  1. I can see exactly what she's trying to do. She thinks she can trip democrats up into saying "we don't care about babies" then selling that statement and obviously false narrative to stupid voters. However, I don't think she understands that just because she's "smart" enough to come up with this cunning plan, that other people aren't smarter than that, and thus won't fall for it.
  2. Netflix really missed the mark with this service by offering only mobile games are usually free-to-play anyway. It's not like these mobile games are the, quote on qqote, "good" ones, the standard is the same, so what exactly is the point. Netflix games don't include the microtransactions thier counterparts on the Play Store or Apple Store have, but because the timers, paywalls, grind and pay-to-win elements are so integral in these games, the games on Netflix often have those frustration elements remain without any way buy past them. The right thing to do would have been to re-design these games to work without those elements, but the just remove the payments and left the games as is. There's terrible.
  3. I don't agree, but not because you can't reinvent the origin story. James Bond's origin story was originally established from a series of novels written by Ian Fleming back in the 50's. Ian Fleming died way back in 1964, and given that that aren't even as many 007/ James Bond books as there are movies now, James Bond's origin has been altered here and there a lot during the progresses of the movie series as an inevitability. Even Casino Royal, the first book published and the earliest one chronologically in James Bond's story, has been made into a movie twice. My issue is that the character can't be reinvented and still be James Bond no matter how flawed and archaic the character may be today. Let's face it, James Bond is a prick. An unapologetic misogynist who spends whatever time he has between bedding woman selfishly doing bloody work with little to no regard of the consequences of his actions whilst acting like it not only means nothing to him, but he's having a little too much fun doing it. Yes, more recent portrayals of Bond have seen it him humbled and humanized a little more with stronger, more independent woman at his side, but he's still Bond, so he's still a prick. If he's not a prick, he's not Bond, and that's actually fine with me. Romanticising being a spy with all the exaggeration and leaning into the alfa-male fantasy makes perfect sense. The changes a modern world would want to make to Bond to "modernise" the character would take away everything that makes him 007 in the first place. Regulars on the forum will know I'm not exactly a right-leaning traditionalist, but when it come to Bond I think he people should be allowed to appreciate the charm in the somewhat dated character rather than try to change him. Let's not take him too seriously, he sure as hell doesn't.
  4. Tchia launches today, and it turns out it is NOT a PlayStation exclusive after all. It's only a console exclusive is is also on PC through Stem and EGS.
  5. Sorry to go off topic, especially in a topic like this, but was a typo? Did you mean to say Destiny instead of HZD? Whether one likes the game or not calling HZD a looter shooter just doesn't make sense, especially when the other game in the discussion, Destiny, obviously is a looter shooter. Regardless, couldn't agree more on Lance. He has been taken from us way to soon. I haven't actually watched the John Wick movies ( I don't know why, they just sort of passed me by), but I'm keen to get caught up with them.
  6. I don't get it, if they intend to use the licence in such a vague and loose manner, why even use the licence at all? What not do what Rare did when the lost licence to make 007 games after Goldeneye (On N64) and make a new Ip instead (In Rare's case, that was Perfect Dark). I know it's hard to stand out in the FPS market now and make a successful game with a new IP, for some reason established FPS franchises and licences are far more competitive, but this is just bound to alienate fans of the licence.
  7. The actor, who is probably best known for his roles in the TV series The Wire and in the John Wick film franchise, passed away suddenly Friday morning from natural causes. He was 60 years old. Full story from Sky News. Personally, I will always best know his from his role as the self motivated antagonist from the Horizon franchise, Sylens, and I loved him in that role. He had such a unique presence and authority about him. A truly talented and brilliant performer taken from us way too soon and while at his peek. This is such a shame. RIP, Lance.
  8. Whilst I agree on that with Uncharted, I don't when it comes to The Last of Us. Part II left an extension to Abby and Ellie's story wide open, so there is room, or perhaps even an obligation on Naughty Dog's part, to follow on and finish it. The only thing stopping them is the so-called fans who simply didn't get what the second game tried to do. I reviewed it on this very website and I know as well as anyone that there were problems with how it's story was told, but the game was still good and, at least for me, achieved it's goals in respect to what the player was supposed to feel.
  9. Call me interested, but I need to know more about what's required. The last thing I want to do is offer up advice on health from a place whare I don't what what I'm talking about. That's more than simply stupid, that's potentially dangerous and I don't think that saying anything just to say something for the sake of points should be encouraged with something like this.
  10. The (original) Intellivision was developed by Mattel and built to compete with the Atari 2600 and actually started development the same year as the Atari's release in 1977 to then be released in 1980 after being test marketed in 1979. There would be a revised model in 1983 called the Intellivision 2 with an upgraded CPU and a more compact design that was cheaper to make. Aside the slight technical upgrade, both were pretty much the same. Call it the comparable to the relationship between the PS4 and the PS4 Pro and you get the idea. It's a late 70's/early 80's video game system, so graphics and sound are pretty much what you expect, even though the Intellevision tended to have better graphics than the 2600. This is an image from Advance Dungeons and Dragons, one of the classic games from the system. But enough about the games, this is about the system. First, the controllers. As you can see they had numeric keypads with two buttons on each side and a disc at the bottom that rotates and also serves as a button when you press it in, kind of like how you might push the control stick on a modern game controller. So that's a total of 17 buttons. Compare that to a Dualshock 4, that has 14 buttons plus a D-Pad, and I'd say that seams a little excessive for the kind of games that they had back then. This was the early days of home console gaming, the the ergonomics f the controllers weren't great either when they really needed to be for a more complex controller. As was common in the 80's, the games often came with overlayers for the keypad to help indicate what buttons that game used and what thier functions were. Unlike the Atari 2600, the Intellevision was modular and had a number add-ons including the Intellevoice that, when used with a compatible game, added synthesized human voices to the game's audio, and ambitious thing for the time; And a keyboard component that tuned the Intellevision into a modular home computer. This keyboard component even had it's own 8-bit processor that worked with the hardware on the console, turning it into a dual-processor computer, so that was also pretty cool for the time. So this was a good system for its time, but like so many other systems at the time, the video game crash of 1983 hurt it badly. By the time it was discontinued in 1990, it had sold a bit over 3 millions units, which isn't bad for a system at the time, but doesn't look good compared to system it was meant to compete with, the Atari 2600, that sold around 10 times more. Coming out later than the Atari, having a smaller library of mostly clones of the same games and being around $100 (And that's $100 in 1980, remember.) more expensive meant it was never going to compete.
  11. TLOU multiplayer should just be a part of the game, not a sperate title. That's how it was in the original, so why not?
  12. I don't know, I'm just not sure MK lends itself well to a story about a single protagonist. Yes, they cocked up Sub-Zero Mytnoligies, but even with the gameplay fixed I still don't see this working that well. Since you mentioned the AVGN episode, here it is for everyone.
  13. I had not even heard of this new version of the game. Good thing, by the sounds of it. I don't get it, how hard can it be to polish up a game then re-release it? Why do we get crap this, the GTA Trilogy , Warcraft III: Reforged and Kingdoms Amalur Re-Reckoning? It just doesn't make sense.
  14. It's been a while since I played the game, but I do remember rupees not being that common either. What really matters more that than how common they are is how that balancing out with the economy of the game, and again it's been a while, but I remember the in-game economy being that harsh. Items weren't that expensive and I don't recall anytime whare I was blocked off from doing something because there was an item that I had to buy but couldn't afford.
  15. The problem with racial slurs and other terms that could be considered prejudice is either don't know or don't care that it's not, and is never, up to the individual using the slur to decide whether or not it's OK. Far to many people seem to choose for themselves that it's OK without any consideration of content or how it applies is specific situation. It's called "ignorance" for a reason, because people ignore the specifics of a situation, the history of the words and the perspective of the other party. When it's something between friends that's one thing, that a "permission granted" scenario. And yes, some people might not mind being called that that but when it's used against somebody, at thier expense to degrade and insult them, that's never OK. The default behaviour is "don't use racial slurs" because with most people and in most situations one cannot know well enough to decide whether or not it's OK. It's common sense, really.
  16. As this isn't strictly a gaming topic, I'm moving this thread to general chat. As for the question, there isn't much that I can honestly say. I've only really uploaded to YouTube for practical reasons (living having clips to embed into my game reviews, for example) and never really sought a following. Honestly, I think Youtubers are at the mercy of luck and the algorithm and have very little control over thier own success. I suppose being very active on social media and the aforementioned Discord wouldn't hurt.
  17. Yeah, I certainly won't offer any sympathy over what happened to her, but that doesn't change the fact that she's still alive, so I would obviously still go for the octopus because that is at least edible. Before I explain further, a quick lesson in tastebuds. There are two primary functions for tastebuds. To alert you to incompatible and dangerous materials before they can enter your digestion by having them taste horrid. Offering a pleasurable experience in reaction to nutrient's you body is the most in need off, that's what cravings are. So whilst what this streamer stupidly put herself though was unpleasant, eating a poisonous mushroom would, if anything, be worse. Not only could it kill you, the experience eating would be something I'd wish on nobody. It's not just the taste, that would likely be rancid, but how it would make you feel as your body reacts to it as it attempts to digest it. Poison is prolonged and way more painful than any work of fiction can do justice. Even if you survive, it's unlikely the mushroom would even have any nutritional value anyway, so you'll be putting yourself through it for nothing. Wait, no, worse actually, because your body will have wasted valuable energy and water trying to neutralise said poison, so you'll probably be worse than you were to begin with. The octopus is at least food, it will quell you hunger and has nutrients and protein. So, with all due respect and with I genuine application for the topic @killamch89 (mostly for the video), this is quite a stupid question with an obvious answer.
  18. Yeah, it is interesting that people call the Aya Neo and the others "Steam Deck clones" when they came out first, but these people who have this weird loyalty to Steam tend to be slightly stupid, so it isn't a shock. Still, the Steam Deck itself isn't without merit. The hardware is powerful and it's well priced It is a good option for PC gaming on the go. Whilst the having the name Steam written all over hasn't exactly hurt it's sales, that doesn't mean the people who bought it were misled or were ignorant of thier options.
  19. Cyberpunk 2077 became a cautionary tale to game publishers/developers about not announcing release dates for games to early, or at least it should have. Companies do this simply for sheer greed. So they can rake in those pre-orders as soon as possible, but it's stupid because it means announcing a release to early to predict whether or not that date is even a realistic goal. Cyberpunk 2077 announced thier release date at E3 for maximum exposure 10 months before it was scheduled to come out only to then delay the game on three separate occasions eventually releasing a year and a half after it was announced. And in the end, as we all know, it was still too soon as the game was in a terrible state at launch. I bring this up because Starfield is following what almost looks like a carbon copy of this stupid strategy, except it may be even worse. Bethesda announced Starfiled's release date at E3 or maximum exposure on June 13 2021 to be November 11nth 2022. A year and a half earlier. Then, of course, the inevitable happened, and the game was delayed to the "first half" of 2023 (Kind of vague considering they announced an actual date, another sure sign that they were not confident about making that either.). Starfield is not open to pre-order yet, but people will, and likely already have, bought gamepass subscriptions to play it, so the rule still applies. It's still marketing and it's still an attempt to rake in money before the games launch. And now now, to the surprise of nobody, barley over two months into the "first half" of 2023, they have delayed it... again. This time to September 6th 2023 They didn't even announce it as a delay, just offered up new release date outside of the "first half" of 2023 like we wouldn't notice. This really aggravates me because, whilst no company should do a "Cyperpunk" with thier release strategy by announcing the game's release date super early, if there is one company that REALLY shouldn't do this, it's Bethesda. Thier unfortunate, but earned reputation for broken game launches is well documented, so this studio more than anyone needed to announce the game was in development at most, to then just work on the game quietly and only announce a release date when they were on the final spit and polish. What's extra frustrating about this is that this is that this is exactly what they did with Fallout 4 and that ended up being one of thier better launches, so they know this. Yes, Fallout 4 wasn't perfect at launch, no big open world RPG is, but it was a hell of a lot better than some of thier other launches. A delay is always better than a gaming being released undercooked, any fan with common sense will rather a game be delayed than come out broken. However, that doesn't mean we should put up with it when companies employ this stupid strategy of announcing release dates ridiculously early only to inevitably delay games again and again. We need to call-out companies when they actually make the mistake of announcing games release dates too far in advance and, most importantly, not pre-order when they do.
  20. I have seen the great reviews the game was getting and was surprised to find it really looked more up my alley that I thought it would be. However, I just couldn't bring myself to buy it because I can't handle the thought that any of my money, even just a tiny little bit of it ending up in the vile TERF JK Rowling's pocket. Not to mention I know that arrogant bitch registers the success of anything and everything based on her work as validation for her prejudiced and dangerous points of view. So I pirated it, and plan to donate the money I would have spent on the game to an LGBTQ+ rights campaign charity instead. I know that's something that I shouldn't admit to, especially as the moderator of a forum that comdems piracy and doesn't allow it, but there are times when it can be morally justified. I did that simply as me, not as a reresentive of VGR nor it's staff, members nor principles. Anyway, I am loving it so far. The look and atmosphere of the game is spot on, the indigenous story is immediately interesting and RPG elements are solid. The controls do take a little getting used too, but make sense and what I've seen of the combat is frantic and really fun to do. I'm also very relieved to find the game seems to have not been poisoned by Rowling's toxic social politics with a very diverse cast, character creation options and even includes trans-friendly options in said character creator. So, it's a great start, but we'll see how it goes.
  21. They really should bother trying to port brand new AAA titles to the Switch anymore. I would love to see some old strategy games ported over live Civilization or C&C ported over as think they would play well on a handheld.
  22. This is ridiculous. Nobody just joins a forum asking a forum asking for opinions about some random gamepad, especially from a website called "offersforyou". I don't know who you expected to fool, but that's obviously an affiliate. So I'm locking this topic as there are other topics to discuss controllers already and removing the link from your post. Please do not attempt to post this or any other affiliate links again.
  23. "We designed our map system without a player marker. We think this encourages observation, exploration and make finding your way around the acapellago much more rewarding" No, it's just plain stupid. First off, they're not encouraging players to be more observant so they know whare they are, they're forcing them to. As game dev's they should know the difference. Second, how exactly are players supposed to know whare they are when in an area that the haven't explored before and thus have no landmarks refenced? Yeah, Tchia can use that "guess" mechanic to narrow it down, but it's quite a wide area. And if that map doesn't represent the environment with 100% accuracy (And let's be honest, few maps in video games actually do.), then you're screwed. Map issues aside, this does look cool. I love the way it looks and it it seams to control well. I hope the story holds up and isn't too light-hearted as I feel the game could do with that contrast.
