  1. In a situation like this, if its a real time battle (and particularly if its fast paced), I tend to sort of panic (but not in a bad way) and build up adrenaline; it feels like I start having less tangible thoughts, acting more instinctively or reflexively, and it feels like my reflexes get faster too. That last part could just be my imagination, though. My heart starts racing and I get very nervous but also excited so its harder for me to really assess WHAT I'm doing.
  2. People have been making jokes about this forever. Like how you could just kill something and a chest full of gold would magically pop up in its place. Or like, being able to keep and have access to a million different things at all times by just putting them in your "inventory."
  3. GOD NO, I hate commentaries! Shut up I just wanna see and hear the damn game!! ...But I can understand why people would like them 😄
  4. I think its obviously kind of subjective. There's a whole spectrum of "degrees of enjoyment of/time invested into video games." But in general, I think that's really what it mostly boils down to: The higher your level of enjoyment, and the more amount of time you choose to invest in video games, the more hardcore you are. The less your level of enjoyment and amount of time you invest, the more casual you are (This is all assuming you're doing it for fun and not for some kind of job like being a video game tester).
  5. LOL I don't hate you. Consider yourself extremely fortunate for having a PS2 that worked for so long (and STILL works O_O).
  6. I swear PS2s are the most unreliable console on the planet. We've had to buy that damn thing more times than I can count because they stopped working. I think people should stop buying original PS2 games and just stick to either buying ports/digital copies on PSN, or emulation at this point.
  7. lol I just want to play that one game. Its the only game I ever really played for Virtual Boy, but I liked it a lot. I would expect fans of Mario/Wario games would agree that it was a good game.
  8. This. I never worry about old games being unavailable to me. Emulation is usually my first choice. And when occasionally there are big technical problems with compatibility/plugins/whatever, my experience has been that you can usually buy old games on SOME console (and I basically always have most of the newest ones) no matter how old they are. I think if there's some game you want to play, there's almost always some method. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that I've wanted to play but haven't been able to: Wario Land 3D. Last time I checked, the Virtual Boy emulator still sucks and can't emulate the game with sound, and you can't buy it anywhere I know of (probably due to the uniqueness of the software used to run that game, or something like that.)
  9. Ahh... I played Terraria for quite a long time on the 360 in the past. I would assume the Steam version comes with the same or similar kind of tutorial at the beginning. Basically your ultimate objective is to find and kill the unspeakable horror at the bottom of the world. Aside from that, there's no real objectives in the game. Its what's called a sandbox game, like Minecraft (which I've never played by the way). You go around and kill things and gather materials via cutting trees and digging. lots and lots and lots of digging. You can literally dig up anything and everything, and use it to build stuff. You can build buildings and furniture and a bazillion kinds of things. You can build a furnace and an anvil, smelt ore, and make all kinds of swords and armor and stuff. You go around and find chests with various accessories and equipment in them that give you abilities like being able to climb, double jump, glide and other such things. You can't really "beat" the game. But you can explore a randomly generated world, get stronger by finding and making things, try to kill all the bosses, and get creative coming up with different kinds of things to build.
  10. Only thing I can think of is the person is mentally ill. I feel bad. If someone was infecting -my- life with their presence like this, I think I'd go mad.
  11. This is kind of what I was thinking. It can be incredibly annoying when you're doing something really difficult (that involves dying and retrying over and over again) and you have to repeatedly watch a really long cutscene or two every time you die.
  12. When I first came here and introduced myself, I mentioned that I was coming from another forum that I had a lot of problems with people on. I haven't had any problems with people at all here. Whether that's because there just aren't that many, the forum is much smaller, or people are just by some act of god more mature here, I don't know. I still visit that other forum. Not nearly as much, but sometimes I forget how vicious people can be, when a lot of times all I try to do is open up ideas for discussion about how to make a game better. It really gets to me sometimes. Most of the time I put a lot of thought into a thread before I start it. And so often, people just come back with all kinds of snarky jokes, insults, or say stupid shit like, "if you don't like "X" then don't play the game." Or someone replies with a meme. My god do I hate that. Its really got me wondering, because I'm in my mid 30s now, and I remember things being much, MUCH nicer when I was a lot younger. Then again, I could just be really out of touch with reality due to a huge decline in my interaction with humans over the last 10 years, both online and in real life. Maybe people are basically the same way they always were, and I'm just not used to dealing with it?
  13. Ok, this is gonna sound crazy but I hate the taste of water (unless I've been exercising or something). So yeah, I'd definitely dump everything from the oven. The idea of having no more delicious drinks makes me cry.
  14. If any kind of thing has me in a bad mood or a state of anxiety, there's a few things I like to do. I might go for a walk, and/or try to meditate (I really suck at this). Watching a movie often makes me feel better, if I have the time. Also, I really try NOT to do this, but admittedly, sometimes if I'm really upset, I like to get drunk.
  15. Uh, yeah! I love Contra! I played the shit outta Contra, Super C, and Contra III growing up (and sporadically throughout my life). For me, playing Contra is one of the best things to do with friends. It never gets old. For all you other big Contra fans out there, if you feel like you've been missing the old school Contra experience, there's a retro SNES (or maybe Genesis?) style game called Blazing Chrome that is really cool and fun! Its basically Contra but vs Machines instead of Aliens. I suggest checking it out.
  16. oh my gawd!! This Scorn game looks like a visual novel created by H.R. Giger. Although to be frank it doesn't really look like my kind of game, I am kind of interested in what its actually about. It looks extremely fucked up.
  17. No. I don't even read reviews for games unless I've already played them. The way I like to expose myself to a game is to just go to youtube and watch someone playing the intro and beginning of the game, and/or watch some random gameplay footage to get an idea of what its like.
  18. I don't think its possible (for me anyways), because life doesn't let you do things like save it, reset, do things over in different ways and whatnot. And it would cause a lot of problems ethically and existentially, because I love taking on different roles in video games (sometimes the roles of very wicked people/beings).
  19. Just one? Geez.... I dunno. I can tell you that I would kill for all the old mario games to get the Super Mario All Stars treatment -again- with all new updated graphics and music again! I gotta tell you I was SO disappointed when Mario 3d All Stars turned out to just be just a port of those 3 games... I was super excited because I was expecting to be able to play Mario 64 with the graphical quality of Mario Odyssey or something. Talk about a big let down.... So yeah, if I could have an actual remake of Mario 64, that'd be epic.
  20. Wow I had no idea this was even a problem. Only game I can think of that was ever like this was Bloodstained ROTN. I must not be playing enough new games lately.
  21. When I play a game I've never played for the first time, I always play through on normal mode first. Then, assuming I like the game enough, I may utilize harder difficulty setting if I suspect or hope they contain additional content to be found, like the true final boss and true ending, new unlockable playable characters, story, weapons.... You get the idea. In my whole life I think I only ever deviated from this system once. When I played Ghosts 'n Goblins Ultimate on the PSP for the first time, I picked the hardest difficulty setting. In all of those games, its set up so that if you get hit once, you lose your armor, and if you get hit again (in your underwear), you die. Normal mode in this game made it so that you could get hit multiple times before losing your armor, and that didn't feel right to me, because it was inconsistent with the rest of the series.
