  1. It would no longer exist. There are more than enough terrorists in the world to worry about, we don't need them here domestically.
  2. Ok, I have a few games that from what I gather are extremely popular. People seem to just love them. Two that come to mind are Skyrim and The Witcher 3. Skyrim is a beautiful game, and I'm hoping to get more into it, but I still don't get the mass fascination with it. The Witcher 3, I just don't get at all. I couldn't get into it. It just didn't hook me. Now I'm not trying to insult or disrespect any of these games or those that enjoy them. I'm just trying to get some perspectives and have other people do the same with some of their games. I know some of you have Dark Souls, but upon playing it couldn't figure out the fascination with it. Or maybe you have Devil May Cry. Same thing applies.
  3. Initially, I hated AC. I hated all the bullshit at the beginning of AC1. It took forever and seemed to never end. I finally said fuck it, and gave up. I year or two later I decided to give the series another shot, but instead tried AC3 this time as I had AC1-3. This time I loved it. The game is awesome. I don't know enough about the game to point out any specifics as I'm not very far into it, and to be honest, have gotten sidetracked by getting into other games. But I'm planning on getting back into it here soon.
  4. The FF7 remake and FF8 remaster. People were hyped for it, but after release, no one cared. Sure FF8 looked prettier, but FF7 was where the real problem was, as they removed content from the game. After it was discovered that FF7 was slashed and the only change to FF8 was graphics and that ability to get a couple items without needing a PocketStation, people no longer cared.
  5. If I buy a disc I have to have the original box and artwork. If I was at GameStop I wouldn't even look at the games that had their box. Just that white label and the title? That tells me that someone didn't take proper care of the game they sold to the store and that I need to move on. Also, if it's not a title I'm familiar with, how the hell am I to know what the game is even about without being able to see screenshots? Had it not been for screenshots, I would have never gotten into Assassin's Creed. I would have assumed it was some military style game where you are an elite sniper trying to take out a political target. They have titles that I've never seen, so I can't exactly look up the screenshots before I go in.
  6. Whoops. I play a lot of adventure games from the 80's. I'm the only classic gamer here. I stick almost exclusively to the old stuff.
  7. Being a Nintendo fan I would say that the reason it has the following it does, is because many of us grew up on Nintendo, which eventually became our favorite for one reason or another. It's mostly not a fanboy thing. I play PlayStation almost as much as I play Nintendo these days. But Nintendo is still my favorite. It may be loyalty, or possibly nostalgia. I honestly don't know on that one. But I think the same could be said for those that grew up on Xbox or PlayStation. It became their favorite for one reason or another because it's what they grew up on. I remember when the NES/SNES flashback systems were initially released, there were people hacking them and adding hundreds of games to them. From multiple systems. You could then buy a NES Flashback (or whatever the hell it was called) and instead of 30(?) games on it, you now had 200+ games at least. Either Nintendo never caught on, or they didn't care about this one.
  8. One thing that no one has mentioned yet is the elderly. There are nursing homes around here that use video games to help those at risk to keep their reflexes and minds sharp, while giving them entertainment at the same time. They typically don't use anything fancy. SNES mostly as with it having fewer buttons it's less confusing. They give them simple games like Super Mario World and educational ones like Mario Is Missing. In reviews it was shown to be a boon to the health of their residents. And the employees will often talk about the games they played as kids, and if a resident shows interest, and the employee still has it, they often bring it in. Some of the less gory fighting games like Street Fighter II are offered in some places for residents when/if they need to blow off some steam. I bet you never pictured your 86 year old grandma beating the shit out of M. Bison or Bowser did you? I worked at a nursing home more than 20 years ago, and I remember seeing the residents playing video games together. It was extra special to me because I worked in the Alzheimer's unit. The only stipulation was that they didn't allow anything too realistic, or that used guns. There were patients in the unit that had EXTREME PTSD from war, and even a door closing semi-hard was enough to kick in their shell shock and make them dive for cover. If a car drove by with its bass turned up too loud, same thing. So they got the calmest more child friendly games that had no loud sounds or anything that could sound like gunfire or explosions. It was tricky to keep them calm due to the horrors they went through, but the nurses and doctors were good at their jobs and did their best and helped a lot of them. TL/DR - Video games can be beneficial to all ages from toddlers to the elderly.
  9. I highly doubt it. They're in it to make money, and partnering up with their competitors could be pulling up a rig with a trailer full of $100 bills, or it could be chapter 11. You don't know if your competitor would be trying to gain inside information about your company (legalities aside) to destroy you, or if they were sincere about a mutually beneficial collaboration. So many developers in so many business worlds are beyond vindictive and will do anything to destroy the competition. Be it video gaming, automotive, food/beverage, toys, or even ink pens. It would take an iron clad 7000 page contract that covers everything from friendly discussion, to invoking the power of Satan to make sure that no one can maliciously fuck over the other one. But even then, there are always loopholes, and some world power lawyer will find them. For a price. So I think the smartest thing for them to do is stay away from collaborations and concentrate on their own devices. Game developers that release a game for all 3 systems (Skyrim for example) are another discussion for another time, as that is an entirely different case.
  10. Has anyone played any games that simply made you say "WHAT THE FUCK" due to the script? I'm not talking about glitches or unfinished games. Games that had something set up so bullshit way that you wanted to call the publisher and ask them those simple 3 words? Maybe a vital item was in a completely illogical location, or it was so cryptic that no one on earth could have deciphered it? I have been there in 2 games that I can think of off the top of my head. Blaster Master--- You go to the third area as you would expect. The entrance to Area 2 is in Area 1, the entrance to Area 3 is in Area 2. The entrance to Area 4 IS HIDDEN IN AREA 1. WHAT THE FUCK? Name me one person that is going to say "Well I made it through Area 3, so I better head to Area 1 so I can get to Area 4." Final Fantasy VIII--- The end of disc one. Quistis, Zell, and Selphie are all locked in Caraway's mansion. To leave you only clue is a painting. The painting is trying to tell you that you have to take a glass from the shelf and put it in the statues hand in the corner of the room. WHAT THE FUCK? Who the hell is going to figure that one out? Then you have the Solomon Ring. The most cryptic god damn item I have ever seen in a game. No one is going to think there's anything like that in a location like Tears Point. Then you have to have 6 of three very specific items, one of which I can almost guarantee you don't, and won't have? 6 Malboro tentacles, 6 remedy+, and 6 steel pipes. Who carries a remedy+ with them? Who even bothers to upgrade their remedies to a remedy+? And who is going to think that there MUST be something in the corner of the map, way out in the ocean? The Deep Sea Research Center is what's hidden way out there. The only reason to even go there is because there are 2 GF's there. You also have the Centra Ruins. I don't know anyone who would stick around to kill 20 Tonberry's to get the Tonberry King GF. You can also get Odin, the semi-GF as the game calls him. I call him a pain in the ass and not worth getting. WHAT. THE. FUCK.
  11. I don't think eccentric is the correct word. Xenophobic, racist, pro-nazi rhetoric, antiMuslim, antiSemitic, homophobic, transphobic, hate monger, psychopath, traitor, terrorist, moron, insane, and worthless are the better choices.
  12. The options in 2016 were a career politician, or a shady reality TV star that ran a literal criminal enterprise. Wow, that IS a hard decision. ^note the sarcasm^
  13. So are you saying I should give up my NES, SNES, and N64 and go straight to a PS5 because the past should stay in the past? I see then that you have already gotten rid of your Xbox One and PS4.
  14. Ok people, the topic is about retro systems. Not recent shit that came out less than 20 years ago, the exception being the Dreamcast.
  15. The most fun weapons I can think of are the skillet in Conker's Bad Fur Day, and the explosive gas bomb Terrance and Philip dolls in South Park 64. The egg launcher was kinda funny too.
  16. This question is the reason I play Hatred. The let out my biggest fantasy and innermost desires. The only difference between me and The Antagonist is I'm a girl.
  17. Ascendance is a good escape. Or I go to something I know virtually or literally everything about.
  18. I only do it if I don't have to worry about how much space I have. If space isn't an issue, and like @Kane99 said, the item is easy to find, then I'll use it up.
  19. I see now that I neglected to mention that I was playing Zelda BOTW.
  20. Lenny says it in RDR2. Granted he's black and the context wasn't in anger. He was talking to Arthur and mentioned that due to them being friends people might call him "a nigger lover". The game takes place in 1899, so I guess the script writers put things like that in there for added realism. There are also more times that I have bothered to count the use of the word "darkies" in the game. It goes to show how much things have evolved from then to now. Granted there are still racists and racist groups, but they're mostly inbred trash that couldn't tell a tree from a truck, so I don't give them any notice until they give me notice. Then I tazer them.
  21. The cancer part I think was cooked up by the video game adversaries. They claimed for years prior that video games were a strain on the eyes and caused vision issues. They also claimed that they gave kids poor motor functions and slower reflexes. Which has been proven repeatedly to be false. As for the headaches, the one I used did actually give me a headache. Not a migraine, but a headache. It affected different people different ways, the same as everything else in gaming. For example I can't play military games like Call Of Duty, due to trauma from my time in the military. I know a girl who can't play Mario games because she had a brother named Mario who got killed in a car crash. Different games for different people.
  22. There was a space movie, I wish I could remember the name, that was nothing but a 2 hour Head & Shoulders commercial. Some kids I knew had it, and neglected to tell me about what it actually was. 😐😑😐
  23. I tried to watch Life Of Pi, but I just couldn't get into it. I can't say it sucked, but it had no draw for me. It was just a kid in a boat with a tiger. Nothing else. I was like "This is the movie? I could watch grass grow and be more entertained." There was another movie like that, but at the moment I don't remember the name of it. Just goes to show you how memorable these movies are.
  24. I started an Instagram, but it's just for pictures of my pets. Most of them are on there, but not all of them. I need to get some more pics.
