I did not forget it, it's too cartoony to be considered violent for me.

It's very rough since the model was created through 3D reconstruction aka. photogrammetry using screenshots from the model viewer. If I could get my hands on the actual models from the game it would be much better.

More focus on storytelling and less focus on clout and after sales monetization options. I don't know why are we accepting those. Would you accept your car charging you each time you turn on the radio? Or each time you roll down the window?  After you bought a game you should be able to play them unrestricted, and any later purchases should be additional content, and I don't mean weapon skins. Actual meaningful content.

Great review and I've also never heard of this game before. As for your point about IGN and others, they've lost their credibility since around the 2010s. Some of things that they complain about in their reviews is more on the lack of knowledge of the reviewer than the actual game itself. One IGN reviewer gave cuphead a terrible rating because he didn't know how to properly use the controls even though their was a tutorial in-game...

I liked your review, I'd never heard of it before but it kinda sounds like a linear version of a Fallout game.  I'm gonna look more into it.

I just finished this game and I have to say it's pretty amazing, especially for the budget and the size of the development team. But all mainstream sites that even bothered to review it uniformly said that it is a terrible game. Well 94% of gamers says otherwise.
Here is my take on it.

How many people do you meet or play as in these games aren't criminals, or at least unethical... Damn near nobody and that's regardless of race.  You play as a criminal and almost everyone you meet are gangsters, dirty cops, corrupted politicians, greedy business tycoons, asshole celebrities or just generally kind of dicks.

Exactly, there not pinning the identity of criminals on the playable characters because of their race, their doing because it's GTA!  It is worth noting that a lot of the characters in this franchise are very stereotypical, but again it's not racially motivated.

So in the previous two GTAs you play white italian dudes. First thing they do is kill people steal cars, etc. You presumably don't take issue with that.
But when you are playing the same game with a black guy, that is painting black people in a bad light?
When you are presented with a white criminal you automatically think that it is just one guy and not representative of the entire group of people, as you should.
But with the black guy you immediately jump to the conclusion "they are saying all black people are thieves" No, you are adding that part.
They are just presenting one dude, same as the white ones in the previous games. So why do you apply a different standard if it is not projection?

I'd not change it per se, but I'd make the indoctrination theory the canon ending of Mass Effect 3.

m76 got a reaction from StaceyPowers in Weird insight: It is way easier to socialize with NPCs than humans for me
In games I don't even want to interact with real people. Games should be my escape from reality. Add real people to it, and it is utterly ruined.
I don't have a problem interacting with people in real life, but I don't initiate contact with strangers unless absolutely necessary. In games however you are lead to believe that you stand to gain by interacting with NPCs. It'd be great if some games were more realistic in this regard, as in you might even get in trouble by initiating contact with the wrong NPC.

You sign it by accepting their eula. Which you must accept when installing the client or the game. Or in case of consoles you accept it on the first start or when you join the online service.

These days every major game has some sort of data collection built into them that analyses and sends information on your playing habits and in game choices back to the developer.
How do you feel about this?
I have to say I don't mind it if it is used to bettering games. I look at it as if a poll or questionnaire that you constantly fill.
But there are also very bad examples. Like recently when a developer used this data to publicly shame gamers for their in-game choices. This is unacceptable.  This is like the chef coming out of the kitchen in a restaurant and slapping the client in the face for ordering two courses that don't match in the opinion of the chef.

When I was young I dreamt of creating a game called life, in which you could choose a career and do anything. This was long before the sims or second life.
Later I thought I wanted to be a game developer so I started experimenting with game development, tried a few freely available engines, and even wrote my own driving game. Of course it was never completed, but it did work, you could actually drive in it.

m76 got a reaction from killamch89 in Do you ever get the season pass?
Season passes are like loot boxes you never know exactly what are you going to get for your money upfront.
I only got season passes when it was included in the deluxe edition of a game that I could get a good deal on.
Once or twice I bought a season pass after the season to get past content. But even then the content didn't live up to my expectation.
So basically a season pass is just a pre-paid subscription to a live service, no thanks.

m76 got a reaction from Family sedan in What types of weather do video games do best/worst?
Fog, has been done extremely well since the mid nineties when the first decent 3D Accelerators came out.

The worst while not exactly weather, i think is darkness. In most games you can either see clear as day or nothing at all when it is supposed to be dark. It just never feels right.
They also struggle with snow, there were some strides in this regard recently but it is still not good enough.

I'd study the effects of 'violent' games on kids, and prove it once and for all that there is no correlation whatsoever between playing videogames and committing real world violence.

I never specifically purchased any game related item seperately, only things that came with games as bonuses. Like I have a custom mug for the last of us with my online nickname on it. But unfortunately some of the art has worn off of it, because I've been drinking coffe from it since 2013.
I also have a Fallout lunchbox, and vault boy bobblehead.
A sam fisher wrist watch from splinter cell.
A Dodge Challenger statue from Driver San Francisco
That's about it for game related collectibles.

Oh, and I also have a Star Citizen Citizen's Card, and I'm really not proud of this one, it is a memento for getting conned.

m76 got a reaction from Heatman in Which buttons on your controller do you most frequently mix up?
all of them. I think for me to be comfortable with a controller it should only have 4 or 5 buttons tops.  I'd remove the circle and square and only have X and triangle. And only have a single R and L buttons. Nothing else. Then I might not end up mixing them all the time.
