I don’t mean the casino mini-games in RDR or such—I mean staking in-game money in multiplayer games with real economies. I played roulette in a MUD when I was younger. But I only did it once. After that, I learned about the Gambler’s Fallacy =D
Kane99 Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Of course, GTA for the most part. But most games that have gambling, I've used to try and make some extra money. RDR2 for example has poker, and other card games if I'm not mistaken. I don't usually play the ones in RDR2, at least not yet in this playthrough. Too lazy to learn the actual games myself lol.

I think most open world games, at least modern ones, have some form of gambling and betting. I know Sleeping Dogs had some gambling options in the world. I imagine Yakuza seires and Shenmue do as well. I think most of the GTA games do it as well. Watch Dogs series as well I imagine. Essentially, most open world games that take place in mostly modern times, will usually have some form of gambling/betting options.
Clasher Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 Lol, i do that a lot with my buddies most especially on FIFA tournaments and the likes. We bet which player would win the competition it's fun and sometimes the loser only gets to buy the whole clique drinks on our next time out.
Empire Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 I had a friend who had a gambling addiction, I know he's spent thousands on those mobile games. One of them was Brave Frontier. So really, is that any better or worse, it's just a choice where to dump the money sometimes. Me, I have did basic in video games, but it was not real it's fake LOL never open my wallet in the realife.

So many of those games are predatory and pretty much steal your money. I think a lot of these apps are forced to give out a disclaimer about gambling, at least I would hope they do, because these games are so horrible with the predatory practices they take to get your hard earned cash. On top of that, there's got to be many scam apps that get by on these mobile stores. It makes you wonder how many people have gambled through these mobile games and never won a thing. Or got anything good in return. Oh and people who gamble for digital items that can't be sold or redeemed for cash, why you do dis?

I gambled in the past with friends around MK, MGP, PES etc. And I loss many contest and won as well. I played gambling via MMO, lost some interesting matches which I thought I would've won freely.

I bet Madden and other sports games have some gamers betting on who wins. I'm kinda tempted to start a tournament with friends to play a sports game or something, could be fun. 😄

Gambling sucked my head and I was just playing to get something out of my passion for playing some sort of video games. That was the reason why I engaged in different sorts of gambling with friends and other gamers. To be frank, I gained it back then betting with fellow gamers.

Gambling is so much different than in real life. I rarely gamble for real. I know the likelihood of winning most lotteries is very slim to none. I've played the mega millions and your typical scratch offs, but I can't see myself spending much on gambling. I'm cheap, and the same goes for gambling. If I go to a casino for example, I'm probably betting $50-$100 max and that's it. If I win big, I'll stop. But yeah, fake gambling in games is way different. I don't need to gamble in real life.
Heatman Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 I had it done countless times in playing Red Dead Redemption 2. It's actually kinda big fun for me. Taking it off the in game money, I did it a whole lot with my guys whenever we played FIFA games together.

I did the five finger thing in camp, but only did one of two rounds and that was it. As for fifa, do you mean betting with your friends in real life?

It's a common thing for my friends. They would never play FIFA just for the sake of playing and having fun. The outside betting will always come in to add more fire to how determined we play.

It's sounds strange to see that many people actually bet on RDR2 I haven't considered that before. I do bet on FIFA ,racing games , fighter games and the likes but I never considered placing a bet on an action adventure game like RDR2.
