I think if you want to get the most out of the graphics then upgrading part of PC is what makes the device worth it. Console can't catch up with that. And desktop is not dying no matter what. It continues to be a strong place for developers and designers to design games.

I mostly play Puzzle, or RPG or even the horror if my mood is there. But mostly puzzle, and art based genre games I play. I am kind of getting old to play the typical shooter games like getting bored easily lately.

Puzzle games if mixed with RPG and also say the platformer they can be pretty much replacing your new genre of games and they can be fun.

For gaming, Linux is yet to mature but as far as the design and code is concerned linux and mac seems to be catching up.

It's currently Window based if I am not wrong, maybe evne for mac. but the games made with it can be taken to the mobile devices.

RAM does not destroy the device while playing though, but yeah for gaming having a good RAM is necessity.

I think eventually Linux outgrows the VM. The use case for Linux is getting so strong as it uses less background resources compared to Windows. So it has a potential to make your system better.
