I know it may sound weird, but have you ever been inspired to try new things or experiences because of a video game? Maybe it was a mission that featured a location you'd like to travel to one day, or maybe maybe the game introduced you to certain things like foods, drinks, and even cultures. Maybe a game inspired you to ask questions about the world. Is there any games that have inspired you in such a way?
There has to be people who are inspired to try out new things because of a video game. I'm sure it happens with movies, tv, books, etc. I suppose you could say for me, traveling to certain locations would be something I could one day see myself doing. Like in Hitman for example, with the level in Sapienza. I'd love to visit a place like that one day. I've never been one for traveling, but that game made it look like a place I should see. And I do need to get out of my comfort zone anyway.

Pneumata. It comes out towards the end of the month if I remember correctly. I have it preordered and fully paid for. I love horror games like this, and this one looks awesome!

alphaAI, a new AI robo advisor, is hosting an exciting competition for a chance to win up to $5,000, or a smaller share of a $50,000 prize pool. This robo advisor sets itself apart from others by offering personalized strategy modes (Defense, Cautious, Steady and Surge), and the option to choose whether to take a conservative, moderate, or aggressive approach to risk management. As the market conditions change, the machine learning that alphaAI uses is able to continuously adapt and adjust.
By signing for the alphaAI waitlist, you'll be automatically entered into the contest for the $50,000 prize pool. Referring friends and sharing the contest on social media will increase your ranking. It baffles me sometimes the decisions they make for such a popular developer. They did make a big win though with the Microsoft deal, which granted Ubisoft special access to cloud gaming. I don't know how they managed that privilege, but it's a win for them. Lose some win some I guess.

It's a true showing of just how sad the gaming industry is that I can swap out the word "Ubisoft" with just about any major player in the games industry and that statement would still make sense. I could even add a section on sexual harassment and employee abuse and it would still work.

For a while it looked like Covid was going to shut down the movie theater business, but ever since the restrictions have been lifted more and more people have returned to the cinema. I don't think streaming killed movie theaters, it certainly has killed cable and satellite though. There's still people that probably use cable and satellite, but they're certainly fewer in numbers. I still see plenty of people going to the movie theater on weekends when big box office movies are released.

So far as culture wars go, well, it was long enough coming. This was on the horizon back in 2015, probably earlier. Hollywood will never be diverse because what we consider diverse keeps changing, can't really be predicted and the industry is based on nepotism to start with. Movies are already divided, they are marketed to a demographic and often that demographic falls along those lines. A Hollywood movie begins by saying something like "let's sell something to middle-aged white women" and if anything else pays for it that's just a bonus. Movies are made now first as a  marketable commodity.
There's no real reason to ban movies because Hollywood won't put out a big, popular movie that really goes hard against the government, anyway. Books need to be banned because there's too many independent publishers to control them in the same way. Books are almost always about something that isn't just the narrative story which makes them much more dangerous about a superhero movie with the depth of a saucer of milk. There's nothing wrong with liking those movies, but they're not deep. There's nothing wrong with liking ice cream, it's just not healthy.
I wouldn't call any society "normal" but you do make a good point that the movies create a shared social experience-- something that societies are built on-- that streaming does not. However, no one is interested in friends anymore. They're all "introverts" and media and companies are their "friends." The rest of us are alone. (Sorry, what episode of black mirror is this?)

Everyone has an accent that they just find sexy as hell. Most women tend to lean towards a British accent. Well I'm sorry girls, but I have to disagree with you there. To me the absolute sexiest accent is a Jamaican accent. Just hearing it gets me weak in the knees. I love the way people from Jamaica speak. And the fact that they have their own "language" so to speak which is just a form of broken English is awesome. I love listening to them just have a conversation.
So what accent turns you on?

killamch89 reacted to Reality vs Adventure in Are you getting a pet any time soon?
I'm thinking about getting some new pets. I want to get a pair of cats, boy and girl, and a puppy. Not sure if I want to adopt adult cats or kittens. I originally wanted to adopt grown cats because I feel like I don't want to get too attached. My reasoning is because the future in my country is uncertain and I'm not sure I want to start a new family for the next 15 years or so when it's a possibility that circumstances may separate us. So I'm thinking of just waiting to see what happens after the elections of 2024. That's really the only thing stopping me right now from getting new pets.

To be fair, I'm one of those people who've stopped playing Fifa years ago because it's more or less the same game from 2016 but refined a bit every year. The worst part is when they try to reintroduce features from previous games as "revolutionary".

killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel in Skincare
I make sure all my makeup is off, then I use moisturizers, and hydrating lotions. I also use a loofah and body wash in the shower instead of bar soap. It cleans my body better and exfoliates the skin, getting all the dirt, dead skin cells, body oil, sweat, and whatever else is on your body off of you. It also makes my skin feel silky and smooth. My only real problem is that I forget to shave a lot and always end up looking like Grizzly Adams.

I was going to say Mario as well. I've never seen a game with so many spinoffs. But since you already gave that one, the only other two I can think of would be Zelda and Sonic. They both have so many oddball entries in their franchise that it can't be said that they don't do any kind of spinoff.

killamch89 got a reaction from The Blackangel in Favorite Nintendo Console of All Time?
Funny enough, I only found this out when I had just sold my WII. In my opinion, I think the WII and WII U were way ahead of their time in terms of what they were trying to implement. It's the execution that was extremely poor by Nintendo.

Yeah - nobody really watches content like they do on YouTube, Twitch and other social media platforms. Most people on social media lack the attention span to watch any video over 5 minutes.

killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel in Which PlayStation console is your favorite based on design?
I always liked the design of the PS2. Maybe it's because I missed the entire PS2 era, but I just liked the design. The PS3 just looks like shit. Like all they cared about at the time was getting a console on the shelves. The PS4 was kinda slick, but nothing special. I do really like the design of the PS5. I think it looks amazing. Not to mention that it has the most comfortable controller in all of gaming. In my opinion at least. With the PS1, it wasn't anything super special. Sony was kinda using it as a test to see how gamers would feel about them entering into the video game market. And holy shit did gamers love it! If you want my honest opinion, since the PS1 was released, the PlayStation fanbase has grown exponentially, and I honestly think there's a highly likely chance that they have surpassed Nintendo. Xbox, while one of the Big 3, isn't really holding its own. Everything that I have read, isn't giving the Series X/S good reviews.
Why do I keep doing this? Why do I always get off topic?

Coordination skills? Definitely but memory, it depends on the types of games you're playing. There have been a few research papers that have pointed to the fact that puzzle games improved working memory in adults.

killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel in Scariest Animal You've Ever Seen In Person
You know, I've never been afraid of animals. I know not to screw with the majority of them. I've had a few encounters that I would rather not have. For example I loved hiking when I was a kid. On one hike, I saw a hellcat, probably about 100 yards away. Most would call them cougar or mountain lion. I always called them hellcats. Luckily I was downwind of it, so it didn't smell me. Another time was the same scenario but a bobcat. Except this one was a HELL of a lot closer. The last experience was a lot more recent, after @Rain Dew and I were together. This is before the chair, and we were out at some rock formations near here. I had to pee so I went around some bushes to go. As I was zipping up, I noticed something. About 4' away from me, all coiled up, was a copperhead. Since it was autumn I didn't see it in all the dead leaves. I think that even though I had just peed, I pissed myself when I saw it. I hadn't hunted them since I was a child. And finding one that close like that was like biting into an apple and finding half a worm.
In captivity, they don't frighten me. Just ask @Rain Dew. When we went on a cruise several years ago, one of the shore excursions was in Belize. We went to a zoo there that we got to play with tapirs and (believe it or not) a jaguar. I'm not even close to kidding. They had a steel cage that was just big enough for 3 people, and had a bench in it, out in the jaguar's enclosure. You just enter the enclosure as if you're looking for something, make your way over to the people cage, lock yourself in, and here he comes. I got kisses, and was able to pet him with a couple fingers through the bard. We had bits of meat with us that we were able to feed him. That's something that would NEVER happen here in the states. So it was an awesome experience.
Also, Capuchin monkeys are extremely entitled, but worth it. I loved playing with them at another stop. I've always wanted one, but @Rain Dew won't let me have one.

One of biggest impact of the existence of social media platforms on gaming is on publicity and awareness of both the games and the gamers as well. With the use of social media platforms, gamers can now stream their games, become popular like celebrities and make millions of dollars in the process.
