StaceyPowers reacted to Withywarlock in How many game have you wound up buying twice?
It wasn't, no. I bought them numerous times for numerous systems, mostly used, not because of any remaster. Though they did have numerous editions with different amounts of DLC, if I recall correctly.

StaceyPowers got a reaction from Withywarlock in Why is it so hard to ride a horse in first person in a video game?
For some reason, it seems universally true that riding a horse is easier in third person than in first in games. But I don’t understand on a practical level why this is true. Does anyone know how to explain it?

For the Fallout cookbook to be real, there has to be some sort of radioactive dish on the menu. It's not going to feel authentic without it...Although you could just go to Chernobyl and hunt the animals there - it'd be the ultimate Fallout experience.

I'd be getting my own Playstation 5 sooner rather than later. At least in the next 2 to 3 months I should have it.

I notice I easily miss on-screen instructions in games, even those that are permanently stamped on menu screens. Do others have this problem?

StaceyPowers got a reaction from Shagger in Suggestion for Mass Effect Fans: Watch the 2004 BSG
    Parallels, leaving out spoilers:
1-The Quarian fleet and the Colonial fleet. The Geth and the Cylons.
2-Tricia Helfer's Six in BSG and EDI in Mass Effect clearly have some parallels. This was not a coincidence, given the casting.
3-Both stories focus on conflict between organics and synthetics (albeit organic synthetics in BSG).
4-Both stories focus on overcoming prejudice.
5-Picking the "green" ending in ME3 has somewhat parallel results to some aspects of BSG's ending.
-"All of this has happened before/all of this will happen again." Both BSG and ME focus on cycles of violence between organics and their creations, and putting an end to those cycles.
    Thank you, @Shagger.

Now, The Elder Scrolls one I can almost understand, but why would anyone want to eat food based of food from the Fallout universe?

StaceyPowers reacted to m76 in Mass Effect 3’s “Galactic Readiness” multiplayer thing
They already got rid of it in the director's cut patch soon after the original release. It was no longer required to play multiplayer to get the necessary readiness level.
That said multiplayer in ME3 was quite fun actually, one of the few games that I enjoyed playing online, so it is a shame that it is not included in the legendary edition.

My memories of Fairfax were largely of affluent suburbans, many of them defense contractors/ex-military. I always thought of it as a fairly sugar-coated place--toxic in its way, but usually by being kind of repressive? It sounds like your workplace was really messed up!

I'm autistic too, by the way, and also enjoy metal 🙂

Warning- video has them in it, not much though at around 50 sec and 1 min. mark. This is an example of what 8-bit rendering in TLOU2 looks like. Maybe it's something you can handle.

I am extremely trypophobic. What that is, is a fear of small holes in large groups. Unfortunately mine also extends to bumps as well. In my case it is also potentially lethal. I would like to ask that if you are going to post an image in a thread you create, to put a tag or something in the title that would let me, (and others like me) know that there is something that would trigger the phobia, so that we know to stay the hell out of the thread. If you want an example of what I'm talking about you can see one in this thread here. There are also tons of images on google, but I'm not going to try to link any, as doing so could possibly stop my heart in the process.
I know this is asking a lot, and I don't have the right to have everyone make special accommodations just for me. But if you can at least give a warning on posts like this, it could prolong my life and at least let me die peacefully instead of literally dying of fright. So I would appreciate it more than you could ever know.
I'm sorry if this sounds overly dramatic, but on my end it's an extreme situation. My girl often has to come home from work just to "talk me down" so to speak, and get me through it.

The Husks in Mass Effect are pretty much very creepy as well with how difficult they get using EMP blasts during fights.

I wont post any images for reasons explained in this thread, but I'll agree with @StaceyPowers, the clickers in TLOU have got to be some of the most creepy things to ever be bitrthed out of the imagination of a human being. The worst thing about the infected in the TLOU is that it's not something made up like the "zombie virus" of whatever most of such things in fiction are based on. The infected in TLOU are based on a real world infection called Cordyceps and puts an extra creepy, realistic spin on the traditional "zombie".

I forget what South Park character said it, but I think it went, 'If they made changes to the Colosseum every year, soon it would just be another big, douchy stadium.'  It was the Raiders of the Lost Ark episode.  The same applies to not changing games that are masterpieces.

If players dislike something about a video game story, there is sometimes extreme pressure on devs to change it. You don’t see this that often with books, movies, etc. Personally, I think this is rather ridiculous—creators make the products they want, market demand determines if it sells, end of story. Debates about story content are an issue of subjective values, not quality.

@killamch89 and @Razor1911 mentioned in another thread moving around while playing fighting or driving games (i.e. leaning while driving) as an immersive thing.
Made me curious. How many people here tend to do this versus sit completely still while gaming?

Creators should be free to create what they originally intended to instead of being pressured into pleasing players whose opinion might change on a dime even if they get what they originally asked for.

In GTA V, when the cops run each other over trying to apprehend you, they'll drive over any and everyone without so much as a whoops or an " I'm sorry".
