I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think there was something cooler about the lighting in the first game, but it's hard for me to explain why it was cooler. But Rapture still was awesome to explore more of, and I loved the story/characters. Also, it's almost odd Ken Levine didn't work on BioShock 2, given how strongly the themes seem to link to Infinite's.

For me it was Bioshock, back when it released I never paid much attention to it , but in the last year I've become a fan of the franchise, specially the first game.

There is to much comments to quote so I'm just going to recap as much as I can.

@Joshua Farrell sorry dude you kinda poke the beehive on this one xD. Following up on your topic, yeah there is a lot of suggestible people out there, but I dont think that videogames are directly responsible for violence. Regarding your comment about some criminals pointing out that their crimes where inspired or influenced in some way by videogames, well that might be true, but then again a crime can be influenced by anything or anybody if you have the imagination and motivation 😆 criminals will pin their crimes on anything just to avoid guilt. On a lesser example a parent will blame videogames for his kid not doing homework instead of taking the blame for not restricting hours of play and discipline his child. By the way you never directly said that you though that videogames where the cause of violence, you where just asking for an opinion on the topic and I think a lot of people on the forum misunderstood that. And as a fellow member welcome to the forum and I'm glad to see that you are more active here, its a small forum but is good to see it grow.

@Crazycrab I agree with you I'm also sick of people that use videogames as a scapegoat for the reason of violence. For example not to long ago there was a school shooting in Mexico, surprisingly school shootings are rare here even though that the violence is at its peak on the streets. Basically what happened is that a kid killed his teacher and some students, the kid had a white t-shirt with the slogan Natural selection which is an obvious reference to the Columbine High School massacre, the shooters of Columbine had the same t-shirt. The Mexican governor blamed the reason of the shooting on a game called Natural Selection which is a damn unknown alien shooter that has nothing to do with the actual problem, he said the kid was influenced by the game, when he was obviously influenced by another school shooting.

@skyfire I want to start by saying that I appreciate you being part of the forum and I nominated you for the member of the month because you are constantly active and contributing to the forum. With that being said I disagree here with you dude, its not denying, its facts. I've seen some of the studies you mentioned and well they are mostly published by associations that are against videogames so the studies are probably biased. If those studies where true you and me should have been cold blooded killers since we play videogames a lot 😆 Aggressive behavior can be triggered by anything depending on the person, I remember there was once a case where some dude killed his neighbor over a unmowed lawn.

Thank you for the nomiation @The Blackangel, but I don't deserve it. Life has gotten the way in recent weeks and I have just not been active enough to warrant a  nomination. @Crazycrab, @kingpotato and @DylanC are my nominees.

kingpotato reacted to DylanC in Did anything in Rapture (in Bioshock) deserve to be saved?
At its core, Rapture is a city that has fallen because of its Libertarian/Objectivist values and politics. The people at the heart of Rapture are the victims and were just "too free", if that makes sense. However, I don't think *all* the people there were evil and unworthy of saving. Most have simply descended into madness because of drug use, though. Tenenbaum is a good character IIRC.
Furthermore, much like the Little Sisters, I'd say the Big Daddies deserved saving, too. They don't seem "evil" per se. Essentially, they're just doing their job as protectors.

In Bioshock 1, there is a point where Fontaine says something to you about “nothing down here deserves to be saved.” From a moral standpoint, I think it’s fairly obvious the Little Sisters deserve to be saved. But do you think anything else in Rapture deserves to be saved?
It’s easy for me to lean toward his misanthropy regarding the place. But judging from some interactions and recordings lying around the place, to me it seems like most of the populace were foolish albeit ordinary people who invested into a concept that wasn’t going to pan out. I suspect that at least some of them must have survived (I haven’t played Bioshock 2 yet) after the city went insane, and like Tannenbaum, may have evolved as human beings (in the way that truly matters). So I reckon Rapture might be worth saving. Plus, the place itself is a marvel, and surely such vision deserves to be spared and redirected toward something positive if possible.
Did you feel Rapture had any redeeming qualities or possibilities?

Actually, I thought Bioshock 2 was excellent (I just finished it). It lacks some of the "cleverness" of the first game, but the storyline is solid, the locations are cool, you learn a lot more about the history of Rapture--including insights into Bioshock 1, and there were a couple of gameplay elements I liked better as well. I would say it is my least favorite of the three games, but that still makes it an amazing game.

kingpotato reacted to StaceyPowers in Bioshock 2: What Happened to Delta?
    *****SPOILERS BELOW.*****

I finished my first playthrough of Bioshock 2 last night. Amazing game overall, and somewhat under recognized in my opinion.
Some matters did confuse me though, in particular the ending. I don’t understand for sure what killed Delta. In fact, I’m not even sure if Delta died.
My understanding of the situation is that once the bond between Delta and Eleanor was severed, if Delta were left untreated, he would either 1-lapse into a coma, or 2-go insane.
By setting the explosives, I assume Lamb’s goal was to kill Delta on the instant. This would transport him to a Vita Chamber, where he would regenerate. But by then the sub would be on its way to the surface, and Persephone would be sinking into the depths where he’d ultimately die permanently.
Instead, he survived and hung on long enough to reach the surface.
What happened to him then? Did he have a delayed death from his injuries? Or was he slipping into a coma? If the latter, would Eleanor’s act in removing the ADAM have killed him? Or would he have remained comatose?
At that rate, how did Eleanor plan to save him on the surface in the first place? I never was clear on that.
I appreciate any light anyone can shed!
@DylanC In particular, if you have any insights or theories, I'd love to hear them

    Sonic - 7/10

I went to see it this past weekend, its not bad, I mean its not the greatest movie in the world and it does have some lame jokes here and there, but overall is a good movie. Sonic has its moments but most of his funny scenes are lame. Jim Carrey was awesome as Dr Eggman he was hilarious in every scene, he really embraced his mad scientist character , actually now that I think about it the movie is only good because of Jim Carrey xD.

Went back to my inward perfection save. Decided to spare the Determined Exterminator neighboring me. Still alive, and they aren’t enemies anymore since I synthetically ascended. North of me is a Driven Assimilator who eventually cut down one of my neighbors, only to get roadblocked by the Enigmatic Observer Fallen Empire. They shifted gears and began to fight the local Fanatical Purifier instead.

It’s not bad, I just didn’t jive with it, personally. It’s well acted, well shot and well made but it didn’t resonate with me. I found it hard to follow (watching it a little bit drunk probably wasn’t the best idea as it’s hard to follow the subtitles). Perhaps I may like it more on a second viewing. *shrugs*
