  1. Funny you should mention that as Heavy Rain starts exactly like that holding down buttons and gesturing frantically to perform basic everyday tasks.
  2. What I want to see come out is irrelevant, what actually has a chance of coming out that is of interest to me, is maybe the System Shock remake. And then I draw a blank. 2020 wasn't that bad a year for gaming, there were a few games that I enjoyed. This year nothing, nada, and only have remakes / remasters to look forward to. So my outlook for 2021 is far grimmer than 2020 was.
  3. What makes me mad is when they can go into a state where they can't be damaged. Like going out of your reach or raising some magic barrier out of nowhere. Another thing that drives me to a nervous breakdown is when it has a health bar, but when it runs out it refills and it becomes harder to hurt. Just make the freaking health bar three times longer then, but don't gaslight me with a fake health bar.
  4. Transport Tycoon Deluxe Deus Ex Mass Effect Trilogy BeamNg XCOM2
  5. As long as it is explained by the game in a way that makes sense in the fictional universe I have no problem with unrealistic things. However unrealistic physics defying moves do bug me when the game is set in a perfectly normal world, with no superpowers and magic, or even gadgets to explain it.
  6. The only game related books I read were the official mass effect novels. The first three books by Drew Karpyshin were great, I can't recommend them enough. However the fourth book "Deception" by Dietz, is awful, avoid it like the plague. The writer was simply lazy and failed to get up to speed on even basic mass effect lore, and also ruined or wasted the characters built up by Karpyshin over the course of 3 books. I also read the first half of the Mass Effect Andromeda NExus Uprising novel. Why just half? Because I couldn't go on, it was so atrocious. This is an entirely other level of bad, compared to deception. This is not bad due to lack of research, it's bad because it was co written by untalented hacks. I've never seen this dreary and awful writing, infused with such social propaganda. Trying to raise feelings above science, which is ironic for a science fiction novel.
  7. I can't say any company made me angry, more like disappointed, but not angry. For example I'm really disappointed that Remedy keeps selling out. I'm also disappointed by polyphony that they skipped the entire ps4 generation not releasing a gran turismo on it. I never expected that, when every previous generation got two games each so far. I'm also not a fan of Papyrus now Iracing, who had a history of suing modders. the only time I remember being angry was when netherrealm decided to lie in the face of fans, pretending to cover up female fighters to not show skin to be more realistic, but the same time featuring men with almost no skin cover. There are several people in game development however whose mere mention makes me fume. I have little respect for developers who lash out at their own audience calling them stupid or other, worse things. Cliff Blezensky, Adrian Chimleraz, Hideo Kojima*, to name a few people whose names signal to me to run in the other direction and fast. Now I don't think Kojima ever lashed out at people, I just think he is a pretentious self infatuation junkie.
  8. I paid for EA Play, but as a substitute to buying games. There were several games I was interested in trying, and I could do that with paying one month. And it's a good thing too that I chose this route, because none of the candidate games were to my liking very much. At the end of the month I ended my subscription. I also did the same on UPlay plus when AC: Valhalla came out. I figured I can finish the game in 30 days and I was right, so basically I paid 75% less and got the exact same experience. I'd never consider subscribing to any of them on the long term, as it would pressure me into playing games whether I want to or not, so that the subscription doesn't go to waste.
  9. Heretic is always the first to come to my mind when this question is raised. The other game that could make a comeback is Soldier of Fortune, of course the purists would have a heart attack. But you might already know my stance on gore: the more realistic the less harmful. And of course Unreal should really make a comeback, people always talk about how Valve can't count to 3, but I didn't see an Unreal 3, did you? And quite frankly I'd be twice as excited for an Unreal 3 than a Half Life 3, I might even temporarily suspend my boycott of the epic store if they made an Unreal 3.
  10. I think L.A. Noire is a great example of this. It was the first game afaik, that attempted motion capture for facial expressions, and it's great but terrible at the same time. It always seemed to me that the character's faces live a life of their own independent from their bodies. Uncanny things really freak me out, I might have a slight phobia to it. Especially on humans, weird graphical bugs are more scary to me than any horror game intentionally can be. I mean floaty bodyparts, weirdly contorted bodies, or when the character turns their head 180 degrees. When the camera accidentally clips into the character's head and you see floaty eyeballs from behind, or an inner mouth floating, that's also up there. But even with inanimate objects sometimes it happens that polygons deform to huge sizes, or even infinity. That also freaks me out big time. As for intentionally uncanny designs, I recently played dishonored and dishonored 2, All the people in those games seem disproportionate with exaggerated facial features. At least I hope it's intentional and not just a botched job of a very lousy character artist.
  11. I clearly remember the first game I purchased at release was Test Drive Unlimited in 2006 (Still yet to be dethroned as the best racing game ever) Before that I didn't have an adequate income so I couldn't really afford to buy games, especially new ones. Since then I've bought numerous games at launch, it would make a very long list, so I'll only highlight a few titles: Mass Effect 2&3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, DeusEx HR&MD, Gran Turismo 6, The Last of Us II, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Beyond: Two Souls and the list goes on. Usually what compels me to buy games is that I have a good feeling about them and expect them to be great. However doing this is not without risk, sometimes I do end up with games that I don't actually end up playing through. Thankfully this is a relatively short list: Rage 2, Far Cry New Dawn,, C&C Remastered Collection, Ace Combat 7,
  12. I pre-order games because it's usually cheaper if I buy early. Apart from that the only benefit is getting the game asap. No pre-order in-game bonus item was ever worth a damn. More often than not these dlc items are often ridiculous looking, that are just powerful enough to mess up the learning curve of the game, but too weak to use them after the first 2 hours.
  13. Everybody wants to go on about their favorite game all time, but it's akin to viewing family home videos. it's completely meaningless to those who haven't lived those memories.
  14. I believe it is because both need differently designed combat. What works in third person doesn't in first and vica versa. Skyrim might have a third person view, but it's only for vanity. Actually playing the game like that is god awful imo. I wish more games had that option too, but not to play them, just to be able to look at your character from the outside. Some games have photo mode as an alternative, like Cyberpunk 2077, where you can't play in third person, but at least can view your character from another perspective.
  15. Tedium and grind. When the progress in the main story is hindered by having to go out of your way to complete disposable activities just to farm materials or money to be able to level up or get necessary upgrades for progression. An example where this happened to me is Dragon Age Inquisition, took a 6 month break before I finally wrapped it up. It also happened recently with Dying Light, I might come back to it eventually but right now I had to take a break. Burnout can also cause me to give games a break. Like I used to play a lot of Train Simulator, but barely touched it in the last few years. Also stopped playing XCOM2 for now. But at the same time I'm back playing Transport Tycoon Deluxe, after taking a very long break.
  16. Killmach89 levied it carte blanche without specifying that it's about the console version. And you also incinuated they are both bad, just the console version being slightly worse. I'm making an educaded guess that they are exaggerating based on the disparity between the actual state of the PC version and what is spreading on the internet about it. And don't put words in my mouth please, I never said they were lying, I said they are spreading misinformation and hearsay. I'm sure they believe the game is bad, but I have first hand experience with it that says otherwise. I'm not going to deny my first hand experience because of people who never played any version of the game at all. For the console version I'd be tempted to check it out to see for myself, had it not been removed from the store. But for the PC version I don't think there is a point in waiting, unless you wait for a better PC. The so called consensus of the internet is based on the opinion pieces of youtubers who thrive on hateclicks, and their vieweres spread what they hear like the gospel. The actual consensus of players who played the game is very different. If you check discussions about the game, it shows the same story as in the case of The Last of us 2 or Mass Effect Andromeda. Most who played it loved it, only a few who played it say it's not great, and the only people convinced it is bad are those who didn't play it, but heard the consensus of the tube, and took it upon themselves to convince everyone about its ultimate thruth.
  17. It's not that I hate walking. I hate walking as a means to get around. I feel like I'm wasting time. So I always go by car or bicycle everywhere. I hate public transport for the same reason, the wait for connections kills me. Combined with my strong dislike of big crowds I often can't even get on the first bus if there are too many people on it.
  18. I often walk in games that allow it. Not all the time, but sometimes it feels good to just immerse myself in the world. Ironically I'm also the type of person who has no patience for walking in real life. I often switch to jogging when I have to walk longer distances.
  19. And I just said don't spread misinformation. You have condensed so much that is false in this post 🤨 There are three kinds of people when it comes to Cyberpunk on PC. The first one who never played it but says it's unplayable, the second who played it and says it's playable just fine on PC, but missing some features they expected. And the third who says it's great as is. So who would you trust, the person who spreads hearsay or those who actually played the game? A version of the source code being stolen is meaningless. Just because someone has a version of the source does not mean they can compile it into a working program. And regardless, someone disguising malware as a "mod" can happen without that just as easily. It's up to you to avoid files from disreputable sources Especially mods that contain executable files.
  20. The Story might be defined, but the personality isn't. You can choose Shepard's prior experience, training, and lifepath, and can choose different answers in conversations, that defines his or her personality. To me no two Shepards were the same, they were all distinct characters, that got into different relationships, or none at all sometimes.
  21. I've heard that many times about various games, and most of the time they were wrong.
  22. I wonder what any of these have to do with gaming?
  23. I only ever bought one wwe game at a huge discount to play with the character creator. The game itself is terrible, but I just like what the haters wil call "playing barbie dressup"
  24. I sure hope it's better than Dying light.
  25. As usually with free games, I already have the ones I intended to play, and I'm not going to play a game I wasn'T interested in just because it's free.
