  1. The only one I tried was NordVPN. After the issues I had with it, I was soured on them and haven't used one since.
  2. Every culture has their own, and I'm not specifically asking about anything cultural, but I would enjoy hearing about those also. But is anyone superstitious? Do you believe any urban legends? Do you think any cryptids are real? For superstitions, I don't think I am. It doesn't bother me to pass under a ladder, black cats crossing my path mean nothing, and toads won't give you warts. For urban legends and cryptids, I'm not sure. It all depends on the legend and creature itself. I can't say I disbelieve any. I do believe there are creatures and forces out there that we don't possess the ability to understand. And many of which we don't know of. I'm not specifically referring to Nessie and Bigfoot. Others as well. For example two stories that have fascinated me for years are the stories of La Llorona and The Big Grey Man. I'm pretty sure everyone is somewhat familiar with La Llorona, but also sure that next to no one (except @Shagger and @Crazycrab) are familiar with The Big Grey Man. They would know more about the story than I do since it's a Scottish legend. But what I know, in a nutshell, is that there's a mount in Scotland (Cairngorns?) that is called Ben MacDhui. Climbers who have attempted and failed, and those who have successfully summited it have all reported a sudden sense of dread and absolute terror while on the mountain. Many report being followed by something they couldn't see, and others reported some form of grey humanoid creature chasing them down the mountain. No one knows what or why is there, but from my understanding, those that have been up there have refused to go near the mountain again. La Llorona is more famous, especially since the movie came out. My understanding of the legend is that she was an Aztec widow with 3 small children. She met a wealthy man and fell in love with him and placed all her hopes of a better life for her and her children with him. He didn't want to be tied down with a widow and another mans kids. So he left her. She lost it and drowned her kids in the river. Rio Bravo to Mexico, Rio Grande to USA. Upon realizing what she had done she went insane and ran up and down the river searching for her kids. What happened next is lost in variations of the story, but either she committed suicide or when the villagers found out what she had done they threw her into the river. Either way, she suffered the same fate as her children. Now her wraith is seen gliding along waterways at night, and her scream is one of the most terrifying anyone can hear. My sister's father (not sister by blood) heard and saw her one night. He was never the same man after that. Apart of him was broken while another was lost. She tries to drag children into the water and drown them, or anyone unlucky enough to encounter her. She has gone from a mad woman, to ghost, to pure evil daemon. Parents use the story to this day in Mexico and the southern US to try tokeep their children away from being stupid or playing in places like rivers where they could get swept away. While she may be a deterrent, she's also deadly in more ways than one.
  3. If you use any wireless hardware like a printer, your VPN will block it and not let you print. You would most likely have to run a cable between the two. The only way I was able to get mine to print was to delete and uninstall the VPN. I had NordVPN and it blocked all of my wireless stuff, not just my printer. Simply shutting the program down wasn't good enough to allow me to print. I had to delete the program. So personally I advise against getting a VPN.
  4. The Libertine is and always will be my favorite. It's Johnny Depp's best performance ever. I'm obsessed with both him and Tim Burton (Burton wasn't involved with The Libertine) and can't get enough of them. What he put into this movie is more than I have ever seen from any actor, him included. I'll admit that it's one of those movies that's hard to watch and follow the first time you see it, but if you give it another shot it's more than worth it. I have virtually everything Johnny Depp has put out, including some of his more obscure stuff, and a hell of a lot of Tim Burton. There's only one Johnny Depp movie that I can't watch, and that's Platoon. I can't watch war or military movies in general, so despite owning several copies (different covers) I'll never see the movie.
  5. The Libertine 2004 I'm a drama nut, and obsessed with Johnny Depp. He is the greatest actor of all time, and this is one of his absolute best roles ever.
  6. In Florida Desantis has flat out made mask mandates illegal. He has threatened to withdraw federal funding from any school district that opposes the law and mandates masks anyway. And any town that mandates masks is going to get fined more then the town can afford. Also he's the front runner, ahead of Adolf Jr even, for the radical right bid for the house and then the White House. If he gets any seat higher than Florida's governor, the entire country is 100% fucked. I don't give a shit what party he is or claims to be, his bullshit on Covid and masks will kill us all. Florida is already at maximum capacity in hospitals again, many of the sick being children. They're experiencing an average of 58 Covid related deaths per day. PER. FUCKING. DAY. This is a man who isn't even qualified to run a lemonade stand, let alone an entire state. Especially one that is also a popular tourist destination.
  7. My first real and true kiss was when I was 12. I don't know if it counts, but I could also say 2 or 3. It was a "you show me yours and I'll show you mine" kind of thing. It went past "showing" but that's another matter entirely. Children experimenting and not understanding what their experimenting actually was.
  8. Typically truth. I typicall don't hide anything, and I don't care who gets caught in the crossfire and ends up hurt. Also I'm an extremely skilled liar and could convince the queen of England that she is actually Jimmy Hoffa, but with her memory erased. Obviously that' a gross exaggeration, but it's also an analogy to express my deceptive ability.
  9. A thing or two here and there are accurate for me, but the majority is bullshit on my end. Characteristics A, C, D, and F may apply to me while B, E, and G apply to someone else. If you believe in that sort of thing, have fun. But you're not going to convert me into anyone who is afraid of what their horoscope will say today.
  10. No. Never forgive. Never forget.
  11. I'll bring the strays home, give them a bath, and let them come to bed.
  12. Despite both of us being girls, we don't really put much value in remembering things like that. A card is always appreciated. But hell I forget my own birthday. So if she does too it's no issue at all to me.
  13. I was going to mention that paper cuts burn as well. I would much rather bite my tongue. It's annoying as hell, sure. But it goes away quick. Also theres nothing in the question saying you would bite your tongue more then once when you start eating.
  14. I have about 8 teeth left. I wear a partial and dentures. The teeth are already gone. So technically my choice would have already been made by circumstance. But I personally would want to lose the day. If that was the case, I would go out on the town and kiss everyone I came across as many times as I could.
  15. Yeah but then you would have developers contacting you all the damn time wanting to offer you the "deal of a lifetime" to develop your undeveloped land.
  16. Maybe they think in racing terms telling themselves that they have to be the first to own whatever it is that's being scalped.
  17. Agreed. Knockoffs build ones that last just long enough to link with the system then quit. It keeps the gamer buying new controllers which in turn makes them more money. It's a business scheme that's shady as hell.
  18. The closest I come to any of that is watching the sliver spot. When it's low enough I buy. I'm stockpiling right now, and when it reaches high enough, I'll sell it. It's a good investment, as the precious metal market isn't ever going to disappear. I would invest in gold, but I can't afford that.
  19. I delete the text and pretend there's something wrong with my phone.
  20. I think there was talk about it, but with this year only being the 20th anniversary of the event I think it was rejected pretty quick. I may be wrong though.
  21. Wow. Something similar to that happened here about 20 years ago, but ended up much worse. This was all in HS mind you. This kids girlfriend dumped him. Well a few days later he grabbed her and took off. It ended up in a police chase down the highway. He had a .357 with him which is how he got her in the car. He shot and killed her, then killed himself after plowing into a tree. I knew both of them, despite not going to their school. It was weird at the time because up until that point I had never been that close to a murder. But it is what it is.
