  1. Welcome aboard (to the best gaming forum on the internet)
  2. I feel like the embracer group has been a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry, like a big company that is still willing to take a gamble on a new ip or a franchise that has been considered long dead by many. Wheter or not their games are good let's leave that in between but they put out a variety of stuff under their different publisher labels (deep silver/thq nordic/etc) it's kinda hard not to like them as a company from a neutral standpoint.
  3. It's pretty clear we are going to get less and less exclusives with the way gaming has been going the past few years and the state it is in now. You also should consider in the fact that costs of videogames keep going up and up and most games take years to develop, riddle in the fact that a lot of games struggle to even turn a profit you can already guess developers are going to choose either go for an exclusivity deal wheter or not timed let's leave that in between or just try and put their games on as many platforms as possible. Speaking about time it takes to develop a game as you can already start to see that yearly franchises are struggling big time these days, either to innovate something new or in some cases devs even fail to develop a working product at launch (wwe 2k on switch for example) just because of a way too tight schedule. Also i don't really mind sony going to pc with their exclusives, sony fanboys aren't really happy with it i get that. But sony is a company and money has to be made above all and if it helps them to make a profit on their games, why not. Maybe we will get a second days gone that way because that is imo the best new ip sony brought to the table on the ps4.
  4. I've seen this one popping up a few times and while i'm a sucker for life simulation games, i'm going to hold off until the final release for now, got way too much to play anyway especially since Hokko life is also getting a release on consoles near the end of september.
  5. Not in recent years that i can remember i've been part of a hype train as i'm getting a bit to old for too be hyped about a new videogame/console release. As many of you know adult life is quite busy and you are just to busy with other stuff in general so whenever a game gets released it gets released, while i do follow the latest game releases and latest news a lot of times it just slips my mind whenever a game i'm exited for gets released. I did pick up xenoblade chronicles 3 on launch day but can't say i was counting the days until it got released. Just happen to have a store that sells videogames on my route that day. As far as hype trains go for consoles i'd say the original xbox, it was supposed to be this beefed up pc inside a console and you know the fact i went to hell and back to scrape the money together to be able to buy it on launch was quite an accomplishment, probably wouldn't do it agian tough. Various stores had these preview dvd's as preorder bonuses where you could watch clips from the launch games, i think i must have watched that dvd atleast 50 times by the time the xbox launched. As for a game then let it be tony hawk pro skater 2, this was in a time when nearly everybody was into skateboarding or atleast they tought they were but damn everybody was wearing skate shoes at the time, pants that were way too big and whatnot. Skateboarding was big over here so naturally the sequel to what many including myself at the time considered to be the best game of all time can't go wrong. I remember putting in a pre order months ahead before the games launch, studying every screenshot in detail along the way, trying to get to know the latest information etc. When it launched my god did it live up to the hype, yes it did and the rest is ancient history by now.
  6. I've played a lot of worse games but one game that always stood out to me as the biggest garbage i've played over the years was Charlie's Angels on the ps2 the fact that i paid full price for it made it even worse. Yes shame on me i know.
  7. There is so much lore and history here you could make atleast a couple of openworld games out of the Games of thrones ip and still have something new to tell everytime. The only problem is what company could afford the games of thrones ip, given it's one of the most populair tv shows of the past decade, one would assume securring the rights are going to expensive. I'd rather see a new season of the telltale series because the games of thrones one ended with a cliffhanger and more questions then answers imo. It will probably never happen tough but one can always hope.
  8. Yesterday I've already seen a few stores slashing the price down to 50 bucks already and that was before the game was even out, since it launches today. Woulden't be suprised if it goes down to 20-30 bucks within the next 2 months. Maybe at 20-25 i'll pick up a copy but as expected from violition they done and fucked it up (again). While i'm definalty going to play the game at some point, i kinda fear if sales are bad and they probably will be bad this is the nail in the coffin for the saints row franchise but you never know maybe thq nordic/deep silver will feel the need to remaster the first 2 games at some point in the future and milk the saints row ip completly dry and you know i would not be suprised if they did.
  9. Beating Street fighter 2 with Chun li in the arcades, man i felt like a complete boss for days, too bad mobile phones were not around back then so i could add some proof. Getting my very own mega drive for christmas in 1992 alongside ayrton senna super monaco gp 2. Wanted a master system at first because everybody had that console but my parents gave me the mega drive instead. Friday december 1st 2000 aka best memory getting back from school with the train and my mom would drive me to the nearest gaming store to get shenmue -> that game pretty much shaped me into who i am today, eventough it has aged fairly badly and is outdated by todays standards at the time it made me fall in love with everithing japanese resulting into starting collecting japanese region games something that is still going strong to this day.
  10. Don't think i ever replied to this thread, so let us change that now, i'll try not to go into obscure games too much this time. I always felt like the humour in saints row felt forced, some characters are likeable like johhny gat but he tries way too hard in later games to be funny that it feels unnatural. Goat simulator while i had a good laugh with it, the novelty wears off pretty quickly. Same with the Borderlands series, it just tries too hard to be funny. A lot of the early lucas arts point and click games like secret of monkey island and grim fadango just to name would be a perfect candidate for funniest videogames because the humour comes naturally, same with the leisure suit larry games (altough not all are great) you can't help but laughing when larry fucks up yet again. Offcourse both south park rpg's are a no brainer if you are a fan of the show, because it's full of typical south park humour. If we think outside the box a bit and name something like Gta 5, especially early game when you play as franklin together with lamar are supposed to be kidnapping a person and you have to take control of chop a dog, man i almost wet my pants when they fucked up yet again and had to let go of the person in the end. Like whenever lamar says something you just have to laugh another legendary conversation i can remember was between trevor and lamar when you have to drive together in a truck alongside franklin with stolen vehicles. Man whenever lamar opens his mouth you just know something stupid and funny will come out of it. The witcher 3, while it's a serious game, in a couple of side missions geralt get's made a complete fool out of himself. Maybe i should add another recent example and that's the outer wilds, from the side characters , your companions to the dialogue choice you can make a fool out of pretty much anybody that you can talk too. It's hard to not have a laugh at some of the whacky choices you can make and above all it feels natural. If an npc is talking for too long or annoying, you can tell them to shut up, just give them a punch in the face or if you feel really adventurous why not just shoot them lol. A couple of others that have not been mentioned before but are bound to make you smile, well if you're not a complete sour puss anyway : Yakazu series Lego City Undercover Bully Two point Hospital and Two point campus (haven't played campus myself yet but from the looks of it, looks to be funny as hell again ) Jak and dexter series Various Fmv games like Night trap and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties just to name two,( if only for the hilariously bad acting) Psychonauts Thimbleweed Park Skate series -> the hall of meat sections and the rediculous ragdoll physics always made me laugh Fable series And let's wrap things up with games that are funny when you are playing with somebody aka local coop -> mario party, wii sports and it's various reincarnations, Overcooked, Monopoly (especially when you are winning always good for a laugh), Mario vs sonic games, 2020 olympic tokyo just to name a few. Don't underestimate the power of playing games with somebody else or even a better a couple of people in the same room because everithing that is remotly competitive can turn out to be a funny experience.
  11. Just wondering any game in particuliar you favour that came from arc system works? I'm kinda out of loop with them after they went Playstation only for a few of their releases but from memory i've always enjoyed their blazblue and their older guilty gear titles. Capcom should arc system works the street fighter license i'm sure it would be an instant classic in no time.
  12. Biomutant could be another answer for this thread, i've already given a few good examples so far but like does anybody really cares and to be honest we have had enough threads about stray already, here is another one that's 4 pages long . Also another one worth mentioning is Chicken run while a movie tie in game is a suprisingly fun stealth based 3D platform. I picked up a copy on dreamcast on a shady flea market a few years after it's release and to me suprise i played it all the way trough. If it was my doing i'd lock this thread before things are getting out of hand but since i'd like to be proven wrong let's give it the benefit of the doubt for now.
  13. Clearly my post wasn't meant to be serious, if you feel personally attack i apoligize. Offcourse you can purchase whatever you want how the hell you want and if buying your videogames digital is you like doing by all means i'm not going stop you. I just like my games physical because otherwise i won't buy it, nobody is going to change my oppinion and stance about buying games/music/whatever digital and since i'm clearly in the minority here that prefers physical media over digital media maybe i should leave this topic for what it is before everybody starts ganging all up on me. One thing I can't get behind are the excuses of not having to go to a store anyway, just buy it online instead if you don't want to interact or be near other people we live 2022 not in 1995.
  14. So we're 2 Pages in and the only excuses i see coming up all time why people go digital only with their games is they are either too lazy to go to a physical store to buy a game or don't have the patience to wait for the damn mail to arrive when ordering something online, for shame on that. *Shakes head in disbelief*
  15. Oof finally got around and beated The council played through late in the night yesterday, only to begin today with the same thing some puzzles were brutal and for one i had to look up a guide online, others toke me a few hours to figure out, you get plenty of hints here and there, only problem in my case was you have to understand the hints the game throws at you, toke me a while to figure the hints out. I got a pretty decent ending altough couldn't save everybody but all in all well worth the 20+hours i putted into the game eventough the story is sometimes hard to follow early on, but it all falls into place into the last 2 episodes. Had to mop up a few achievements i've missed but with these type of games it's fairly easy since there is a chapter select and you can skip all the dialogue. I'd say a job well done and the perfect way to conlude my 3 week vacation, off to work we go tommorow.
  16. Last thing i lost was some weight and i'm not hoping to find it back.
  17. Thanks for the nice words justin much appreciated. I'll give my vote towards a rather new face as @runswithspatulas deserves to get my nomination hopefully this nomantion will be a motivation to continue posting here.
  18. @kingpotato i can get behind your review and mostly agree with everithing you said, but you should take into account that when the stick if truth launched it had this magical feeling from wow i'm actually in a south park episode and the fact you could just go and explore south park by itself was the first time and let's say that was one of the major strength of the game well atleast for me. That magic feeling was completly gone by the second game imo because you already done it the previous game, therefore i feel like both are equally good and well worth the time to complete both maybe not back to back but you know. If the fractured but whole would be your first south park gaming experience i'd even give at 8.5/10
  19. People are finally starting to realise that playing the game themselves is much more enjoyable then watch a stranger playing the game on a livestream. Never really understood the point of watching somebody playing a videogame when you can play it yourself, if you are in the same room i'm all for watching somebody i know play a game but a complete stranger i could care less about watching them play a game. Not that i'm pointing a finger at somebody who likes doing that as it's your free time and you have the right to do what you want with it. Could the decline in viewerships also be the case of just too much streamers around, like for every populair game there are atleast 500-1000 people streaming the same game, it's a bit oversaturated if you ask me, but what do i know?
  20. Probably should follow up on this and say Pokémon games could do with full voice acting atleast for the npc's not doing that anno 2022 is just lame, what do they have to lose with giving that npc a voice. Not implementing any voice acting at all in what is called the first true pokemon rpg for the big screen is just pure lazyness. But then again i'm probably not the target audience for pokemon games. Anyway you would guess that a multimillion franchise like pokemon would atleast have voice acting and you know the pokemon company are known to take the easy way out atleast in my oppinion. I'm not saying the main character should have a voice or anything, just the npc's characters as it would add so much more to the pokemon games. Did you ever try out Biomutant the main character is also silent and the npc's reminds me of the banjo-kazooie mumbling but 10 times worse because the npc's just won't shut up and then you have that damn narrator translating what they just said and won't shut up and feels the need to talk all the time but Overall it's quite a good game that suprised me in a positive way.
  21. How far did you get into The council? The game started really strong with the first episode as it's going to be a more darker version of the life is strange, the madusa puzzle was easy enough, but the bible one in episode 2 you could solve by just clicking every entry but damn it was a tough to figure out by myself makes me wish i paid more attention in religion class lol at the end of chapter 3. There is a lot of needless running around in the villa in later episodes well atleast my character got laid twice with the duchess so there is that for my efforts.
  22. Welcome to the board, if you like spyro the dragon i'm sure you'll get best mates with the poster above me in no time.
  23. Welcome to the forums please enjoy your stay and just talk about whatever you want to talk. Ps: Elden ring is not overhyped kind of agree on that
  24. Welcome to Vgr, don't be a stranger and let's get a discussion going every once in a while.
  25. No offence but why bid on something you have no intention of playing or using anyway? I've got a certain moral that if i'm not interested in something leave it for somebody else who is, it's called having respect towards other posters. This is the first time i made a bid on something as it's a visual novel and you know that is right up my alley.
