  1. Like with your example with Joel, I like the whole lawful/chaotic/good/evil spectrum to be blurred so we all get to decide for ourselves what is right, rather than a game telling us it is or not. I don't think Joel is either - he's just doing what it takes to survive which, taken to its most logical, pragmatic conclusion, is a very selfish goal. Selfishness is rarely - if ever - seen as heroic or the ends justifying the means, but he might see his actions in the final act that way. The writers might. I don't but I accept that a lot of his actions were necessary, just as cordyceps aren't evil when they spread spores to infect hosts solely for their survival. Much as I like to lean toward anti-heroes, they're only as good as the ends which justify the means. An anti-hero isn't much good against a lawful-good leader; they have to be pitched against someone who also believes their way of survival and luxury is the right way. See the Punisher, who was made as a criticism of his world's judicial system which failed his wife and children, and a foil to Spiderman's own vigilante justice. Is not the road to Hell paved with good intentions?

  2. And from those of us that are/will be alone, have fun and get drunk with us. Especially if, like me, the holidays mean absolutely nothing to you.

  3. Don't diss the title, it's the accurate title for this holiday that pleases nobody, but pisses nobody off. It's perfect! All jokes aside, I, as forum mod, in a way wishes nobody reads this untill the 26th as you will all be to busy doing your part to overload the gaming netwarks playing those precious new shiny games, getting sick from eating to much bird and drinking to much mulled wine and egg nog, but most importantly, spending this precious day with friends and family. It's that time for all to be gerourous and thankfull for all we have and all have to offer to those we care about the most. If you do find yourslf on the forums, know you also have family an friends here aswell. So from me and all of us at VGR, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, whatever. Happy Holidays.

  4. Overall, I do think this is a correct description of him. But I feel there was more to the ending than that, and it took me a second playthrough to be sure I felt that way (and a couple of playthroughs of Left Behind). The imagery at the start of the game and the imagery at the end of it are close mirrors, and it seems to me that protecting what is innocent was a motive alongside survival. The soldier who shot Sarah was doing something pragmatic and logical, but also unnecessary. I got the impression what the Fireflies wanted to do with Ellie was potentially likewise. Plus, Riley seemed a clear source of virtue, and her words at the end of Left Behind were also similar to Joel's at the end of TLOU. I kind of felt like they reached the same decision point in different ways. Selfishness may not be heroic, but a character being selfish doesn't necessarily make him un-heroic either. Note: I haven't played TLOU II yet. For all I know, all of the above is wrong. In terms of being effective against that leader strategically, or in terms of good storytelling? Honestly, lawful good leaders sometimes irk me, as they often tend to have a black and white view of the universe that just doesn't fit with real life. While trying not to dirty their hands, they end up causing more harm than good sometimes. They don't make good soldiers. They are more worried about protecting their egos than protecting others.

  5. I like the concept to be honest. I also loved how the unlockable regions have different fishes in it. And also the graphics pretty good. I wish if they had android version of this game instead of the browser. That being said, I am not into the browser games anymore. too much churning of time and so little rewards.

  7. Deus Ex - Human Revolution and Mankind Divided shows what happens when Humans encounter a few who don't look like the others - the majority discriminate against them and perform all kinds of evil acts against them. Then the discriminated people start fighting back and suddenly they're being labelled as "terrorist" which were a product of their environment. This leads to a "civil war". I've seen so many examples of this throughout my lifetime and have experienced this a few times myself so I can completely relate.

  10. I don't know who Dbrand is, but daring someone like Sony to sue them is pretty much suicide. One of the biggest companies in the world, will have some of the most powerful attorneys in the world. There are only a handful of companies that could stand up to them. And those could most likely be counted on one hand. Microsoft Facebook General Motors Hell, that's all I can think of at the moment. You have to have some serious power to put up that kind of fight. So unless Dbrand is backed by someone like those I mentioned, they're fucked.

  11. I've never heard of this game, but it's a really cool concept. Kind of has the Habbo Hotel vibe without all of the microtransaction aspect from the get go (or so that I could tell by viewing their demo video on the register page).

  12. Scalpers only exist because people will pay over the price for something that they can have now, that is sold out. If it wasn't sold out, we'd have no scalpers, likewise if people could wait, there would be none either. I'll be curious on how many scalpers though get stuck with all of the consoles they have and are going to be selling them at market value in a few months.

  13. Honor-that is the key. Spot on with that one. Reminds me of Witcher 3 when Geralt, who slays monsters, was asked to get involved in politics and help kill a king. He said he doesn't kill kings. He's said that on multiple occasions actually. And he only kills when necessary. Not all monsters deserve to die that were demonized by villagers that provoked the monster.

  14. The worst example of this I've seen has to be the Broken Steel DLC from Fallout 3. Without this DLC, the game literally just stops. Ends. Just like that, with the main story only half told. The "ending" also happens without warning, so if you still have side missions and other stuff to, pray you have save file before starting the last main story quest available, otherwise that's you'll have to start all over again. I hated that, especially in an open world RPG.

    Rat Guide

Rats are actually scavengers, and will even resort to cannibalism if they need to. They won't turn anything down. But they do love fresh vegetables and fruits. Especially carrots and apples. Rats can cross breed with tame or wild. The genetic difference isn't enough to block breeding. And rats are extremely intelligent. They are one of the most easily trained pets a person can have. They love to explore, they love to groom their people, they're curious about EVERYTHING. They're happy to curl up on your shoulder and take a nap. Mine like to play thief and steal my glasses. If I can get some good pics of them, I'll post them. The only issue is that they don't usually sit still long enough to take a good pic. Like I said in the article, they're like children. The thing that makes rats the most sacred creature with a pulse to me, is that one saved my life about 20 years ago. So now I have an emotional need to have them and be around them.

  16. As I said in a couple of other posts, I'm not surprised this happened because Witcher 3 overheated my friend's GTX 1080 and caused it to stop functioning and at the time, it was one of the most powerful GPUs on the market. Their game optimization has always been on the poorer side and I've always pointed this out. To be fair, most of the DLC packs are going to be free (if I'm remembering correctly).
