Depth of field

Depth of field is mostly used in video games for the same purpose it's used in movies which is making both to be more realistic.

The only downside to DOF is that it basically causes blur to objects that are not in focus.

Off always, unless in certain games where other important visual effects are tied to it (like Chivalry). Its just terrible, i like my games sharp and like i can see in real life. Also most games over do it, or do it totally wrong. And in mp shooters and the like it seriously effects your ability to see/aim at distance.

What depth of field settings do you prefer?

In most cases, a lot of gamers prefer to have their DOF turned off because it interferes with the gameplay.

Exactly - it's actually something that most gamers do when it comes to their gameplay. If their gameplay needs the DOF to work well with gameplay, it definitely stays on.
