skyfire Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 I think over the years Acer improved a lot. In past Acer was like HP, full of glossy stuff but not at all good machines. Toshiba used to be good in past. but they too have not been keeping up with time.
ARx182 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 I have an ARx182 PC! 😄 Jokes aside, I built my PC myself. It's much cheaper and gives you a greater sense of control, atleast in my opinion.
skyfire Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 That is true, building your own is definitely always a good option especially if you are into gaming for years.
THawk Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 I'm using a CyberPower PC and it works good for me.

Zak Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 I considered building my own but in the end opted for a HP Omen out-the-box machine. Just added an extra 16gb ram to the standard machine. I don't think there is much of an advantage in building your own.

Also the warranties on pre-made machines is absolutely ridiculous and if you want to upgrade/fix your machine, it'll cost you a lot more than doing it yourself.
skyfire Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I think advantage lies in ability to upgrade the graphics and RAM and storage as well. Which is something many brands restrict you to purposefully because they want to milk in on the current high prices of the RAM and graphics etc.

skyfire Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Another thing I noticed they purposefully give you low storage so that they can get your business after the sales for upgrade on storage. like who sells 250GB for Windows machine these days when 50 GB update happens for windows per year as is...
Zak Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 When buying 'out the box' issues such as upgrades etc are obviously considered. With my machine there is no issue with upgrades. First thing I did was stick more RAM in. Also, on the subject of warranty, if something goes wrong I can send the box back for repair/replacement. I don't need a degree in computer science to diagnose and identify the specific component which is at fault.
skyfire Posted November 21, 2020 Posted November 21, 2020 I mostly prefer to upgrade the RAM as early as possible because later it does not feel like upgrading much. So considering black friday and other holidays around, better to buy cheap upgrades.
Patrik Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 I got an Acer laptop and a custom Dell optiplex for gaming
skyfire Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Acers Predator series is also good for gaming. Though they lack the 17 inch series as they are more invested into the 15 inch. I think I'd definitely go for the 17 inch for gaming from now on.
Syntax Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Currently just use a Lenovo desktop computer and a Dell laptop
