Kane99 got a reaction from Smokey in Is having a platinum trophy important to you?
I wouldn't say it is. Just like I wouldn't' say Xbox Achievements are that important. Back in the day when they first started it, sure I was interested in getting all those achievements/trophies etc. But I don't think it's necessarily ever was important to me. I just like racking up a big score for all the games I played. :D

Can I has???  lol just kidding. I always wanted to get a PSvita and a PSP growing up. I still wouldn't mind getting a vita as you can probably do a lot of stuff on them. But yeah, that's awesome you found them. They're all in good shape and no damage?

There is a lot of talented people who have started out making fan games. It's why I wish Nintendo should hire all of these devs who made their own fan games based on their characters. I hope fan made games are still a thing into the future, because it can be a fun way of finding new talent.

Exactly, which is why I don't get when Nintendo and some others decide to squash the work they put in. I get if they were to profit from the games, sure. But most of these were free and available to people to mess around with. I bet they would have been fine if they didn't use any of their characters likenesses. Maybe then Nintendo would be lax about it.
I think their excuse is that they don't want anything to take eyes off of their games, so they ban these fan made projects because they feel it could undercut their profits or something. But I doubt that it'd even be much at all. Because they're Nintendo and people will never stop buying their games.

I mostly played the first one, don't recall if I ever played the sequels. I remember playing the first one with my brother, sister and friends quite a bit, but I wasn't very good at them. Then again I'm not very good at most beat'm'ups like that.

Kane99 got a reaction from Smokey in Was Sonic Adventure the best Sonic game?
Best 3D sonic game maybe, but I think the original 3 games are the best of the bunch. Once Sonic hit 3D, is when the series started to take a nosedive. I know people love Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, but the games to follow didn't do so hot. Especially when you get to Sonic 06 and some of the other games.
But yeah, I'd say best 3D sonic game.

Kane99 got a reaction from Smokey in Xbox shouldn't have cancelled the backwards compatibility program.....
Yeah I enjoyed the destructiveness of the game. Surprising ahead of its time imo. But that boss battle I stopped at made me mad haha. I'm pretty sure I still have a save file, but it's that boss battle and idk I if I can put myself through that again lol.
Same here. I haven't played Sekiro, but it did remind me of the rooftop moments of Tenchu. I remember playing the original Tenchu on PS1 back in the day, and having a blast jumping onto roofs and jumping on enemies. But I always sucked at these games lol.

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in Achievement hunting
Yeah the novelty of it started to ware off for me. Back when the 360 came out, there was a few games with some easy achievements. I remember a NBA 2k6 or something that dropped that gave you an easy 1000G just from playing one game. Each achievement was huge too, like 100 for some, 200 for others and I think a big one for like 500G. Then games started to add tons more small achievements.
I used to grab as many as I could when I played, but these days you have to do so much for some achievements, that I sometimes just pass on some of them lol. Also, some games you can't even get 100% since some were online only achievements. I remember achievements hunters throwing fits about that. :D

Kane99 got a reaction from Shortie in Original hardware? Modded hardware? emulation?
That's fair. Getting into retro gaming is very hard to do these days. From having to find the consoles, the games, and possibly a tv to play them on (HDTVs are fine, but CRT TVs are better). As well, you have to worry about the prices, as retro games are going up in prices, especially NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. Mostly retro games.
Emulation is a great way to play the games you never got to. I had a raspberry pi with an emulator on it, but it recently died on me. One of these days I'll buy a new raspberry pi and make another emulation station.

I don't see a handheld being announced, but with the way the market is going and how more companies are getting into handheld hardware, it's always a possibility Xbox and others may jump into the handheld market too. I've said it before, the popularity of the Switch and the Steam Deck has to be giving Sony and Microsoft ideas about the possibility.
I don't know if Sony would try their hands at making a new handheld, but maybe Microsoft.
I think if it were to happen, it'd be another generation off, maybe after this generation of consoles.

Kane99 got a reaction from DC in Is shipping unfinished games the future of gaming? 😥
With the recent release of The Callisto Protocol being marred by poor performance and other issues, it made me wonder about all the other games that have been coming out broken messes. If feels like we get more and more broken games at release and at this point it feels never-ending. It's like games like God of War come out pristine with minimal issues, but then you get games that are released in clearly unfinished states, and it seems to be happening more and more these days.
What can we do as gamers to stop this? I am all for studios taking as much time as they need to make a game. But I don't want devs to rush a game, release it and then say "oh we'll get these problems fixed and to a point where we want it". But it should never get to that point. Studios should be striving to make their games as playable and unbroken as possible.
It's tiring to hear that yet another game has arrived to mixed reviews because of the poor quality of game at release.
I know voicing our opinions has done nothing at this point, people are clearly fed up, and studios keep doing it.
Do you think this will ever change? Or will we be stuck in this new routine?

Yeah I was hoping for a lot of games to make the cut, but licensing was a big hurdle that some just didn't want to deal with. I wish they'd finally make a new Tenchu. I remember enjoying Tenchu Z a bit, but wanted them to continue the franchise. I guess the recent Sekiro was conceived originally as a new Tenchu, so in a way it's still around. :)
I remember Stranglehold, got near the end, but couldn't beat one of the bosses so quit lol.

Idk I can't do touch controls for fps games. Just not my thing I guess. I tried both cod mobile and pubg mobile, and I couldn't get into it. I tried too. Both games worked fine on my old phone, which I was surprised by.

There are some games where I know I will have to restart. I recently did this with the Guardians of the Galaxy game, and got maybe a few hours into the game and then quit. I enjoyed what I played, but I just wasn't that into it after a while. But, if I ever decide to jump back in, I'm going to have to replay it.

Kane99 got a reaction from Smokey in Retro videogame magazines hard to find these days?
Don't you miss those days where they'd toss in a demo disc? I loved it. I had a subscription to PSM, which was a third party playstation mag. Sadly those did not come with demo discs like the actual PlayStation magazine did.
I usually got gaming mags from my local grocery store. They used to sell older mags in bundles for a cheaper price, and I would buy those up. They did the same for comics, but a couple of the comics they literally remove the cover. So you'd get like 3 comics and one or two of them don't have the cover and back.  But I built a small comic collection back then that way.

Eh probably not. Was never a big fan of the warzone side of COD. Always felt anxiety trying to play those battle royale games. I'd rather play the standard multiplayer modes in COD games if I do play. idk, I can play games like Fortnite, but Warzone, isn't for me.
Plus, the people who play warzone take it way too seriously.

You're better off connecting it via ethernet anyway. Wifi is notoriously bad when it comes to gaming online. I have to have a wired connection with all of my consoles and even with my gaming PC. I don't want to end up dropping my connection mid match after all. :D
I'm sure there are some modders who figured out a way to make a wifi device for it. Kinda like how they made an HDMI mod for the OG xbox.

That's a good question. For me, I think I'd want more PC releases added on gamepass. I get Gamepass ultimate whenever I do subscribe, and I've been trying to find more games for PC.
I'd like to see that new Sonic Frontiers or whatever it's called added to gamepass, mainly because I do want to play it, but don't want to spend any money on it. Aside from gamepass of course. Other than that, The Callisto Protocol (I hear it's tough), and that Ready or Not game, though I don't think it's out on Xbox gamepass, just PC right now. Other than that, I think Stray would be cool, but I don't think it's coming out for Xbox.
It's hard to say too, because so many games are releasing on gamepass now. Exclusives already release day one, so that's awesome in itself. But even some third party devs are releasing through gamepass day one, and I really love that.

With the popularity of the Steam Deck and the Switch, the idea may not be far from reality. Companies change their minds all the time. I didn't expect Sony to originally make a VR headset for the PS4, but they did. And the same goes for their original handhelds, I didn't expect them to do that either.
I hear they have no plans, but plans change. Microsoft has said they have no plans either, but they're Microsoft, and if there's money to be made, they'll jump at it.

A bit of a late reply on my part, but here we are. :)
RDR1 starts off in 1911, where we see John disembarking a train. The back of the case also mentions it's 1911 and the west is dying. The date has kinda been ingrained in my head since I played the hell out of it. :D
RDR1 has some beautiful looking graphics, yeah they aren't nearly as good as RDR2's graphics, but they still hold up quite well today imo. I just remember playing the game for the first time, on an HDTV and thinking how beautiful it was. But yeah, RDR2 is way more stunning graphically.
Retro games age better I think. Most of them look great today.
Haha I remember Ghosts. I remember when they were going crazy about this game, and then it turned out to be one of the worst in the series. I always figured they'd do a sequel like with their other games, but maybe it was best to go back to Modern Warfare instead.

Just one game the whole time? Or are we allowed to play any games in our personal time? :D
But seriously, I don't think I could stick to one game forever if that's the case. I prefer a mix of games. But if it's in terms of playing in Esports. Maybe. I played a lot of COD back in the day, so maybe I could see myself playing COD for a living if I ever jumped back into it.
Also, if it paid really good money and I was able to win a lot, I'd do it.

Don't own an original Xbox, but I will certainly keep this in mind if I ever pick one up. I know there is a bit scene online of people bringing old consoles and games back online. And I love that. Helps give a fresh bit of life to these old consoles and games.

Yeah I can see most PS3/PS4 games being fine. These days we have tech that can do wonders, so I can see that being a reality. I hope they utilize the same control scheme of the PS4/5 controllers.
Streaming is a must, as that is our inevitable future when it comes to gaming and pretty much everything else.

I don't think a new PS handheld has to meet the same specs of a PS5. That's kinda tough to do. But i think as long as they make quality games, that's all that matters. I don't think you can get the same specs as a PS5 in such a small form factor either. I'm sure the steam deck had to cut some corners to make it work for them.
I think if they can match what the switch and steam deck can do. It'll work out much better.

Tenchu series for sure. I think the last game in the series dropped in 2007 on the 360. Or from what I remember.
I second syphon filter, mainly because I played the hell out of the first two games demos. Lol.
Other than that, I'd like to see a new Einhander game. I really liked that game back in the day, but I think it was the only game in the series.
