Do you ever get stressed out from the games you play?

Do you ever get stressed out when gaming? Maybe it's that tough boss fight, or you're dealing with problems the game has. What's the most stressed you been with a game?

I think Layers of fear was what stressed me out the most. Not because of the spooky factor, but the constant problems I had with glitches during early access. I had my share of stress playing many other games, but that one mostly made me mad.

Most of the time I play racing games, and most racing games I play are simply straightforward. You don't get to stress yourself much, just direct your vehicle or Motorcycle and have it move smoothly and get you the position you desire.

My playing of Dark Souls and Bloodborne did that to me on more than one occasion. I even had to take some time off the games due to the frustration.

One of The Evil Within games had one very annoying boss battle with a creature called Laura. You had to lure her near fire to kill her, but she was up your ass all the time as you were having to move these switches in a basement, if I recall. It was annoying as there was a sequence you had to do first. So you dying meant doing it again.

It did my nut in. All in all, though, I loved those games, and it's lame how Tango Gameworks ended earlier this year because of Microsoft. The second game ended with a teaser, but I really don't know if a third game will ever be produced now.

I think stress in games can come from different sources like tough mechanics, story intensity, or, like you said, technical issues. For me, The Last of Us Part II had moments that were emotionally draining and made me anxious, but it was part of what made the experience so impactful. Glitches, though, like in Layers of Fear, feel more unfair since they’re outside your control.

Yes of course it happens from time to time but the good thing is that playing such games isn't mandatory. I can stop whenever I want and rest. I play games in a healthy way.

I think most game needs to generate at least some anxiety and frustration, it's just a sign your invested in what your doing.  There are obvious exceptions such as like Flower that are ment to be relaxing and relieve stress, but in a test of self, a challenge, of course some stress is bound to build up.  Otherwise, it's probably not a very good game.
