Silent Hill projects in development.  Although when it comes to Silent Hill the fanbase seem to continue to be wildly over optimistic and have zero capacity to think things reasonably despite rumours of a new entry in the Silent Hill franchise turning out to be false countless times.  They just jump right on the bandwagon over and over again, I don't know what to do anymore.

Even if it’s early pitch concepts, it doesn’t look too bad.
I hope they don’t use the warm colour palette, as SH2 has a very cold and damp feeling with the blues, greens and greys… almost like a corpse.
Seeing as Bloober is working with Akira Yamaoka, and it seems like Masahiro Ito is working on another SH game, I hope they’re involved with the rumoured games to a great degree.

Agreed. It was impressive for the time and I'm amazed at how memorable and heartwarming the soundtrack is. You just can't beat Aquatic Ambience, especially its chorus at the 1:20 mark.
Space Invaders was developed by Taito and published by Atari, at least it was on consoles. Taito had developed games for Nintendo consoles at times, and some of their games are on a Nintendo Switch collection. While Taito were acquired by publisher Square Enix of Final Fantasy fame, Atari these days exist only in name, their past glories a sad footnote in the pages of gaming history.
So in answer to your question at long last... no. 😅

I'll go through their reasonings and see if we can find some sense out of it. Here's hoping I can save people a click, but if you feel the need check out the video itself, be warned of how utterly hyperbolic it is. It uses evocative imagery and haunting music to disturb the viewer, which is not an argument for anything they're talking about.
So first of all, they don't cite their source which is an immediate red flag. Statements from these questionnaires include 'I can see myself getting into a relationship with my character' and 'I consider my character a friend of mine'... but we're not told how that relates to the questions. They're flimsy quotes that may not even be real.
Players of higher character attachment apparently had lower self-esteem. So are these characters causing them to have lower self-esteem, or is it that they can't get attached to people in real life because of low self-esteem (perhaps brought on by bullying, abuse, trauma, etc.?)
It's true video games have been blamed for mass shootings... but blame mercifully does not automatically mean proof. This person does not provide any proof.
The National Science Foundation has often praised video games and has been in favour of them, discussing accessability options for blind gamers who wish to play racing games, and discussing creativity. I've seen no such article for this person's claim though.
Not much to say on this one. It's one thing to ask someone to pour hot sauce into a bowl for someone who doesn't like it; it's another to, y'know, murder someone.
Epileptic Seizures: "The link between video games and epileptic seizures began to cause concerns from the early 1980s. The first documented case of a video game triggering epileptic seizures came in 1981. Shortly afterwards, console manufacturers required game publishers to include epilepsy warnings in the manuals, for games released on their devices. Seizures occur when a lack of neuronal regulation causes nerve activity to sync up."
I think this video has lost all credibility with me when they quote the British hate-rag, The S*n. Yes, video games have been known to cause photosensitive seizures. This has been a disclosure in most games for at least a decade.
...and watching television, and using computers and laptops, and using virtual reality (VR) headsets, and reading print for too long.
Problems with Bones and Muscles: "Medical journal The Lancet published a case report in 2004 which mentioned the PlayStation thumb in a 9-year-old boy. Rapid game play had caused friction between the thumb and the controller which had led to numbness and a blister. Frequent tendon injuries to the hands and wrists of Nintendo players have been dubbed ‘Nintendonitis’."
Link to the letter to the Lancet here. I looked for examples of the blisters and swelling they listed, and could find only one, which err, doesn't look all that severe. At best it shows how crap the Dual Shock 2 was.
Video games don't make people fat: eating too much cake and not moving enough make people fat. It's often said "abs are made in the kitchen" because of diet's influence on your health moreso than exercise (which is still vitally important; 20 minutes of pleasant breathlessness each day, folks!)
Tragic but video games are not entirely to blame. People need to be responsible with their physical activity and leisure time. There are addictive things in video games and people are trying to clamp down on it, but this only gets in the way of those efforts.
...and that's where the video ends. No flipside, no attempts to balance the conversation, no real conclusion. Jesus wept in an RGB gaming chair.

The only thing saving them is that they have the odd banger like RDR2 and they've hardly supported the game since release. Ubisoft and EA (I'm just temporarily leaving out Activision because they've been bought out by Microsoft so we need to see what they doing going forward) are the only companies I think are possibly worse than Take Two.
You're right - sorry about that.
We've seen plenty of consoles fail since the 90's - in no way shape or form is the PS5 a failure. It's more overpriced and I totally agree but a failure doesn't sell that many consoles so much so that nearly 3 years later, some of us still can't get our hands on one.

There's so many good cross-gen games out there though.
Also, I forgot to mention this, but I think these days it kinda feels like a requirement to have crossplay for most, if not, all online games to come out in the future. I think they would be dumb not to do this, because I would like to game with my PlayStation friend in some more games.

I don't mind quicktime events that aren't frustratingly long and annoying. I can handle them sometimes, but it's when they go on too long or don't stop and have annoying checkpoints. Or are the simon says style quicktime events where they have different levels of difficulty. That's not fun for me.

Not a 100% deal breaker, but a major negative for me is when a game practically requires looking at external sources of information because the in-game guidance is so poor. People moan about hand-holding, but there's a line between that and having you wander around for hours, re-exploring old areas accomplishing nothing in a vague hope to decipher what the developer was thinking, if they'd actually put much thought into that bit.

There was another topic that mentioned QTEs, so for me, it's any game that heavily feautures QTEs, either in terms of fighting, gameplay etc, I will hate it. I only mind it in story driven games when it's not this simon sez annoyance where you have to pick the right combinations in order to advance. I hate that the most.
Just don't make the fighting QTEs. I want to have fun with my games.

When it comes to something like gamepass for example. It's cheap and gets you a ton of games at a single price. Not only that it gets you Xbox live as well, at least with ultimate it does.
I don't buy games that often these days. That's one other reason I like gamepass, because it allows me to play all of these games I never would have otherwise. And with me, I tend to play a game once. And then never go back to it. That's another reason I like gamepass, because I can pull from a bunch of games, play them, finish them, and then grab the next one.
I don't think I would purchase most of the games on game pass either. It saves me a lot in the long run.

In some cases they offer WAY better value than paying for games outright.  For example, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is £54.99 on Origin, but you can play it via EA Play which grants access to it and a ton of other games on Console and PC for £3.99 a month or £19.99 for a year...  It's a no brainer!

    Source - https://mp1st.com/news/sony-interactive-entertainment-acquires-14-of-elden-ring-developer-fromsoftware
Well that's not that big of an amount. Sony has acquired 14% of FromSoftware. Not sure what that means. I don't think it would result in exclusivity or anything. To me, it looks more like an investment into them. Supposedly they also had a stake in their company before this, which was originally just 1.9% or so. I wonder if this will result in them outright buying them. 14% may not seem like a lot, but it could turn to 20%, then %50 and so on.
I think it makes sense for Sony to buy them up though. I can see them trying to buy up more stake like this though.
