In all honesty, who didn't see this coming?
-
I spent the day with my pets. Since cleaning my nail polish off my bird stopped attacking me, so I was able to play with her again. She’s a weird bird. Nail polish freaks her out and video games piss her off. Tomorrow I’m gonna spend some more time with my newest critter. My little hedgehog Pablo. I’m working with him slowly to get him to warm up to his new surroundings. He’s been letting me tickle his belly a bit and is getting more confident in exploring around the floor when I get him out. He’s such a cutie. I’m also most likely gonna play with my furbies (rats). At the moment there’s 4 dogs, 3 rats, 2 birds, and one hedgehog. I’m one camel away from being able to charge admission. But there’s a woman here in town that has a pet camel, so maybe I can just borrow hers.😋

@StaceyPowers Assuming for the sake of argument you haven’t already, if you could pick one person from this forum to meet and spend 1 day gaming with, who would you pick and why?

It’s not really fair to compare Atari games to current game standards. The technological limitations back then couldn’t envision ever having graphics, story, or complexity that we have now. They were pretty much just block and dot matrix. Now however games are damn near lifelike in all those areas and more.

Do you have any video game themed clothing/accessories?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Do tattoos count? I have the exact same tattoo Zell has in FF8. The only difference is that he has it on the left side of his face and I had it tattooed on the right side of my face. I already had a teardrop on the left side, so I didn’t want it to overpower the tear. Hence, opposite side. But no biggie. It still looks great. I’m also looking at several gunblades on eBay. I also have 2 different master swords. Both fully wield able. They’re just not live blades. -
How long will you wait to buy a PS5/Xbox Scarlett?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I won’t be buying one any time soon. I always wait for a year or two with new systems. Assuming I have interest in it to begin with. By the time I look at it the price has gone down drastically, there’s a lot more games out, and bugs on the initial release have been addressed. And seeing as how I’m a classic gamer anyway, I usually don’t have any reasons to get a new gen system unless there’s a game title I’m a big fan of that I want to keep up with. At the moment the only title that I would have any interest in keeping up with is God Of War. -
I tried it on several different systems. PS1, PS2, and PS3 systems. It was the same result every time. The first edition copies I bought had no problem with disc 4. It was a fuck up within that print.

Diablo 1 on PC

I never would have expected anyone to say Spyro. I never got into it myself, because it just looked really weird, but this is honestly the first time I have ever heard anyone say anything bad about the game. Especially the first one.

Like? I have no good memories. Not a single good memory. Dislike? There’s not enough time left in eternity to scratch the surface. But the number one thing I hated as a child and grew to hate more and more as I grew up is my bloodline. There’s a reason I’m a clinically diagnosed sociopath. Add raging misanthropy on top of it, and you’ll know now why I keep all relationships online. I don’t trust myself. You can trust me until you fuck me over. Then I will be haunting you until I have destroyed your entire life and world. I take vengeance to an extreme that most can’t fathom and the rest simply don’t want to.

Each system is most likely going to have at least one point in the game where it outdoes the other. No system is perfect, and there are going to be screwups. Some massive some minor. It's the luck of the draw. One thing that it may be is your copy of the game. I had bought a new copy of FF8 several years back, and disc 4 didn't work. The system didn't even recognize that there was a disc in it. So I took it back and exchanged it for another one. Same problem. I tried a 3rd exchange and still had the same problem. It turned out that it was the print edition of the game. There was a major screw up somewhere and entire line of that print had no information on disc 4. It was basically a frisbee. I ended up having to buy a first edition of the game to be able to play disc 4. This was one of the later "Greatest Hits" prints that was released. So you may need a new copy of the game from a different series.

Walmart Has Jumped On The Propoganda Bandwagon
The Blackangel replied to killamch89's topic in Gaming News
Walmart has always had bullshit policies. I asked them recently if they had the newest season of American Dad. They said no because "we're a family store". I looked at her for a second and finally said "Then why the fuck do you sell Family Guy?". Seems they can't get any of their shit straight. More or less they pick and choose where it's comfortable for them to be. It's entitlement run amok. -
The most cryptic game I have ever played was Riven. I was completely bombed within the first couple minutes of playing it. I didn’t know what kind of game it was, going in. I just liked the graphics. Then I found out that it’s just the type of game that is way out of my league. Kudos to those that can get that kind of game. I just don’t have ability in that area.

What is the worst outfit you’ve ever seen a character in a video game wearing? This is for both playable characters and NPC’s. But not outfits that can be designed by the gamer. The worst to me is Dr. Odine in FF8. The thing that gets me the most is that stupid ass collar that he’s wearing. I can’t stand that damn thing. I absolutely can’t think of anything else that I hate as much as that fucking collar.

I don't watch a lot of TV, usually just YouTube. But the best movie I've seen this year is by far La Llorona.

La Llorona Billion/10 Bought it yesterday and watched it as soon as I got home. This movie just gets better and better every time I watch it.

I just realized that my brain wasn’t fully engaged yet with my previous post. I had only been awake for about 20 minutes when I made it. I forgot about Wind Waker on Game Cube. It’s a cartoon. That’s all that needs to be said. But requiring a boat to go from island to island was a major fuckup.

Let's list some of the differences. I'm not counting spin offs like Link's Awakening or Majora's Mask. Strictly Hyrule games. 1) (NES) no towns of any kind, triforce broken into 8 pieces, dungeon bosses reused 2) (NES) multiple towns, dungeons all look the same and turned to mountain upon defeat, roaming monsters throw you into short battles, hyrule has grown 100 times its previous size, no selectable items, spells 3) (SNES) back to one town, now have a light world and dark world, lake hylia, kakariko town is the only town, piece of heart introduced (not counting Link's Awakening), master sword created 4) (N64) kokiri forest, gorons, gerudos, death mountain is now a volcano, multiple new items, multiple items lost from previous Zelda, time travel, songs required on ocarina to reach certain dungeons, different clothes (tunics, boots) required, navi 5) (Wii) goat herding, never before seen towns and provinces, races severely reimagined, more new races, midna replaces navi, turned into wolf That's just NES through Wii. I didn't include Game Cube because if memory serves me correctly, there was just one game on Game Cube, and that was 4 Swords. Which wasn't a Hyrule game. I know there was a release of Ocarina Of Time along with the ocarina master quest. I know that because I have it. But that one doesn't count for Game Cube because it was a rerelease from a previous system. If I missed any major differences, point them out and let's discuss them.

Try Amazon and eBay. Those are your best chances to find it. If you don’t see it right now, check back periodically. I’ve found games and other stuff that way. I say eBay is more likely to have it.

There have been 2 for me. Solar Jetman on NES, and another I can't remember the title of that was on PS3. I hated Solar Jetman because with the slightest touch of the D-pad the fucking thing would spin uncontrollably. There wasn't shit you could do with the damn thing. And that was when I was a kid and spent $50 on the damn game. The PS3 game, I took it back about 30 minutes after I bought it. OMG it was the worst video game ever imagined in the history of gaming. I played a new game file FF8 nonstop until I was at the end of the 3rd disc, just to get that damn game out of my head. Needless to say, that burn me out on FF8 for several months. But it did the trick.

It's been a long time since I've come across a truly cryptic game. Even in the PS3/Xbox360 era, they were few and far between. There were bosses here and there that had specific patterns and whatnot that you had to follow to beat them. In God Of War (Chains Of Olympus I think) when you fight Charon, you have to follow a specific battle plan. And often if you don't have a players guide, you're screwed. Then there's Zelda: Oracle Of Ages. How are you supposed to learn how to beat the mini boss in dungeon 4? Its shield is indestructible, so you can't land a hit. You have to let him destroy his own shield, which takes careful maneuvering. Yeah, I knew that going in the first time. Note the sarcasm. FF8 had a lot of cryptic parts. Summoning Doomtrain for example. Even if you find the Solomon ring, you would have to have all issues of Occult Fan magazine before you would have the slightest clue what the ring did, on your first time through. Enter players guide. That's what it took for me to figure out what the fucking thing was for the first time I got it.

MDK is free now. It’s a Win95 game, but it was awesome as hell. There’s another one called Dark Earth. It’s a bitch to find, but if you can, it’s more than worth the search.

The only game in that genre that I can think of off the top of my head at the moment that I ever really enjoyed was Excitebike (NES).
