  1. Ho. Ly. Shit. The kid broke Tetris. I didn't even know that was possible. I thought it just went on forever getting faster and faster. Yet he was so damn good at the game that he was able to last longer than it and beat the game. There are very few games that could possibly be considered endless. Tetris being one. The kid deserves some kind of medal from a gaming commission or eSports or something for an achievement like this. And the cunt that was talking shit should be tarred and feathered, then tied to the back of a truck and drug down a path that is lined with video game carts. Hopefully she gets a few stuck up her ass before the ride is over. That or whacked in the head with an N64 until it's beaten in to her head that gaming has a lot more to offer than she wants to admit. A lot of people have careers in gaming. Actors, developers, and players just to name a few. It's all there. And it's not going anywhere but forward. If we were to see another gaming crash like we did back in '83, a hell of a lot of areas in the economy would collapse, and there would be a worldwide depression like in 1929. The stock market would tank like never before seen. Lets see how much she would enjoy that.
  2. It's possible, but for the most part, kids today wouldn't have a clue what the games came from. If any of you can tell me what a game called Alf, 21 Jumpstreet, or She-Ra got its roots from, WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP ONLINE, I would love to hear it.
  3. The earliest game I can remember Rockstar making was DKC on the SNES. But since then, the GTA and RDR franchises have been so wildly successful that they focus on them because those are their cash cows. I mean just look around this forum and see how much talk there has been about a possible GTA6. There has been less talk of a possible RDR3, but it has been brought up. When someone sees success with something they tend to ride that horse for as long as they can. Considering how I see Rockstar as being one of the best studios and they make the best games, I would LOVE to see them come out with some new and original games. But, RDR and GTA are where the money's at, so that's where they're sticking.
  4. When was Super Mario on Sega? The rivalry between Nintendo and Sega was so fierce that there's no way Nintendo would have leased their mascot game to their rival. Now to answer the thread question, I would have to know what gen and platform they're starting off on. I wouldn't recommend anything that goes too in depth. Meaning I would leave most AAA games out at the time. I would integrate them in slowly with what their interests are and go from there.
  5. The only game I can think of that I do like this is FF8, I play it to the third disc era, and then just go around collecting items, trying to get a full 100 of them all. The fourth disc era is so boring because you're doing nothing but making your way through Ultimecia's castle. That's it. It bores the ever living shit out if me. Also the bosses and Ultimecia herself are so damn easy to beat, it's ridiculous. So I give myself at least one last challenge.
  6. I don't really shop on FB. I get mine from either eBay or Craigslist. But my current library is pretty much complete for what I play. There are other games that I have played in the past that I enjoyed, but I don't own them, and at this current moment have no plans to buy them. However, when I see a gaming bundle on CL, I move quick to buy it, regardless of what all is in it. And I always find a gold nugget in there. So my advice is to just be patient and keep your eyes open.
  7. If there's no storyline, there's no game. It has no point unless it's some kind of puzzle game like Tetris or Myst. If you're playing a game with any kind of characters that you control, there MUST be a story. Can you imagine if Skyrim, RDR2, or even Zelda had no story in it? You were just screwing around doing nothing because there was no aim of any kind? That's a pure waste of time in every way. from every angle if you ask me. Now if you have played a game to the final end, and it doesn't actually give you any kind of quests anymore (RDR2 epilogue for example) then you can play that if it interests you. I have a file that's in the epilogue. I'm just filling my compendium, and doing completely random things. I'm thinking I might record an epilogue video for the YouTube channel @Rain Dew and I have. I just haven't decided yet. There's a lot of things that you can't do until you're in the epilogue, such as finish Herbalist 9. So it's an idea. I might start doing some educational videos about things like astronomy on one of my other channels. As usual I'm rambling and getting off topic. Again. I really need to learn how to shut the hell up. Yes a story is crucial to games except puzzle games like Tetris, Myst, or any other in that genre.
  8. I highly doubt it. Most games (at least that I come across) are scripted to run on a computer and not on a Mac. Games like Diablo and AoE can't run on a Mac. I know AoE was made by Microsoft, so that one may be a moot point. But that aside, there aren't many games compatible with the system because virtually no one uses a Mac. People prefer computers. Computers are compatible with pretty much everything. So I would bet my car that Mac is going to stay in the mobile phone market for the most part.
  9. On new years eve I go to bed early. The fireworks always make me have flashbacks and I end up crawling across the floor on my belly with a gun in my hand. I don't need that shit, and @Rain Dew DEFINITELY doesn't need it. So on New Years's I head to bed around 6:00 or 7:00 to try to make sure I'm out before people start setting off explosions. It's why the 4th of July is the worst time of year for me. I don't need shit making me going back to that time.
  10. You do realize that you still use a Game Cube controller on the Wii to play Game Cube games, right?
  11. What is everyone's stance on how to handle this? There are tons of examples. Like people in Florida getting a Burmese python as a pet and then releasing it in the Everglades when it gets too big for them. Or in the 1940's when the Countess of Arran released wallabies on Inchconnachan Island in Loch Lomond in Scotland. Those are only two examples. There's tons more. In my opinion, people need to take their heads out of their asses and think of what they're doing to the environment. Especially BEFORE they get the animal. The animals native to their location should be the priority. The only reason people should see a wallaby in Scotland is because they're at the damn zoo. And in many cases, these animals are completely out of manageable control and taking over. The pythons in Florida are so high in numbers that, at the moment, there's no plausible way to eliminate them. They're feeding on the alligator population and potentially going to kill them all because there are so many that are feeding all the time. We have lost that war. @Shagger and @Crazycrab are the ones I want to hear from about the wallabies. Especially because I'm pretty sure that wallabies aren't built to handle the kind of winters you get, being so far north. But what does everyone else think about this kind of situation? Is there anything we can do to get it all under control and/or fix the situation?
  12. Yes, but in this case, people are panicking over something that simply isn't happening. No one is going to buy a loose copy of SMB3 for $100. That's idiotic. Nowadays you would be EXTREMELY lucky if you got $10 for it. And it was the most popular NES title ever. Collectors like being discussed here are the ones who want graded, perfect copies. The kind that you keep sealed, never open, and damn sure never play. Thus, they go to special auctions to buy them. Gamers like us however; we buy the game to play it, not to use it for our retirement. The panic has no basis in reality.
  13. I would say SMB and Zelda. SMB was such a groundbreaking game, that it actually saved gaming from the crash of 1983. Since then, it has released hundreds of Mario titles and is probably the biggest gaming franchise in the world. With Zelda, it introduced us to fantasy gaming. A hero with a sword going through dungeons to collect pieces of a legendary and magic object in order to save a princess. That's the kind of thing you read about in story books, not control and lead. As a result, it has released dozens of games, with no one alive being able to understand that goddamn Zelda timeline. Fuck you Shigeru Miyamoto. Since those two games hit the market, gaming directions have gone wild. Other games In the NES library led to things that otherwise would never have been thought of. The games we have now all owe their existence to an earlier game somewhere.
  14. The game you're referring to that went for millions was a copy of SMB that was still sealed in the box and in perfect condition. It didn't have Duck Hunt with it. It was only SMB. It was an anomaly and will most likely never happen again. As for rising prices, they're not going up much. A NES game that was $20 could at most now cost $25. There's barely any rise in the prices of classic games. It may seem that way looking around if you have a number in your head, but there's no real inflation. Also you may have been seeing games that are CIB without realizing it. Either way, Contra was $30 then, and it's $30 now. Give or take a couple bucks that is. So I wouldn't worry. The prices aren't going much of anywhere.
  15. If plastic tubs with lids count, then yes. I keep mine protected. Until I decide I want to play >insert game< I keep them sealed in the tub. I do that with all my games. I only have a couple next to my PS5, but that's because I play them all the damn time.
  16. After replying to this thread @Kane99 made, it got me thinking. Remembering when I was a part of that crew was always fun. I would like to get back into it, but I don't know what engine would be the best. I have seen that GoDot is a free engine, but don't know if it's worth trying out. Others here will know a hell of a lot more about this than I will. So I'm just wondering, what would be the best one. Or should I just stick with Mario Maker 2?
  17. I used to be part of a crew that made up games. They called me a "thinker" because (according to them) my imagination had no limits and I could come up with the wildest shit. I also helped with design when I had an image in my head. I'm such a horrible artist that I fuck up a stick figure, but I can sure as hell guide a good artist to draw out what I have in my mind's eye. But ever since covid, the crew has mainly shut down. I contacted one of the guys that was on the coding team, and he said he doubted we would get back to making games. But if that changes, they would definitely let me know. So yeah, I've had a hand in creating video games.
  18. I remember doing that. Especially for games that had 30 character save codes to start back up from where you left off. That shit was insane. Legacy Of The Wizard was one of the worst offenders about that. I quickly ran out of space in the manual, so I had to start using notebook paper. The thing about that particular game is that you have to find 4 crowns to wake up a sleeping dragon so you can kill it. I've been playing it for over 35 years AND STILL ONLY FOUND ONE FUCKING CROWN.
  19. This kind of shit is starting to seem par for the course these days.
  20. Constructive criticism is always welcome regardless of what the medium is. Novels, paintings, TV shows, video games, the list is endless. I always welcome constructive criticism on my work. As for delays, I welcome those too. I would rather the developer take 100 delays and release a game with as minimal bugs as humanly possible than one on the original schedule that always fucks up at 5 minutes and 32 seconds into the game play. Abuse towards developers is never acceptable or warranted. They are human beings, not gods. They are going to screw up. They are going to miss things. That's why they work in teams. Dev1 may miss something that Dev2 sees and fixes. Then there are things the entire team misses. That's why there are bugs in said game. Because no one, and nothing is perfect. We as gamers should be patient, respectful, and supportive. If we treat them well, they will do good by us in return. Thus, they will release better games. Email them and give them ideas of things you would like to see in a future release in your favorite series. Don't demand it. Offer it as a possible idea in a friendly way. You catch a lot more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.
  21. Roger Clark is right, and as usual, his wit made me laugh. "You ain't getting a job at Home Depot with that face" But when you look at the pictures, there is more than a resemblance. Rockstar literally put his mugshot in the trailer. I mean just look: It's pretty hard to not see that it's the exact same image, and that it actually IS him. In my opinion he should be compensated. But at the same time, everyone with eyes and a brain knows he won't be.
  22. Regardless of news coverage, I don't trust so called "leaks" from any studio. More often than not, it's some disgruntled employee just looking to cause problems for the company they work for. They may be pissed at their boss for one reason or another, or weren't chosen for a team on a game they really wanted to work on. Hence they "leak" info on one thing or another. There may be a time or two that a leak could contain a bit of truth here or there, but I highly doubt it being the norm. So any leak, I take with a grain of salt. I mean how many times have things about GTAVI been "leaked", only to not have been true? All that said, I have moved this topic to Video Games to Gaming News.
  23. The only time I got a console for xmas was the NES. I got it when I was 5 or 6 which would have been in 1987 or 1988. After that, the only time I got anything gaming related as any kind of gift was TMNT 3 for xmas several years later when I was somewhere around 10. The NES was complete in box with every plastic slip, styrofoam, and booklet, yet it was used. It looked brand new, but was bought secondhand. I didn't care. I had the hottest game system in the world. Hottest at that time anyway.
  24. I've never been the biggest on FPS games, but this one looks pretty damn sweet. If I was to ever get a VR headset, this would be one of the first games I would go for. Now that I have this itch, I'll have to pop in Goldeneye 007 and give it real long go. I haven't played it in forever. It's one of the best ever made, and that's not just a personal opinion.
  25. Ten years ago is was all vampires. That was all anyone could think about. Now it's zombies. I predict werewolves will be next. We have a sickening amount of zombie shit on the market already, which includes too damn many games, and a show that was over by season 3. I wish people would take notice of that. We already have too much of it. Do something else. Something original.
