Being that with the exception of several PS4 games, I'm strictly a classic gamer, my eyes do fine. Whether I'm playing SMB or RDR2, it doesn't matter. Considering that you're not used to it, you would probably have to train your eyes. Go back gradually and let your eyes get used to lower graphical abilities. It would take a long time, depending on your eyesight. Possibly a couple years or more. I would say to go for it. As for the actual graphics, it's NES style not PS1. NES was 8 bit, PS1 was 32 bit. The pixelation of the graphics is a dead giveaway.

Is that video safe for me to watch?

I'm so damn bored right now. Nothing holds any interest for me at the moment. No games, no movies, no nothing.

Travel destinations and recommendations
The Blackangel replied to aerodynamik's topic in General Chat
You can try the Caribbean. I've been down there 3 times, and have visited every island except Cuba. I might recommend not going to Grand Cayman if it's summer. The heat down there is crippling. You can take a cruise like we did, do some shore excursions, and just try to have a good time. Just stay away from Princess cruises. That was the last one I went on, and one of the stewards sexually assaulted me. So be careful if you take a cruise. I'll never take another one for that one reason. -
Initially, being a game tester sounds like a dream come true. But in game development, they have one of the worst jobs, because they're on more of a time crunch than anyone else. If I remember right, Nintendo tried to do motion capture for Mario 64, and had the testers running up and jumping into a wall to get Mario jumping right. As a result of that, several of them ended up with concussions and even a few broken bones. If that's how they want their games tested, then count me out. I could do motion capture as long as the character in question was in a wheelchair. But I'm more into voice acting than being videoed for anything.

What was the first video game you played in 2023?
The Blackangel replied to Shortie's topic in Video Games
For me it was Link's Awakening on my Switch. I've been kinda binging on it. I played a bit of RDR2 yesterday, but had to get out to get an alignment on my car, then went grocery shopping. I got home late, and was so exhausted that I just said to hell with it and went to bed. The first game I picked up this year is The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me. I've been looking forward to getting it ever since I saw the post the post @Kane99 made about it. I haven't popped it in as of yet, but I plan on running it soon. -
Yes it does have that 8 bit mode. As for how it looks, it's more line NES graphics. PS1 was 32 bit. @Reality vs Adventure posted a video Here that shows what the game would look like.

I actually am ambidextrous and have no problem using either mouse. As long a the one for the left hand is built in reverse. Trying to get things right with a right handed mouse with my left hand is a bitch. I'm sure that's true either way.

Microsoft Blocked From Creating Gaming Industry Monopoly
The Blackangel replied to The Blackangel's topic in Gaming News
I read an article about that. They were laughed out. I'm just super happy that they failed in their attempt. If Nintendo had sold out, I wouldn't be able to play Nintendo games anymore. That's just because they would have decided that money was more important than games. Sure, they hav their shady practices, but there's no company that doesn't regardless of what market they're in. -
This is something completionists will definitely relate to. Now I'm not a completioniest per se, but there is one thing that absolutely drives me insane. Short trip, I know. Ha ha ha. I play Link's Awakening on my Switch a lot. I would play it on m Game Boy, but can't find it. The Game Boy copy is irrelevant to this conversation though. For those that haven't played it, there are 50 secret seashells for you to collect, as oppose to 26 on the Game Boy copy. I have no real issue collecting them, except one. I can never find that last damn shell. I get 49 of them easy. But for some reason that 50th shell always eludes me. I've gotten all 50 before, but if I remember correctly that was a one off thing. I go to Zelda Dungeon to try to find it, but every one that I look at I'm sure I got. I go to each spot hoping to find one that I missed and no luck. I honestly don't know what the hell I'm doing. It's ripping my hair out frustrating. What's your 50th seashell issue?

Being that there are only two candidates, this one will be interesting. I don't remember the last time we had only two people. Either way, good luck @Shortie and @ImmersionGaming22

I became aware of Farmville a couple years ago, but by that time I can only assume that it's no longer on Facebook because I could find nothing about it. Personally as someone who grew up on a small stock farm, it wouldn't really appeal to me. I already know how hard work that is, and I don't have the interest in playing a game that is the same thing I did every day as a kid. In the early days of Facebook, I was probably still on MySpace. I left it behind long ago, so I honestly don't know.

Would you agree that gamers are lonely people?
The Blackangel replied to Shortie's topic in Gaming Forum
I don't think there could be any consensus about this unless every gamer everywhere was questioned. I know that I'm lonely, because I have been all my life. I'm also an introvert and socially awkward. At this point in my life, I prefer to be by myself. But as @Shagger said, there's a difference between solitary and lonely. And it's a big one at that. So all in all, it comes down to the individual, and their personal circumstances. As far as lonely goes, nothing sucks so much as being alone even when your surrounded by people. -
What kind of mouse does everyone use? I use the traditional mouse that people think of when they're talking about a computer mouse. I could never get the hang of a stationary mouse. A guy I knew had to use one because his hands were just too big for regular mouse's. I know some people just prefer them, but I'm not one of them. And for anyone who might not know what a stationary mouse is, here's a pic of one. It's a stock photo I found on a google search, but at the same time was the best one I could find:

Do you use your gaming PC only for gaming, or for other stuff too?
The Blackangel replied to DC's topic in PC
My gaming PC is my computer for all things. Documents, surfing the web, gaming, music, and just about anything else that you can think of that would be done on a PC in an average day. I bought a new printer the other day, because the one I had quit actually printing. The scanner and copier still worked fine, but the printer completely quit. It also quit working wirelessly so I had to have it plugged into any available USB port to use it. -
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Video Games
I picked it up yesterday, (12-31-2022) but it was late and I was exhausted, so I didn't get to play it. If all goes well, I'm planning on playing it today sometime. I'll post a thread that's more about the gameplay and give a review of my impressions of it. I just hope it was worth the money. -
Inconsistent design in a single franchise. The biggest culprit of this is The Legend Of Zelda. With every release, Hyrule is in no way even similar to the previous entry. The only thing the games have in common is the name Hyrule, and the characters of Zelda, Ganon, and Link. There is literally nothing else that's found in every game. Including the master sword. That wasn't a thing in TLOZ and Zelda II on the NES. The first one had 3 different swords for you to find. But the second one barely even had a sword. More like a severed erection than a sword. When Nintendo releases a new Zelda game, Hyrule is nowhere near what the previous one was. I wrote an entire article on this that's posted here if anyone wants to read it.

I never would have noticed any of these. I have seen most of the movies referenced, but that doesn't mean I would make the connection. Would anyone here have made the connection?

No shit these are a bitch.

If they're able to we could be able to expect more quality games instead of broken and/or unfinished games. I don't know much of anything about unions, but what I do know is that they're usually a boost for the workers. More reasonable wages, more worker rights, and just in general higher morale in the workspace. Unless the head of the union gets greedy or something.

In no particular order my top 5 are Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Layers Of Fear: Legacy FutureGrind Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Snowboarding The Next Phase Those are the most likely anyway. I have more games than I know what to do with (damn you Nintendo eShop!) right now, so it's hard for me to pick out just 5.

Ok, sooooooooo............................. What next? Does it give someone else twice as much? Does it kill someone? Does it have a consequence that would ruin your life? Will it grant you everything you ever wanted except one thing? There's a lot of context left out here. Finish your posts. Before you hit the submit button.

What art did you learn? Here the most common is Tae Kwon Do. I'm sure I misspelled that, but I'm being too lazy to look it up.
