  1. I feel like jrpg's could use more Life simulation elements like i don't know something ala Fable where you can befriend and marry npc's. In most rpg's and adventure games you get a house at some point but other then decorating or sleeping there is not a whole lot to it, why not give us the option to have a garden to grow some vegetables or raise some animals and you know have a wife/husband waiting for you when you get home and so on, being able to have kids who actually grow up and when they are big enough take them on adventures with you. It probably be another thing where character start aging at a certain point and could possibly die of old age. Why not have a complete village that you can renovate over time and use as hideout for you and your companions you know something to call home, with said village growing over time, i always tought this was one of the best aspect of Ni no kuni 2 was requiting the people for your kingdom and expanding said kingdom over time. More freedom as in throw the player into a world and let them figure and discover stuff out in the order the player wants to discover them. This was the strength of breath of the wild after a tutorial of a couple of hours, you get thrown into a world and you know go do your thing and figure out stuff on your own in any order you want. Make enemies levels and areas adapt according to what level the player is instead this area is recommend for level 25 and you're only level 10 orso so turn around and go do that area first. Later Ac games use this method while it has a huge open world game to explore, the game pretty much decides for you where you have to go first. I kind of wish they would ditch this system all together and give more freedom to the player, like in ac oddysey want to go to athens or sparta first you should be able to do that. Technically you can but you are so underpowered enemies kill you in one hit and you pretty much can't do any damage to them. Companions that actually have their own thoughts and morals, like how cool would it be that companions would actually turn on you on any given moment because they feel like you are doing the wrong thing and criticize you for it or companions that would actually go the extra mile for you because you helped them out or they believe that you are doing the right thing. I feel like companions quests are usually the best in a game because you know you are doing a favour for somebody you care for that said i feel like using a good moral system, not only would it possible to add an entire quest line tied to a companion but also give them much more of a character on their own, pretty much anybody follows your command from the day you meet them in a jrpg, i feel like this could use a change up. Like if your behaving like an asshole any companion should be able to leave at any given time and leaving you on your own for the remainder of the game. Why not have companions that have a grudge against eachother and it's your job to keep them at bay or solve the problem alltogether.
  2. Good choice i can relate to animal crossing working miracles for somebody their mental health. I haven't played new horizons yet because i just don't have the time to play it properly but whenever i'm at my parents place, i always have the itch to boot up my gamecube that is still in my room and see how my characters in animal crossing are doing after all these years and you know it works miracles. That and the fact my room at my parents place hasn't changed in over what 15 years now has a therapeutic effect on me, not only does it take me back in time but also to a time where quite frankly things were much simpler then they are now even if it is just for a couple of hours. Probably should make work and start new horizons anytime soon, i mean i bought it when it came out but like so many games it got buried in my never ending backlog.
  3. Personal two highlights for me so far : Announcement of two new yakuza games and a release in the west of Like a Dragon: Ishin! or Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! as it was previously called. Microsoft who finally gets it and is starting getting more and more jrpg's and other more japanese titles on their platform, why are you only realising now that western players like their jrpg's, you should have realised that 10 years ago. Here is hoping a lot of these games get physical releases because yeah microsoft, people still buy their games on a disc in 2022. Overall if anything is to be believed 2023 is shaping up the be one of the best years in gaming, well i'm sure a couple of games are going to be delayed but damn 2023 is going to be so much better then this year.
  4. Man i don't know what to say but this gives me the goosebumps and a warm fuzzy feeling inside and it's totally well deserving, club brugge battering porto at their home ground 0-4 and you know it was well earned too by playing good football they probably should have gotten atleast one more goal. Club brugge has to be the surpise team of the first 2 matches so far. What about you @Justin11 care to leave your thoughts? Think i'm going to save this picture for well maybe forever 😅
  5. Nah, i stay away from that shit at all times. As @Empire mentioned above it's pretty tempting to just buy a bunch of really rare cars in games like forza or gran turismo with real money especially since some cars in forza horizon 5 for example you won't even have enough money by completing every fucking race in the game making them damn near impossible to obtain unless you buy them with real money or are lucky enough to get them trough a wheelspin which in turn is no guarentee whatsoever. I tought about getting the vip pass for forza horizon 5 but again the only thing worth it would be the extra house that gives you a super wheelspin every week and the double credits you are getting and some extra cosmetic items for your avatar nobody cares about, talk about a fucking deal for 19.99. I always loved the forza series but i'll be damned with all this hidden microtransaction crap in there recent entries i'm not having any of it, like the autopass for an additional 34.99 you get an additional 42 cars man what fucking deal but no thanks i'm good. I know that is dlc but you are essentialy paying for these cars to get them in the game, so i'd say this is about the same as paying to unlock a rare car. I get it with a free to play game ala fortnite, you throw a couple of bucks at it and are good to go but with a full price release that sort off practices don't belong there as it's just smells of greed and you know if everybody would stop buying these things, devs may actually think twice about including them. Which makes me glad that loot boxes are being labeled as gambling the next step should be that parents should be made more aware of this pratice that it can cause a gambling problem with their children later on in life.
  6. In case you missed it but man talk about a suprise Nintendo finally announced a release date alongside a new trailer. Apparently the sequel to Breath of the wild is going to be called Tears of the kingdom. Man this got me exited, anybody else hyped?
  7. Yeah i've noticed amazon does not like linking to their site, oh well just google Hardcore Gaming 101 Presents: The Unofficial Guide to Shin Megami Tensei and Persona instead and you'll come across it i'm sure.
  8. I feel like the problem persona 4 had, well apart from steam is that it was always released on platforms that were pretty much dead in the water. It came out on the ps2 in late 2008 in america, even spring 2009 in europe, at a time when pretty much everyone moved on to newer consoles. Same deal with the ps vita, while i won't deny the vita was probably the best platform persona 4 golden could get a release the harsh truth was who the fuck owned a ps vita, the best thing about the psvita was imo the people who had one loved the machine to death and pretty bought anything they could get their hands on, while it does not say much persona 4 golden is one of the best selling titles on the platform considering it sold 2.5 million units on a the vita alone and If vita hardware sales are to be believed around 10 million that is quite impressive for a series to is supposed to be niche. For the general public it's good to see persona 3 and 4 being re-released because these games have become quite collectible over the years. You know this makes me wonder is Persona the more populair series now as it would be interesting to compare in a few years how many units Shin Megami Tensei V or the recent released soul hackers 2 sold. But man i would not call any Atlus or Persona game released overhyped, Atlus has been bringing out exellent games for as far as i can remember, imo their games deserve all the attention because nearly all are their games are worthy of your hard earned cash, the only problem is having the spare time to play them all. Anyways maybe i'm not adding anything new to the table but lot's of shin megami tensei and persona talk lately and you know i can dig that. Btw if you want to have a good read that covers the entire SMT series and all it's spin offs, i suggest you should check out Hardcore Gaming 101 Presents: The Unofficial Guide to Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, it's avaible on amazon if you are interested.
  9. As stated in topic title do you listen to specific video game music when you are not playing videogames? Let's try avoid licensed songs and soundtracks as that would be the easy way out. If you don't mind list a couple of examples aswell. As for me the only soundtrack i'd listen when i'm not gaming would be to the first Shenmue sountrack but even that has been years as exept for the radio at work i don't listen to music all that much anymore.
  10. I disagree with that statement Kane, you should give people as much options as possible and not force gamepass on everyone. There are people who only buy one or two games a year mostly insert your favourite sportfranchise here and maybe a cod or whatever big game comes out that year. I don't think those people want gamepass and it would just be an extra cost for them for a service they don't need or want at all. What about the people who only game a few hours a week, i doubt they would get any value out of subscribing to gamepass. Then there are people like me who just prefer their games in physical format, why would you force gamepass on a person like me, it's only going to annoy me that i'm forced to pay for what is nothing more then a glorified rental service as a videogame collector it's against everithing i stand for. Yeah i know gamepass is a good deal and all but it's nothing i'm interested in at the moment. I've always been loyal to the xbox brand even since day one and it has always been my platform of choice ever since but if they would start forcing this all digital shit on me. I'm afraid i'm going to be forced jump ship to nintendo or a while a last resort sony as platforms of choice. People should have options and be able to choose as that what suits them best as it's the best possible way to keep everyone happy.
  11. Anybody remember this forgotten early xbox one/pc exclusive called Screamride? imo one of the most fun rollercoaster riding/building (and destruction) games out there had a great time with this game a few years ago as it's easy to pick up and play and above all fun, if you have gamepass you could do a lot more worse then giving this game a try, i feel like you owe it to yourself to give it a shot, you'll thank me later (i hope).
  12. There are a couple of others i feel like whenever you are down they always bring a smile on your face and that is for me animal crossing, i was introduced to the gamecube game by one of my friends at the time who lived around the corner probably late 2004, i knew he got bullied at school a lot and that game helped him dealing with it all, offcourse i did not think of it as much as it looked kiddy and at first sight stupid but i was curious about it why he liked it so much, the other game he introduced me to was Harvest moon which peaked my interest immidiatly and you know another go to game whenever you feel sad or lonely it makes you feel better in no time. A few months later i bought my own gamecube and discovered the magic of animal crossing and you know he was right animal crossing get's you trough times when life is tough, there is always something to do to keep your mind of and you know the game shines trough and trough with it's hapiness as you can't have a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I know there are more superior versions of animal crossing avaible now but the gamecube version will always have a special place in my heart. I think shenmue is another one i can possible relate to as helping me get trough tough times, even if there is more teen drama involved then anything as in the girl that i had a crush on despite teasing me for a few weeks, i finally gathered my courage to explain my feelings to her and she outright rejected me stating it was just a flirt to her, not only that but she felt the need humilite me in front of my school friends after that i felt heartbroken and embarrassed. I was playing trough the first shenmue at the time and you know it was an escape to another world that felt different yet so simulair due to it's realism. It made me fall in love without anything japanese and the protagonist Ryo, also helped me build back my confidence because he too was the underdog.
  13. There are a few games i can think of where you don't have to kill anybody hmm let's see: Watch dogs 2 -> would be a more out of the box answer but you can or atleast that is what i did do entire sections of the game stealthy with the use of your gadgets, since these gadgets get really overpowered once you level up a bit there is no reason to even cause a bloodbath since it's much more satisfying doing it the stealthy way. Watch dogs legion you could do also things stealthy but it was a lot harder to not get caught. Mirror's Edge -> Great games, probably forgotten by now from what i can remember you can beat the entire game without killing anybody, as you have the option to toss an enemy there weapons and take them out with your fists. Can't remember a whole lot about the games but you have the option atleast. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided -> while i do have a copy of this I never played it myself, it had an achievement/trophy that you were awarded for not killing anybody, maybe somebody who played it can chimp in with more detailed information. Kingdom come Deliverance -> Same deal as there is an achievement that awards you for not killing anybody, it's probably hard to achieve that since you pretty much going to have to flee from every bandit that attacks you. There is also a mission where you are part of a siege, which you can just do well nothing since you'll end up winning anyway. Thief series -> I only played deadly shadows on the original xbox, again i've got of the reboot that came out in 2015 but never played it, so i'll just talk about deadly shadows. From what i remember on higher difficulty's you weren't even allowed to kill anybody or it was game over for you, since you are a thief it's probably wiser to avoid conflict alltogether. I feel giving an honorable mention to Fall out new vegas aswell because i could swear i once saw a youtube video where you can beat the entire game without killing anything. I only played trough the game once myself and it's been quite a while so i don't remember much of it, sorry my brain isn't what it used to be.
  14. Gelsenkirchen where Schalke's home stadion is located is like a 4-5 hour drive depending on traffic away from where i live so it's not that far by other countries standards, you know uefa cup final 1997 i saw both legs of the final live on tv as an 11 year old, seeing my fellow country man, marc wilmots scoring the final penalty against inter to win schalke the uefa cup, ever since i've been a fan of schalke as it's a club that is always the underdog and you know i always liked the underdog team whenever the odds are against them. i'd rather stay a neutral supporter when it comes to my own countries football clubs as i don't find the belgian pro league all that exiting to watch to be honest.
  15. Can't think of anything because i own pretty much every console out there and can play whatever i want. I don't own a ps5 yet so gran turismo 7 and horizon forbidden west would be my answer sure i could play them on ps4 if i wanted but going to hold off until i'm able to get a ps5 and for that i'm not really in a rush at the moment. It's probably cheating but there are many city building and management games aswell as life simulation games on steam that aren't avaible anywhere else that i would like to give a try but for that i have to upgrade my computer which still works fine for what it needs to do and besides it's doubtfull i really want to support an all digital platform.
  16. While i don't read many ign reviews or watch their youtube channel, i feel like a lot of reviews in general should be taken with a grain of salt as A lot of reviews have to be rushed out of the door to be published in time, there is no way a reviewer could have played everithing a jrpg has to offer. Over the years i've started seeing reviews as more of a guideline rather then something to solely base your oppinion on wheter to purchase a game or not. There are so many websites out there that review games, so many youtubers that do stellar reviews of games i feel like the truth is always in the middle. Read reviews all you want and judge for yourself i'm your are going to like this game or not. It's probably a no brainer that you know yourself best of all wheter or not you are going to enjoy a certain game or not. You don't need a reviews for that. I've yet to pick up digimon survive and sould hackers 2 considering they got physical releases on xbox aswell i should make work of that sometime soon because i want to support these releases on getting a physical release on my platform of choice. I'm not even going to bother reading reviews for both games, because you know atlus their games have always been good amongst the very best the jrpg genre has to offer, same counts for the digimon games can't think off a single bad one i played over the years apperently digimon survive has many visual novel elements which is probably a good thing, to distant themselves from the clueless who would call it a pokemon clone. To get back to reviews I'd be more interested that companies start doing another review half a year or a year later after the game launched and give it another final score, many games get slammed because they are not finished and rightly so but take a game like no man's sky or final fantasy 15 and review the entire package that is what i'd interested in how the game performs and if anything is fixed etc etc. I'm usually a year behind when playing videogames so well maybe an idea for ign for people like me to follow up on their supposed shitty reviews lol.
  17. Videogames have always helped me trough some of my most rough times in my life so far eventough i don't really like to talk about it that much When i was playing trough the first State of decay my grandfather was very ill and died a week later after i started playing it so that will always be a game that i consider synonyms with the death of my grandfather. While i enjoyed the game thoroughly i never got around playing the second game maybe that is the reason because i'm scared to. My best friend died of leukemia when we were both 19 years old, adult life was just about to begin so i'd say pretty much any original xbox game we played together during our teenage years helps me get trough hard times, i still have his old xbox with all his saves files and every once in a while i race against his old ghost files in games like rallysport challenge and project gotham or boot up a game and try to beat his scores in tony hawk or continue where he left off in offcourse without saving, i know it doesn't mean much but it keeps my memory of him alive, he gave me one of his most priced possessions a week before he died eventough i find it ugly as fuck it still has a prominent place in my house i'm sure i posted a picture of it before in a thread somewhere. The good thing is that i'm still friend with his parents and i ended up dating his younger sister for 2 years but it just felt awkward because we came together trough sadness, we left on good terms tough, since i'm godfather of her son. Man i would like to mention a few more games but damn i'm getting tears in my eyes so i'll have to end here.
  18. I usually watch football as a neutral fan, i don't really have a favourite team apart from Fc Schalke 04 (and maybe Arsenal), but i doubt schalke are going to play any champions league football anytime soon, probably may already be happy if they survive this season in the bundesliga. I do however i'm a massive fan of my own country's national team, so by this i usually follow any Red devil that plays abroad closely no matter where they play and support the teams they play for.
  19. @Justin11 instead of opening a thread for each new rumour you hear, please consider making a thread along the lines The global football rumour thread and start posting rumours into one dedicated thread because now the entire sports section is out of control because of the many threads you created for let's say topics that aren't really worthy of their own thread like this thread for instance. I get it you like Barcelona, messi, ronaldo and neymar but are they really worth bringing up each time into a new topic, again try and keep the psg/barcelona talk into one global topic from now on.
  20. I don't think this topic has any purpose anymore so i'm going to lock it.
  21. @Heatman i've put about 10 hours into Monster energy supercross 5, must say it's not a bad game but it does nothing really to stand out from being nothing more then an above average game. Is it for you well that depends on wheter or not you are into supercross or not, if you have no interest in enduro racing i'd say skip it. Obvioulsy in typical Milestone fashion there is plenty to do other besides the races but it's execution could have more polished, like for example area there is a open world area where you have 3 minutes to search for letters and do a few whips and get an amount of points, where i am wondering what is the point in it all. The difficulty my god be sure to cranck it all the way to atleast medium because on the easier settings believe me, in 5 minute races you can lap the entire field and win the race with more then a minute ahead. Graphics wise it looks like an early ps4/xbone game like something like forza 5 which was a launch game looks much better then this, despite playing on a series x in this day and age could have done a little better, obviously it doesn't too matter all that much aslong as the racing as good and luckly that is good, the bikes feels good and are easy to control but hard to master. My only grip i have is that the tracks are a little bit too narrow for my taste compared to mxgp tracks and you'll know what i mean, offcourse it has to authentic. Overall it ain't a bad game but knowing milestone by now a lot of their games could use a little more polish, i know this is a rather niche product compared to something like the motogp series which have keep getting better and better each year like why not release a supercross game every other year, instead of turning into a yearly franchise and deliver a more polished product because i get the feeling even a diehard supercross fan is not going to buy this yearly. There is a lot to love here but be cautious it's not worth paying full price for, granted i only paid 22 euros for it i can see trough a few short commings here and there and i'll likely get my money's worth out it by the time i'm finished like If you want this is atleast a 50+ hours game. One last thing loading times on ps4/xbone are supposedly brutal from what i've read here and there, i can vouch for a few of the milestone games i've played in the past that that was the case so i suppose supercross 5 is no different. These are my first impressions, hope they are off any use.
  22. Speaking of david vs goliath I'd be curious how Club Brugge is going to perform now that they are in a group where they have chance for third place and maybe second place, i'm considering of getting tickets for their home game against atletico madrid if i can my hands on them. eventough i doubt they will get very far Ac milan is a team i'm looking forward to see them playing especially now they have an influx of belgian players now that their record signing is the most exiting talent we have in years, Charles De Ketelaere is probably going to be heir to eden hazard. I'm also kinda curious how divock origi is going to do, as he seems to have a nose for scoring important goals.
  23. I'd say collecting videogames altough nearly everybody who is into videogames seems to do it these days but i still get shit for it every once in a while, like dude why are you still buying all those games or how the heck do yo keep affording it all or why the fuck do you collect japanese region video games or it's time you grow up the fuck up, you know that sort off comments and in most cases even those comments even come from family and friends.
  24. I subscribed to Xbox live in order so i could watch youtube on my tv, in the early 360 days youtube was a paid app, they later reversed that decision and made it free, nowadays i just keep gold around for the games with gold you get every month other then that i have no real use for it since i don't game online. Also I don't really want to have anything to do with gamepass and all the other game services out there because i like my games physical.
  25. Lol skyrim has some of most non friendly npc's in any game i've played, wheter it's because of a bug or not some npc's will attack you out of nowhere for no reason at all or maybe i did steal something from them by accident i don't know, it's good for a laugh tough when they chase you all the way trough the world only for you to end up at a bandit or giant camp and getting them killed in the process 😂 Makes me think off that incest couple in rdr 2 where if you spared the big fat dude, he would chase you all over the entire map and if you had patience enough he could be attacked and killed by a wild animal.
