Password manager Change your passwords often Two factor Authentification on all online accounts don't just click on URLs, use Virustotal to scan them to ensure their legitimacy

I have already played for 1 hour in the early morning. I have a business run that might take me out all day but hopefully I can add another hour when I get back.

The trailer looks dope though. I think everyone of us remembers playing the earlier versions which were quite shitty in graphics but still were love ❣️
    Looking forward to play it.

It depends on my mood honestly - sometimes I'll play some GTA online with my friends as well as some Elden Ring and at other times, I just like the single-player experience of Skyrim and Fallout 4.

I like to be able to see what I'm doing while I'm playing so I'd rather play by myself and not deal with split screens.

Depending how liberal we're being with the term open world, the one that immediately springs to mind is Blighttown in Dark Souls Remastered. Painfully dimly lit, there's ogre-like creatures with heavy clubs that swing hard and chase fast. Some throw boulders as you're trying to navigate the poison swamp. There's poison dart-blowers, mosquitoes as tall as a Hollowed, natives humanoids that I can't begin to describe, and fire hounds. At least there's maggots that can easily be dealt with for easy Souls. The original version of the game was particularly hard to deal with because the frame-rate died a death in Blighttown, making it one of the worst locations in games for quite a while.
For a more conventional open world title I would say Alcaz Island in World of Warcraft, at least during the Legion expansion where Hunters could tame the mechanical inhabitants... if they could surpass the turrets that would shoot down both grounded and aerial targets.

If I had to choose I would still go with The devil's roar region in Sea of thieves. Not only do you have to deal with the near constant threat of krakens, ghost pirates, and other players but now you're in an area where every island has an active volcano on it. All too often the fiery chunks of molten rock spewed by these volcanos find their way to your ship.

So true! Heihachi killing his son and throwing him off a cliff into lava is pretty darn evil in my books. I also think that Molag Bal from Elder Scrolls is one of the wickedest bastards I can remember in a video game.

Im tired of dealing with ads in facebook and youtube and now we are going to have to deal with this on games as well ?? next thing you know we are going to have to start paying for yet another service to get rid of the ads, how clever of sony....

As long as it's only in "free to play" I'm not to fussy, but we all know that's just their way of testing the water.  All the the up front purchases, DLC's, season passes, service charges for online, micro-transactions, special editions, product placements and tax dodging just isn't enough apparently.  They have to include adds in the game's to!  Fuck gaming.

A quick note @Ryan Blake, it good practice to include links in gaming news topics. Since you mentioned "Verge" in the the title, I'll assume it's this this article from The Verge that you are referring too.

This has no place in a game that is pay to play or that you need PS+ to play online, simple as that. Same story on Xbox with Xbox live. Paying to watch ads is where I draw the line.

The in-game ads are expected to launch by the end of the year and would appear in inconspicuous places within the game, like billboards. Players could also get rewards for watching advertisements, and the ads would be sold through a private marketplace, Insider reports. Sources told Insider that Sony hasn’t yet decided if it would take a portion of ad revenue but is considering having developers and publishers pay for consumer data.
According to reports, both Sony and Microsoft plan to introduce ads in games this year
    Thoughts?

Ryan Blake reacted to Shagger in Do we need somewhere for people to "chat" instead of the amount of PM style posts going on in the forum?
I know that many of you have been expressing frustration over how "spammy" (for lack of a better word) some sections of the forum are becoming by a handful of people using the threads more like a chat. The forum gets flooded with off-topic posts on threads that really should have long since died but keep getting bummed because some people feel compiled to reply to them with anything.

This thread is not about pointing fingers or blame, it is just about how to better organise the forum so that the threads can be more welcoming for the whole community. So people can post, for example, without worrying about there posts getting bummed down by people posting barley relevant, low value replies just to up posts counts. Four possible idea come to me.

A "shitposting" sub forum for people to, well, "shitpost". A thread for memes, jokes and other irrelevant dribble to have fun with without impacting other areas of the forum. A re-focus on forum games. Upping post counts is essentially what these types of threads are for, but almost nobody on VGR tends to use them. For this to work, it would necessitate a change of habit that, to be honest, I don't really see happening, so I'm less sure about this one. A chat box added to the forum itself. This works well in theory, but could be difficult and time consuming to implement, not to mention hard to monitor and moderate, which is why I'd personally prefer... Opening a VGR Discord server. As well as a place for live chat, it would also open up the community to the opportunity to group up and actually play games together. Now, @DC, I remember we have had this discussion before and you didn't want to do this because you feared it would move traffic off the website, and I truly understand that, but this CAN be run and moderated in such a way that it would work, and may even attract new people to VGR.
Still, that is just one man's thoughts. If you have anything to add or if you want to push one of these ideas, reply below.

Racing games... in general. More specially using an open world hub to select games modes instead of menus.

I don't know what racing game did this first, but it was Burnout Paradise that made it popular and there is a place reserved in hell for whoever it was at EA and Criterion Games that though that was a good idea. All it does is make selecting the game modes, tracks and cars you want slower and more awkward and you end up racing around the same areas over and over with limited variety.
