That's pretty cool then. I might have to download Warzone to check it out because I don't have access to Vanguard, only Cold War. It would be a pretty surreal experience to see a massive King Kong on the map attacking you especially if they've done a good job with the PS5 haptics.

kingpotato reacted to Yaramaki in Is it wise to spend money on free to play games?
Don't know why i never followed up to this but better later then never. I've been messing around a bit with a few free to play games in the app store on my dad his old ipad to get a better idea of free to play games. Well needless to say it wasn't  the greatest experience i've had, one game blocked me entirely after about 10 minutes because my daily time playtime was up and wanted 4,99 to continue, eh fuck it deleted. So i tried a random rpg who's name i forgotten already and low and behold i immediately was welcomed with a screen to buy their shit, i played it for about half an hour and yeah while the game was not that half bad i'd much rather prefer they charged money for it and be done with it instead of reminding me after every battle i can have a better experience for only 9,99. Yeah no I'm not gonna fall for this shit.
The problem there is with these "games" they will be gone in a few years time and you mostlikely will not have the option to continue playing said game because correct me if i'm wrong most woulden't function anymore without an internet connection. If you have spend money on them it's gone, if you happen to feel nostalgic and want to play that free to play game you loved 10 years ago, you probably can't.
You could say the same with multiplayer games, once the servers are gone the game is gone. Remember MAG on the ps3 yeah me neither but it is one of many games that is lost in time and 99,9% Of those free to play games will end up with the same fate, so my conclusion it's not wise to spend money on free to play games, you're better off buying a gift for your mother ( it's mothers day next week )or spend it on a real game.
To conclude if you make it this far is why i feel like games are becoming more and more consumables, products of their time, with zero intention of being preserved for the future and to me it feels like nobody gives a fuck about that. Music and movies are preserved fairly well, why not videogames even if they are free to play.
Damn kind of went on a rant but feels good to spit it out nonetheless.

kingpotato got a reaction from NightmareFarm in Unpopular Opinion: All games should have a difficulty slider
I will disagree on this one, Im not a fan of souls games , I actually have a lot of complaints about them, but with that being said I think that the difficulty adds up to the inmersion and the atmosphere of the game, for example in Souls games the world is almost always described as a dangerous place were death lurks at every corner , if the game had a difficulty level you wouldnt have to worry about whats on the other side of a door or whats behind the next tree, but since the game is so difficult that you can lose your "souls"(or whatever currency the game has) at the slightest mistake, you have to be carefull as to where you go and what you do in the that world giving you a feeling of uneasiness but at the same time rewarding you if you are able to overcome those dangerous places. At the end of the day I think that the difficulty is what makes souls games special, I just wish they added a fucking pause option for once, that should be on every game no exceptions unless its a purely online game.

Fair enough. My opinion? If gamers want that they can choose that. There is nothing wrong with that, however there should be a difficulty slider so gamers who prefer a more fair challenge with steadier progression and less repetitiveness can have that. There's zero downsides to more options when it comes to difficulty.

kingpotato reacted to Yaramaki in What Video game Genres Did You Used to Love but Don't Play Very Much Anymore?
As title says what video game genre did you played a lot back in the day but not so much or not at all anymore these days?
    For me it's :
Fighting games -> I just don't really have the time and patience to put hundreds of hours into a fighting game in order to become good at it anymore. I used to put hundreds of hours into games like street fighter, mortal kombat, king of fighters, guilty gear, etc etc to master every fighter. I still play and buy some but just for the story mode once i beat that i'm usually done with the game. This used to be my favourite genre for years but now eh.
First person shooters ->  used to play a lot of them but just for the campaign but since those become either absent or shorter with every new release, can't say i've played a fps in years.
Real time strategy -> used to play a ton of settlers and age of empires 2 back in the day on my dad's pc. I feel like Rts games you need to play on pc, sure some work fine on consoles like civililaztion 6 amongst a bunch of others but i would much rather play these with a mouse and keyboard, needless to say if i was to play them these suck up a lot time.
Platformers -> Pretty much the dominant genre in the early 90 ies, every console had dozens of them. I really loved platformers up until a few years ago, these days whenever i try to play one, i lose interest quickly and you know i just find them boring.

Well if they reduce it to only a few selected boss fights rather than random encounters like in Skyrim then it could probably work.

I do understand that fighting them really gets frustrating to a point of paranoia but all I'm trying to say was that if it's possible to reduce how often that happens.

It's a minor complaint but the driving physics (is that the right term?) of Grand Theft Auto V always bugged me. I preferred the physics in Grand Theft Auto 4 because it was harder to master cars since they felt quite heavy and you had to be somewhat skilled to drive quickly.

some rumors just came up, dont know if they are true or not but most of the times is not so take it with a grain of salt.

-It will be set in Hammerfell
    -No dragons (thank you talos)
-game currently in full development early stages, probable release by 2025/26 (fuck...)
-game will have a political system
-betrayals, marriage and factions will matter, unlike TES5 were you were basically the leader of all  skyrim

Lol skyrim man i always hated how easy the dragons were to kill, on the default difficulty if you're leveled up a bit you can kill them in a couple of blows. Also when i think back of it, most missions were about clearing either a cave/castle/tomb and kill everithing inside it, rinse and repeat.
->Breath of the wild : while a classic no doubt, breakable weapons and shields always annoyed the fuck out of me.
->Pokemon games i always found a little too easy, should have an option to make it more difficult
-> and on the contrary Dark souls games should have the option of a more easier mode for gamers who just want to experience the game and the world, without having to go trough endless frustration because you can't beat an area.
->in most open world game the car physics feel way too off, like why does the car behave like you're driving on ice.

Malboros are worse imo. They can just one shot your entire team at the first turn in battle(before you can even try to escape) with stone breath or bad breath. Whoever put it in FFX is a sadist.

I dont have many but mine are:
    - Videogames of course
    - Drawing, Im not that good but I have been drawing since middle school, I make some doodles or draw some character ideas at least once a day
    - I love to watch history videos on Youtube, I used to watch the history channel when it was about history. As well some of my drawing ideas come from past events like wars or stuff like that.
    - I read a lot of Manga, like a lot 😆, Right now Im following 17 ongoing Mangas according to my bookmarks, the number tends to increase or decrease. And during the day I usually just scroll around my favorite webpage for mangas looking for something new. I try to read a little bit of everything my favorites are Action, horror/suspense and romantic comedies.

kingpotato reacted to Crazycrab in Burnout
From the very first entry Burnout was always an intense, edge of your seat type of racing experience.  I always remembered watching this first trailer.

I'll be honest, the original Burnout wasn't that great a game especially when compared to the titles that would come from the franchise later on.  What it do a brilliant job at was selling it's concept.  The tension and intensity of racing through traffic was friggin awesome!  The crashing along with all the realistic physics and deformation was super cool, but the problem was that they kinda put those aspects left, right and centre and didn't focus enough on the actual racing.

They no doubt realized this and put way more focus on the racing in the sequel, Burnout 2: Point of Impact

This was fucking spectacular!  They absolutely nailed it this time with much better presentation, track design, new modes like crash party, improved mechanics and the time to recover from crashing was significantly reduced making a much smoother racing experience.  I actually remember thinking at the time "they cannot possibly make this any better"....

.... Thankfully, I could not have been more wrong!!!!

Burnout 3: Takedown!  This in my opinion is hands down the greatest arcade racer of all time!  It takes all the intensity and excitement of Point of Impact and ramps it all the way up to Spinal Tap!
Every new element that it introduces was gold.  Crash radio, a fantastic soundtrack (an actual legit benefit to having EA at your back, credit where it's due), a reworked crash party where the result was less dependent on luck and visuals so fucking good it could easily be mistaken for a XBox 360/PS3 game. But none of these had as big an impact as the stroke of genius that was Takedowns.  If you drove a rival off the road your boost bar would expand and fill completely, but if you were taken out your boost bar would empty and reduce.  It encouraged ruthlessly aggressive driving even more so than its predecessors.  The perfect arcade racer.

    Then came Burnout: Revenue

This was another fantastic game, very similar to but not quite as good as Takedown.  There actually a handful of improvements here.  The crash party was reworked with a cleaner less distracting visuals and the new crashbreaker explosion.  It introduced network play, some new racing modes like elimination and the great new revenge mechanic which highlighted the last competitor to take you out making your piss boil and you become lazer focused on them for a revenge takedown.
There were some downgrades though.  The soundtrack and crash radio presentation weren't as good.  It indroduced shortcuts, a cool feature in other racers but here in my opinion works against what Burnout is about.  The worst thing, however was the new traffic checking mechanic which allowed you to just drive straight through traffic going same direction as long as it wasn't a bus or a truck.  This was a really stupid idea because it took a way so much of the tension.  Still a great game, but it doesn't hold up to the masterpiece that is Takedown.

Then came Burnout Paradise,  which I refuse to dignify with a flashy video so instead here is a picture of something that more accurately represents it...

Burnout Paradise is a near perfect execution..... OF SOME OF THE WORST FUCKING IDEAS IN THE HISTORY OF GAME DESIGN!!!!  I've seen so many people that defend that abomination and it makes me sick.  If the earlier games where sitting in the driver's seat with you butt clenched desperately trying to survive, this one was slouching back with one hand on the wheel and the other grabbing a bottle of cheap whisky looking for a place to die.
@Shagger already discussed the flawed concepts with the open world and the bullshit removal of local play so I won't rant about them to much but there is more I would like to add.
The intense edge of your seat concept we had with the other games is only delivered in short bursts at best.  You spend most of your time driving across what is essentially and open world menu selecting your vehicle, event and so on.  Then when done with the even you go back to the open world menu to select you next event your next event and vehicle rinse and repeat.  The main concept that EA and Criterion sold this game on's main purpose is there to literally waste your fucking time.
Even if you are one of those people that do genuinely like Paradise you have to a least acknowledge this.  It is NOT a Burnout experience.

After this Burnout was essentially folded into the Need For Speed franchise never to be seen again, but considering their idea of "Paradise", that's probably for the best.
