  1. @Smokey has perfectly shown the issues with the name. It's like somebody just randomly picked out two overused gaming buzzwords to smash together. Why noy not "Shadow War" or "Origins Crusade".

I've got a similar complaint about the way the game looks. The graphics look great and it is actually very pretty, but design wise it looks like somebody was trying to check of a list of popular tropes. We got dragon things, zombie things, demon things, wolf things, spider things, shields and swords, bows and arrows, men's armour covering everything, woman's armour covering almost nothing, campfires, horses, castles, it has the lot! I'm reminded of just about everything from Warframe to Skyrim, Bloodborne, Black Desert, The Last of Us, Dragon's Dogma, this list goes on. Whilst those are good games, that is not a good thing for Chrono Odyssey. This feels like a game developed by committee more than creativity.

So it's clichéd in its name, it's clichéd in it's presentation, so I have no reason to believe it will be anything other than clichéd in every other way as well. And if this is FTP, then forget about it, it will be a greedy, soulless grind on top of all that.

  2. Honestly, I'm not pumped if this is a new generation of Xbox. There just hasn't been anything within the tech space boasting an innovation worth getting existed about in recent years. The fast SSD's and power boost for the PS5 and Xbox Series X were well implemented and used to great affect, but did little to change the gameplay experience. Xbox have been especially guilty of doing nothing other than basic hardware upgrades over the last two generations of console, so a new a new Xbox home console does not boil my pasta. An Xbox handheld, now that is a little more interesting, but that aforementioned lack of innovation from Xbox leaves me worried that it's just going to be a copy of the Steam Deck and other recent PC handhelds.

  3. Another day, another disastrous game launch. This time it's Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection from Aspyr, the same company behind the recent, and to fair quite well received, Tomb Raider Remasters, but that just makes this catastrophe all the more sad.

    1290649335_Screenshot2024-03-15112110.thumb.jpg.8ea8f5a2749321057c90a02df251e4b5.jpg

(BTW Steam, in what way is this game like Fallout 4?)

First, at launch there were only 3 servers for the multiplayer available leaving room for only around 200 players total, so we're already into some deeply stupid territory here. Then there issues with crashes (Like when one tries to search for a game mode, for example), graphical glitches, lagging, rubber banding and so on. The game is barely playable online, which is the main draw for this franchise.

But wait, there's more. The new file format makes the game incompatible with most currently available mods for the original games, so we can't expect the community to come to the rescue anytime soon. And also, can somebody explain to me why the game is 50GB in size?

    908545602_Screenshot2024-03-15112511.jpg.65d369d798bcf81f74cc0ea418e10ac3.jpg

I know that it's two full games with a graphical update, but they're still 20 years old! There is no reason for this other than Aspyr being unwilling to compress the game's though sheer laziness. There is a rumour that Aspyr did this to improve compatibility on the Steam Deck, but I don't buy that because, as you can see, it's not like one needs a particularly powerful PC to run this. I got annoyed to find the PC port of Final Fantasy XIII being 50GB+ as a 13 year old game, but at least I understand why that port is so large. The cut scenes in that game are largely made of digitally animated video clips that take up a lot of space and are all in there twice to be compatible with both the English and Japanese voice overs. So there is an explanation for that. I don't feel that Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection has such an excuse.

Companies can't even take games that worked fine 20 years ago and make then work now, what a joke.

I'm playing FFX Remastered on PS3. The last time I played it was 10 years ago to the month, I got to Braska's Final Aeon and kept getting my butt kicked, so I stopped. Earlier this month I started a fresh playthrough and am now back at the same boss, grinding so I can beat the game this time. It's been a great nostalgia trip.

After I beat FFX I'll replay FFX-2, then move on to replay Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.

Have you done any of the optional content like the celestial weapons, collected for the monster arena obtained Anima or the Magus Sisters aeons, fought the dark aeons or the omega weapon?

  5. A game based of Felix the Cat? That very early cartoon from the 1920's? Releasing a game based of Felix the Cat makes even less sence now than it did in the 80's. At least there was a movie that came out around that time. It was crap, but at least it existed. Seriously, who asked for this?

The permice of Felix the Cat is that Felix has a magic bag he can morph into anything he wants. That's a cool concept for a video game, it really is. If one wanted to make a video game based off that, why not make something new? Use the modern tools and modern know-how how to help this concept reach it's full potential? Think about that, think about how the game hasn't seen any noticeable enhancements and think about that ridiculous price and you will probably come to the same conclusion I did. This is a lazy cash grab. Some lazy ass hat has somehow acquired this IP and seeks to make a quick and easy quid out of it.

It does look like decent game for it's time, but it obviously hasn't been remebered otherwise more people would know about it. If it had no impact then, there is no reason to expect it to have an impact now. This just isn't worth even the low effort that has been out into it.

  6. I couldn't agree with you less.

First off, whilst the smartphone is something fairly new, gaming on portable devices is not.  Literally every positive you just listed has been perfectly possible since the 80's with the Game Boy and other simmilar devices. The technoligy has advanced, of course, but that's something to expect, not praise. Not to mention that advancement of technoligy has happend throughout the gaming space, not just in portable devices, so it's not unique at all.

Second, even if one is impressed by the technoligy (And despite what I just said, I actually am), that isn't what matters. What matters is how the gameplay experiance has been enhanced, and that is whare we run into the huge issues with mobile gaming. That being the actual games. The Apple App and Google play stores are are oceans of shovelware riddled with the most greedy, anti-comsumer business practices the gaming space has ever seen. The technoligy may have grown leaps and bounds, but the games themselves are a joke.

It frustrates me to see so many people on forums and social media make posts like this just expecting the world to join in with them in licking mobile gamings starfish as if that's the only thing that makes sense do. As if if there is literally nothing begative and we should all worship mobile gaming.

Well, not me, not ever. Mobile gaming is crap and it will continue to be crap because of people like yourself @Kennysplash who, with all due respect, don't know any better. It's not your fault, you likely just aren't old enough to remember what gaming was like before the digital STD we call mobile gaming infected it. Well, I am, and when I say thing used to be better, that's not nostalgia, it's just a fact.

Here is this post in English for the benefit of everyone else.

I am posting this after using a translator in the hope this message is understood more clearly. I have already told you on another thread what you need to do to arrange buying advertising space on VGR. This is a repeat of those instructions now translated.

All the information you need with regard to contacting the site for advertising purposes can be found under the Contact Us page linked at the bottom of the main site Here is a link to that page again.

    https://www.vgr.com/contact/

Please stop enquiring about this using the public forum. This thread will now be locked and any further threads you post on this will be removed.

In answer to your question about the link you tried to embed, this forum doesn't work with BB code that way, that is why the link didn't show. However, we would have removed the link anyway as you promotion of your website has not been approved.

  8. I don't want to offend anyone, but in this thread a provocative, but straitforward question has been asked that intend to answer honestly. If you reading this are religious and sensitive about it, consider yourself warned.

To me, it's very simple. Religion is for people who want to relinquish responsibility for how they behave, what they say and even how they think and feel to something else. A priest's congregation and community are often referred to as a flock for a very good reason. They are mindless, impressionable loosers who don't even want to develop a moral compass of thier own.

And those are the few people doing it right, most religious people are complete hypocrites on top of that. Happy to feel good about themselves feel accredited when thier faith brings about anything positive, but would immediately blame the same faith for thier prejudices and mistakes.

I'm not saying that the religions themselves are are evil or a manipulative entity. On the contrary, some archeic principles and moral stances aside, most religious scripture I've read is trying to guide people towards a positive attitude and good actions in life. It's people that are the evil, manipulative element in religion.

    EDIT:

With the question answered, I'm locking this as there really is no need to discuss this on the public forum.

No kidding Sony, thank you. Assuming it is true, and it had better be.

One of my favourite games on the PS4 with the original being one of, if not the best game on the PS Vita. Unique mechanics, unique style and presentation and surprisingly strong and entertaining story. I absolutely love this franchise.

So suffice to say, I'm very up for this remaster and this movie, especially since I had resigned to the unfortunate fate that this franchise was dead and actually thought Sony had lost all care for this IP. They dropped support for Gravity Rush 2's online component after only a year and there has been no buzz on the IP since, until now. OK, so it's not a brand new Gravity Rush game, but I'll take this.

Listen PC and PS5 players, buy this game. We're getting a second chance to show a criminally underrated game some much deserved love.

I used to love Ubisoft as well until in recent years when they've started to make all kinds of idiotic decisions and consistently trying to drive away us gamers.

It's a true showing of just how sad the gaming industry is that I can swap out the word "Ubisoft" with just about any major player in the games industry and that statement would still make sense. I could even add a section on sexual harassment and employee abuse and it would still work.

From what I heard of early Skull and Bones beta reviews, the game is a massive disappointment. I know that @Shagger was also looking forward to this game. Doesn't surprise me as Ubisoft has been doing everything in their power to drive away the players.

I was looking forward to this years ago. I absolutely loved AC4: Black Flag and the idea of that game's fantastic ship battle mechanic being expanded into it's own game was very exiting. However, after a decade of development hell that saw the game pushed back, re-done and cancelled several times, all the excitement I had has long since evaporated.

Something went badly wrong behind the scenes with Skull and Bones. I don't know the cause, but I do know the effect. This game had no hope. The only reason I feel Ubisoft even bothered to release the game was to claw back at least of of the money spent on it.

  13. Look @svjiminfxv, not only have we had sevral threads on this topic already, you yourself posted a thread with literally this exact title only a couple of months ago. I'd be OK with a thread being posted that's about the same topic as an exsisting thread if the other thread is really old and not been posted to in a long time, but were taling about a repeat of a thread you posted that's weeks old. Please use the search fuction to check for exsisting threads, especially if the topic is a common subject like this.

  14. I'm going to lock this topic, but before I do I want to make it clear to @Heatman that you have done nothing wrong. I'm locking the thread because having this thread here open to new replies is an invite for some very bad traffic. Spammers and scammers will be lead to this like shifty lawyers chasing ambulances leaving an industrial accident. Putting it simply, having this thread open is an invite for trouble.

Besides, there is only one right way to approach this idea, and that is don't do it all.

Whether you're buying or selling, don't do it. As a buyer, it's too easy to get scammed by having your newly purchased account just locked off from you by the seller thanks to things like two step notification. As a seller (doing this honestly), it could expose very sensitive information about yourself to people who shouldn't be trusted with anything. For example, you would have to surrender control of the email account you used to set up the gaming account. And then there's the point that every gaming account service would count such a transaction as a violation of thier TOS, making it very likely that the account being sold will banned before long, landing the victem of the scam, becasue it is a scam, into potentially a lot of trouble.

I'm trying to be kind @Heatman, but meerly bringing this topic up without the caveat of "This is a terrible idea, don't do it" is very concerning. So given how you don't seem to undertand just how bad and dangerous an idea this is, I must tell you to not discuss this again.

And if it wasn't clear to everyone else, don't buy or sell gaming accounts under any circomstances. Thread locked.

  15. I ended up sending Valentine's Day in hospital.

Was admitted late Sunday night/ early Monday morning with some frightening pains in my chest and left shoulder. After the tests, it turned out to be a chest infection causing pneumonia. It was the inflamed tissues of my lung rubbing against my scest cavity that was causing the pain. A blessing in desguise really as it help the doctors catch the pneumonia very early. So yes, I've had better weeks, but I'm being discharged today. A few more days of medication and things should be back to normal.

The point is that deleting all data should not only reset the trial tickets, but also the purchased officers, so I wouldn't have to be stuck with the ones I got earlier.

If they designed it like that, what would stop people from uninstalling and reinstalling the game over and over to play as all the characters without buying the full game? Clearly, it doesn't work like that. I can't be bothered to argue with you, I'm just trying to help you realize there isn't anything you can do.

  17. 39 minutes ago, Heatman said:

There are so many things that can make a gamer to be angered by the video game he or she is playing. One of the biggest of them all is frustration from the game. If you have played any Soul's games, you're going to understand exactly what I mean. Dark Souls franchise like Bloodborune, Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Ghost of Tsushima and Serkio : Shadow Die Twice will do that to you.

Since when was Ghost of Tsushima a soulslike?

  18. I genuinely believe in a phycological tic with these steaming services whare you simply don't value the content they offer as much as stuff you have bought.

It's good to realize that you don't technically "own" any of the content in these services, but it sets one up perfectly for a trap. A trap that you're ready to relinquish basic buyers rights simply because it's digital, and we all have to stand up and say, "No. I bought this, I own it".

A recent topic from @Kane99 discussing how Spec Ops: The Line had been removed from digital storefronts indirectly illustrates the problem. When a game, movie or TV series gets removed from these services is one thing, but what if for some stupid reason it gets removed completely from digital sale?

Physical media isn't the solution. As mush as I support physical media the fact is it degrades, breaks and increaces in rarity over time.

That's what great about digital support. It's reliable and accessable. Steam and other digital storefonts can pleage support for delisted games all the want, but why believe a company that might not exist for all of our lifetimes? What if Steam suddenly ended?

And that's assuming the games even work with Steam active. Steam literaly sells games right now that literally don't work out the gate, not without workarounds and modifications. That's happend to me several times, I buy a game, that's been on steam for years, and it literally doesn't work.

But back to the point. That phycolgial tic is the bait for the hook. However, if somebody is irresponsible enough to buy into these services without making use of them, at least some the blame must land on themselfs. Whilst there is no doubt that these companies will happily exploit the ever increasing confusion of the sheer number and complexities of this nevstreaming world. People have to take responsibility for this shit on thier own.

However, none of that means you should indulge in every game, movie, TV show, musical piece or whatever just because you can and you paid for it. I doubt, for example, anyone plays enough games to exploit Gamepass to the point where they play literally everything the service has to offer, but if one gets what they value out of it, go nuts! If you don't, cancel it. Just make a contoius effort to pay for only what you want.
