  1. This is a tough one to answer considering a lot of my favourite studios have been closed down like taito, hudson soft and data east just to name a few. But one studio that is alive and kicking hands down my favourite would be Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Yakuza is one of my favourite series of all time and it's amazing how they keep it fresh after all these years, with amazing stories that put many a movie to shame and let's be honest some of the most funny, ridiculous side content you will not find in any videogame, i know kamarocho has been re-used over and over but it's never boring roaming the same streets beating up dudes, playing some sega arcade classics in between, etc. On top of that you probably have the most likeable bad ass character named Kazuma Kiryu as protagonist. With the judgment and lost judgment spin off they started including more mature themes like bullying and dementia to name a few subjects. How can i forget about the yakuza like a dragon where they overhauled the complete formula and turned it into a full blown turn based rpg and you know they managed to get away with it. Did you know they also made the best Fist of the north star game called lost paradise?
  2. I think it's time for ubisoft to rethink the whole ac formula again because let's face it origins, oddysey and valhalla while all great games they have nothing in common with the original ac games they are just action rpg's with the ac name slabbed on it. In valhalla stealth is pretty damn near impossible where in origins and oddysey it was still possible to clear out an enemy camp. I personally find valhalla a downgrade from odyssey i don't know why like going on your first raid is pretty epic and all but it get's old pretty fast, as are the side missions which can be completed in a matter of minutes. The story and side characters are also not the most interesting where in odyssey you got a whole host of memorable side characters like barnabas for example. Anyways about present day Assasins creed i don't really mind it but other then for story purposes there isen't really much to do in the present day ac segments kind of wished ubisoft added a little something more. Maya is a much better character then desmond , maybe even one you give two fucks about sadly i doubt she will be returning in the next game and we wil probably play as basim in both present and past which in all honesty is not the most interesting character to begin with, my best bet would be that the next game will take place in india. Overall the modern segments have become more interesting over the years. I diden't really liked the whole first person view we had in black flag and rogue but atleast you could walk around and hack some computers, the modern story in rogue ended in a major cliffhanger that has not been adressed to this day and probably never will, i think unity also ended up being the same way but i can't remember too much about it to go into detail. Just to go back to the topic title now with Basim back from the dead (kinda hard to explain without spoilers) but if you played trough valhalla you'll know what i mean, it could be the perfect way to implant both past and present and make some sense for once. Also that assasins from watch dogs legion what was she called Darcy, bring her in as a present ac protagonist.
  3. Several series i'd like to see making a comeback : Driver -> Obvious choice i think, using the map of the crew 2 for a driver game would be an awesome idea with the shift mechanic where you can shift from the west coast to the east coast in a matter of seconds. Include several playable characters and you have a winner on your hands. Project Gotham series -> Doubt we will see a sequel since it's all about forza these days but i always thought the first two games were one of the best racing games on the og xbox. Micro Machines -> Because why not, make it open world and have some fun around the kitchen, in the garden, etc. Shutokou Battle series/tokyo xtreme racing series -> Probably the main racing series i'd like to see making a comeback. Tuning and racing Jdm legends over tokyo highways it never get's old. F-zero series -> come one nintendo why are you torturing us all this time, just make a damn new F-zero or remake the gamecube one i'd be happy with that too, it's like asking too much now has it. Motorstorm -> Sony should just bring the series back, the second game is one of the best ps3 exclusives out there Some others i'd like to see make a comeback one way or the other are Ridge racer, Midnight club ,Sega rally and Sega Gt. I'd be super stoked if atleast one of the above mentioned series would be blown new life into.
  4. Pretty much the usual suspects, i probably woulden't have put ubisoft so high on the list and maybe leave out cd project red and replace them with rockstar but that is just me. Maybe 2k games should have been included aswell. You know let's play the advocate of the devil and say i loved Ea when i was a kid up until maybe the launch of ps4/xbox one that is were they lost it completly imo. A lot of their early games on the sega megadrive/genesis made me the gamer i am today, when you saw that electronic arts logo on a box you knew you were getting quality their box art and cartidges were also different then regulair mega drive carts so that may have been a reason too. Many of their early sega games i still have found memories of, the road rash series, the strike series, james pond trilogy, populous, lotus games and theme park just to name a few. They were also one of the first big publishers to start releasing console games aimed towards a more older audience, maybe this is a bold statement but if it wasen't for ea the sega genesis/megadrive would have never been close saleswise to the super nintendo. If we speak from a business standpoint, you gotta give it to Ea that they pretty much have a monopoly on sports games these days. While that isen't a good thing by any means it's a bloody brilliant move business wise. Take their recent example of taking over Codemasters, with aquiring them they pretty much have a monopoly on third party racing games, i've read somewhere they also aquired the Wrc license along the way so they are going to be pretty the only company putting out rally games over the next few years. Sucks but what are you going to do about it. Is Ea to blame for this yes and no, i think we should also point a finger towards greedy ass organisations like fifa, nfl, fia and nhl who want more and more money, where it is to the point it's impossible for smaller publishers to aquire the license. I think as fans of a certain sport it sucks that their are no other options avaible anymore and when you pretty much have a monopoly on a sport or genre, a company tends to get lazy because again what alternative do you have none, and those suckers are going to buy it anyway. I think an even better example that is not from ea are the wwe games by 2k, in the past you knew they were good wrestling titles but now i see them getting worse and worse each year. You do have a great alternative by getting Fire pro wrestling imo the best wrestling game ever made but sadly that game is too niche to even make a stand against a wwe game. Don't get me wrong i don't hate or like Ea, i rather see them as the company that gave me great gaming experiences when growing up rather then the company they have turned into these days. Aslong as people keep buying their yearly shit i'm afraid not much is going to change, sure they get a lot of shit for their practices but in the end all they care about how much profit have we made and you know can't blame them for it because that is the main objective of any company -> making a profit. Yeah sorry kind off went overboard a bit, there is more i want or should add but i don't want to waste anybody their time even more.
  5. It's a great game that will make you think wtf a couple of times. Just mindless dumb fun with some really dark sense of humour and imo one of the better games from suda51, eventough it gets a little repetitive after a while but the wacky characters make you want to continue playing the game and if you like hack and slash games this is a no brainer. Do play the game on a higher difficulty because on the lowest diffculty somebody with zero gaming experience would be able to beat the game fairly easy. I'll probably end up getting the remaster if it's priced accordingly or when it goes on a sale because let's face it, you can't charge full price for this.
  6. While i won't deny the quality of my time at portia it's a exellent game that i enjoyed my time with troughly i'd say my time at portia is more closer to harvest moon/story of seasons and stardew valley then the sims. Still you could do a lot worse because it's one of the best life simulation games out there with a fairly big world and interesting story, the only damn thing is that i ended up marrying that reporter instead of the nurse. There is a sequel in the makes called my time at sandrock. The only game i can think off that is a blatant Sims rip off is Playboy the mansion released in 2005, it's by no means as good as the sims but i guess for the time it was an okay game fromthe little of what i played and what i can remember. These days it's probably good for a few laughs as to how cringy it all is. I'm sure there are a few sims clones out there on pc from the early 2000's but i haven't played them to give any decent info. There is also this game called Alterlife which i read an article on last year, supposed to be a more realistic version of the sims but other then a trailer there is not much info out there about the game..
  7. It's probably none of my business but I just gotta quote this so you have been here for like roughly 10 months and made over 10 000 posts in that period. That's over 1000 posts a month!!! That is like what over 30 posts a day. Come one man isen't it time to start giving it some tought you may be over doing it a bit? But anyways glad to know i contributed roughly 500 posts to the 150 000 milestone.
  8. Think i'm near the end of current gen GTA 5 Story mode, it's pretty damn impressive that after all these years los santos is still one of the best open worlds in any video game to date. Sure i know you probably can't compare the ps5/series x version to the original base game on ps3/360 but still rockstar did a good job with this rerelease the world is bursting with life and more detailed then ever you can't possible discover it all in one playtrough and offcourse the missions are still fun as hell.
  9. Don't know if i'm going to get it on launch or wait for a sale but at the end of the month after several delays a new digimon game comes out, i'm kinda looking forward to it as the digimon games i played in the past were always top notch games:
  10. The last of us -> I tried multiple times to get into the game and i know it's blasphemy to say this but i just can't get into the characters and the world itself. It's probably just me as i've never been huge on naughty dog their recent games.
  11. You know another thing i changed my mind on recently is something gaming related as i never overly cared too much for the free to play model because it diden't concern me in the slightest and why should i be bothered about something i could care less about but that was before i have to sort off be a "father" figure for a 10 year old boy who is addicted to fortnite. It's due to @Shagger, @Crazycrab and @kingpotato exellent arguments i started caring and looking more and more into the whole free to play model and must say it's worse then the devil, especially for children who are vunerable for these type of practices, anyway everithing is already explained in detail and all there is to say has been said in this thread so no need to bring it up here.
  12. Rats, ever since i read @The Blackangel story as why she liked rats so much it moved me, that I started seeing rats completly different instead of vermin/pests what they are usually called. thanks to or blame it on her whatever you want, i now look at what Rats can be good for and there is quite a few positive things, i started by removing all the traps in my garden a few weeks ago and leave them be.
  13. Even tough a gimmick It was interesting at the time and from what i remember the best game that utilized the 3d tv effect was gran turismo 5 but you know after 2 hours people including myself would get a bit dizzy and most likely never used the 3d effect on their tv's again. Same with the 3ds i tought it was exellent at the time but after a couple of hours, you would just turn the 3d off. Scott The Woz did an exellent video on 3D gaming :
  14. Not that much of a brand guy to be honest never really cared about clothing brands and what have you and I usually buy food and clothes when they have a good sale or promotion but here are some of my favorites that (i think) are known worldwide : Beer : Duvel, tripel Karmeliet, stella artois Instant noodles : Nissin ( cup noodles ) Coke : Pepsi max or diet pepsi whatever you want to call it Energy drink : Monster energy ( pref Ultra white ) Chocolate : Callebaut Ketchup : Zeisner Mayo : Vandemoortele Most of the other food brands are mostly local brands and i doubt they would be known much outside europe. Let's just wrap things up with some others : Technology and gaming : Microsoft Computer brand : Asus Hiking boots : Meindl Regulair shoes : Lakai Shampoo : Head & Shoulders Toothpaste : Elmex Don't know if this is the answer you are looking for as you diden't specified anything in particulair.
  15. Smoking wasn't an issue 20 years ago, nobody gave a fuck if you smoked where and when it diden't matter, nowadays you're almost a criminal if you do. For the record i don't smoke but have friends who do and i could care less about it if they smoked in a bar, which they banned a few years ago, instead of smoke now my clothes stink of beer and piss after a night of drinking.
  16. Happy bday my man, hope you have an awesome day.
  17. Nah i don't, why should i watch gameplay, when i can play the game myself, never really got the point of it and probably never will, maybe if i'm stuck on something but that is really a last resort as i'm a stubborn fool and want to solve it myself. Maybe i'll watch a review or trailer every once in a while but even that has declined a lot recently. The gaming stuff i watch are mostly about older games and are usually more collector based channels that tend to be on the smaller side for the most part. These days i find myself watching more and more non gaming related content about my favourite sports like football and formula one : Hitc sevens is a gem of a channel for more obscure things in football, i also love the irish guy his rants.
  18. I don't know about you guys but the exellent Sonic mania plus released in 2018 is probably the closest 10/10 sonic game you're going to get i don't know why it's never being brought up in a sonic thread maybe people forgot about it or just diden't care at the time. Go play it, it's the best sonic game since the megadrive/genesis days. Personally i find a lot of sonic games better then most people make them out to be, sonic generations is an exellent entry in the series and i've enjoyed my time with it. Sonic lost worlds on the wii u is also a decent entry in the series but sadly it's stuck on a console nobody owned or played, sonic boom i don't know what to think it's mediocre at best. Sonic colours on the wii was also exellent imo, the ds version is even better so that is the one to get. I know sonic 06 and unleashed are terrible games and righly deserve to be slammed on. For every good sonic game you get 3 mediocre to bad games, people including myself just have lost faith in the sonic franchise over the years. As mentioned in this thread before me, who in the year 2022 is waiting on a new sonic game? From the comments i've seen so far at various gaming news site surely not a whole lot of people. To me sonic was always about running as fast as possible from point a to point b, i don't know man the platform ( that isen't from nintendo )genre may sort of making a comeback these days but i doubt sonic frontiers is probably going to be remembered as a game that helped reviving it. It's like nobody at sega has a clue what to do with the sonic franchise, my advice go back to the drawing board with sonic frontiers and turn it into a full open world rpg instead of a platformer or whatever it is now, mario can get away with several rpg's, why not sonic.
  19. That would be a no brainer for me and it's hiking and preferable in the middle of nowhere because it's the most relaxing experience you can have after a stressfull day or week at work all the negative thoughts and stress are gone by the time you're done hiking, wheter going alone or with friends it doesen't really matter it's the next best hobby to have besides gaming well in my oppinion that is.
  20. Probably in the arcade when playing super street fighter 2 beating M.Bison with just a fraction of health left like one kick or puch would have defeated me but it diden't happen it was also the first and only time i managed to beat street fighter in the arcade. 10 year old me felt like a boss for weeks.
  21. Looks like i won't be getting any more mail this month, think i've done an okay job in june not a ton of stuff for my doing but you know beggars can't be choosers. Got 2 of the rarest japanese 360 games knocked of the list and added a console i've been after for a while. I'll admit i kinda went overboard with bargain hunting for current gen stuff, what can i say i'm a sucker for a good deal and if stores slash their prices on a ton of games, this sucker will scoop up the things he has been holding off until they went on sale. Some games keep being brought up here like hades and ghostrunner so i'm kinda curious if they are as good as some of you claim. If you ask me what the rarest japanese xbox 360 game is,hands down it's going to be Bandfuse rock legends, i've been collecting japanese 360 stuff for a couple of years now and never seen it for sale once, i was starting to doubt that it even existed, low and behold a store on Yahoo japan shopping had a brand new one for sale with just a stock photo as picture for a decent price, i decided to take my changes and bought it and i'm glad i did turned out it exists. Disney fantasia is also one of the rarest 360 releases as it was the last kinect game released in japan, also came from that same seller. Also yeah another console lol, Fist of the north star is my favourite anime of all time, so i had to get this special edition ps3 one way or the other. A seller on yahoo auctions japan was offering a brand new one for what i found a decent price, the guy was also nice enough to include a guidebook for the game. It's never been out of the box, like i'm i ever going to use it or take it out of the box probably not. Is it a waste of money absolutly but what isen't a waste of money these days. That's it for this month.
  22. Hell yeah cheats were a big deal back in the day, especially during the ps1/saturn/n64 area cheats toke up atleast 15 pages in the back of gaming magazines. I did buy quite a few of those cheat books (well my parents did ) usually they were the size of a bible and had pretty much any game covered you could imagine, pretty sure if i look into my parents attic i'll be able to find them again as i kept all my magazines from over the years, what can i say i can't get rid of shit to the point it may become a problem lol. These days i meanly would use cheats on older games i get, just to see what it has to offer or just to fuck around with the game a bit.
  23. Most of the games with gold that are digital only, i tend to keep on my harddrive aslong as possible since most likely a few them have been delisted already, well that is modern gaming for you. Same with the xbox 360 stuff i got for free over the years i keep on my harddrive even if i have no intention of playing the games. The problem with current gen consoles is that harddrives are so small like 1 Tb is just not enough, you are forced to start deleting stuff to make room for something else or move it to an external Hdd. Wherest with a 250gb 360 slim model you can install pretty much anything you want and keep it on there for future preservation.
  24. Oh man where do i even start i've played some really strange and fucked up (japanese) shit in my life. LSD dream emulator -> Released on the ps1 in japan only, this is kind of a pre historic walking simulator where your environment chages all the time, it's probably the weirdest games i've ever played. Sadly it has become quite sought after the years making it very expensive, needless to say since the ps1 is region locked you're going to have the right system to play it on. I believe you can get it for cheap on the japanese ps store but no idea how that even works. Mister Mosquito -> Released on the ps2 Yep you've guessed it you play as mosquito, the game is made out of several stages where your goal is to terrorize a family and suck blood from them. It was quite a unique game for the time since you had some open inviroments where you could reach the goals in any order you wanted. Bee simulator -> A more recent game from a couple of years ago, i really enjoyed it, it's obviously more aimed at children but you know flying around as a bee in an open world it never gets old, sadly it only takes a couple of hours to beat but if you want a relaxing experience this is one you should check out. PuLiRuLa -> Another japanese exclusive, a beat em up this time, i'm not going to go into detail too much as hg101 has an exellent review of it alongside some quality pictures. The Good Life -> Released last year, it's a game by swery65 (of deadly premonition fame) i've only played a little bit of it but can be classified as weird and it's easily avaible on current gen consoles. You play the role as a reporter who has to investigate an english country side village, where the villagers can transform into a cat or dog, not long after you can also transform into a pet, alongside the wacky cast it's probably one of the weirdest games to come out in 2021. Like i said i need to play more of the game to give so i can give a more decent impression. There are several others that could be mentioned like seaman, cho aniki series, katamari damacy, octodad, catherine and untitled goose game as I've already raved enough about deadly premonition in the past i've decided not to included it here. Otherwise that one would take my top spot of weird fucked up japanese games and it's also the best horror games ever made.
  25. couple of things that bother me more then it should : -> People calling you out that you are addicted to videogames where in turn they watch the most stupid shit imaginable on tv. -> People calling fries -> french fries, my god as a proud belgian where fries are cultural heritage almost like a second religion please stop doing that for that i thank you in advance. -> Getting outbid/sniped on ebay or yahoo japan, i've learned to get over it as i grew older and i've became more relaxed about it but it still pisses me off to lose out in the final seconds. -> Jehovah's Witnesses coming preaching at my door, like i give a damn. they came knockingt wice this week, how many times do i have to say i don't give a fuck about religion. -> impatient people who are cutting in line because lets face it it's just annoying and rude to do. -> Spam posting on vgr.com -> Fucking Fortnite that is everywhere these days
