StaceyPowers Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 I’m playing The Outer Worlds, and I feel like the contrast is too high, but there is no way to do anything about it. What are some games you have played where you feel the contrast is too high or low?
The Blackangel Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 I can't think of any specific titles off the top of my head at the moment, but a lot of the old stuff had this problem. Games from the Atari 2600, NES, and SNES are the main culprits. They started fixing it around the N64 era, but before then the contrast was a bitch.
Empire Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 I usually don't mess with it, not because I can't be arsed but because it's usually already 'correct'. Sometimes I still have to turn it up a bit though because the designer's idea of dark area sometimes end up being pitch black, I need to at least see something dammit.

Heatman Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 It's something that's more peculiar to games as far back as 1986 to 1995. I think Contra 1987 had the same issue if I remembered correctly.
Head_Hunter Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 Since their is option to adjust the brightness or contrast, their is no big deal we can simply adjust it to the way it's suiting to our view.

Evil Within and Silent Hill are two good examples. Yes, I've noticed that from different set of horror games especially when I played 'silent hill, during my early childhood. The background contrast is low.
Head_Hunter Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Most horror games are simply dark in contrast. I never played much of them, but the ones which I've played especially 'Alpha Polaris, a horror adventure game.
