My first was the NES. I go a year after it hit the western market, and was blown away. Coming from someone who played a Colecovision previously, the graphics were so advanced and lifelike. You have to remember that everything prior was 2 bit graphics, whereas the NES was 8 bit graphics. SMB was the pinnacle and cutting edge of gaming. Everyone who had an NES was playing it constantly, and everyone who didn't own one was begging to play. I still love the system to this day. I have more than 100 games for it, and everytime I play one, I fall more in love than the day before. I would have to say my favorite is an old classic: The Legend Of Zelda. Several great entries in the franchise have been great, yet some were pure shit. At least in my opinion. But no matter what they do with Zelda, no entry will ever compare to the first one. It was, and still is, a true masterpiece. And it was the NES that brought it to us. Hence (again this is opinion) it was and is the greatest system ever released. Not just Nintendo, but all around. Better than any PlayStation or Xbox.

Box art is what sold a lot of games in that era. People would get bored with what they had, so they would go see what was available. They would see something with art that intrigued them, so they would take a shot. More often than not, it didn't impress. But some found that gold nugget they had been hoping for. Hell, I have games in my library that I don't really like, but I still play them when nothing else is drawing me in. But being that your first was 20 years ago, it's entirely likely that you wouldn't remember your first game. I'm not particularly sure what mine are, but the games I listed were two of the earliest I can remember. I think except for people who grew up at least on PS3, most of us won't remember.

Not counting systems that were made before you were born, did anyone miss an era of gaming? I did. The era I missed was the entire PS2 era. I was homeless at the time, so it was well out of my hands. I was able to get out of that situation before the official launch of the PS3 here in the western market. But all in all, I missed out on the whole time. I have no idea what games could be listed as "good" and which ones would be labeled as "bad". I hear a lot about Crash Bandicoot, but as I'm not all that familiar with it, I don't know if it's a PS1 or PS2 game. As I have said many times, I was always a Nintendo girl. It wasn't until I met @Rain Dew that I ever actually made physical contact with a PS2.

It's been more than 20 years, so I can't be sure, but it had to have been either Bushido Blade or Castlevania SOTN, both on PS1. I was always a Nintendo girl, so initially I didn't really pay much of any attention to PlayStation. I expected it to go the same way as Sega did. Stick around for a while, but ultimately fail. I felt the same towards Xbox. How wrong I was.😋

@Rain Dew always asks me what I want, and I do the same with her. It's just a way to simplify things instead of sitting there thinking "Uhhhh.... Which one? If I pick that one, she's gonna send me right back out here. That one she'll break my spine." So we just ask for a list of some things we want. I have several Amazon lists of shit I want, so I sometimes just point her in that direction. She does the same.

2022 was second only to 2020. This year has been a shit show of the highest caliber. Political unrest is at an all time high, aside from the civil war era. Hopefully 2023 will be at least a smidge better, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's pretty much everywhere that people say one or the other, and it's usually a geographical thing. Me being American, it's Mom. Considering that our base language is English English, maybe it's something to do with us speaking American English. But at some point we started saying Mom. It had to be recent, because not too long ago is was Maw and Paw. Mama and Papa were randomly used. Typically it was kids in the foster system. I saw an argument on YouTube a couple years ago from an American asshole. I remember him asking "Is it mother or muther?" as if that proved he was right. I had seen him around on other videos as we apparently subscribed to a couple of the same channels and he was a major racist. One time I even saw him say"N*****s have no place in hockey. Hockey is a white man's game." which in all honesty made me almost ashamed to be a hockey fan. But as usual I'm getting off topic. So which do you say? Why do you think it's different from area to area? For that one I have no concrete opinion, because aside from what I mentioned already, I honestly have no clue.

It was several years ago in what she thought was a private conversation with a friend, who then leaked it. She fought tooth and nail to keep the news of her comment from spreading worldwide. Thus only a few people were privy to it. There was a newspaper somewhere who was going to run the story, but she threatened them with a lawsuit covering about 100 billion things. Since it was technically hearsay, they wouldn't be able to positively prove she said it, so defamation and libel were among her threats. She has the power and money to destroy almost anyone she wants. I heard that a lot of hush money was paid to keep it as secret as possible. But while you can pay someone to keep their mouth shut after the fact, you can't keep the populace from talking about it and spreading it the story.

So this is basically a Matrix question? Aren't we already doing that? I mean the only difference I can see from your question is that we choose the world we would live in. If it's my option, it would easily be Hyrule. The N64 Ocarina Of Time version. My personal favorite. It's an extremely laid back world, as long as Ganon is kept in check. There is one other option that comes to mind for me. The world of FF8. I've always wanted to live in Fisherman's Horizon (FH). It seems to be so laid back. Quiet. Calm. Peaceful. If that wasn't an option, the only other town I would want to live in would have to be Winhill. RDR2 does have a foot in this race, but that's just because there are so many cabins and shacks to choose from.

At least one thing I do know is that no matter how much money they throw at them, Microsoft will NEVER be able to buy Nintendo. Not only because Nintendo Co. Ltd has no direct owner (the current president is the great grandson of the founder) but because they could never afford it. Microsoft would have to go bankrupt 10 times over at least. Not to mention that they were laughed out of Nintendo for trying to buy it once already. Nintendo was founded in 1889 as a playing card company. Their history stretches back further than the mere existence of both Sony and Microsoft combined. While Nintendo is only worth $54.49 billion (which is easily in Microsoft's budget) to sell to them Nintendo would demand 100 times their net worth to even consider it. With the introduction of PlayStation and Xbox into the gaming market, Nintendo's net worth dropped DRASTICALLY. All that said, they would refuse to sell. Their philosophy seems to be that bankruptcy is better than selling out. Companies have attempted to purchase Nintendo before, though none have come close to a successful deal with the Japanese company. In 1999, Microsoft attempted to purchase Nintendo (only a couple of years before Xbox would hit the market). According to Bloomberg, two executives approached Nintendo with an offer: Microsoft would acquire Nintendo, and while Nintendo would continue to create games, Microsoft would manufacture all of the company's hardware. "We actually had Nintendo in our building in January 2000 to work through the details of a joint venture where we gave them all the technical specs of the Xbox," former head of business development Bob McBreen said. This was mentioned in the thread I posted last year about my phobia, but we both have a new question. Will the downgraded graphical version of TLOU/TLOU2 run on a PS5? Obviously we already know it will run on a PS4, but we can't find anything on a google search answering whether or not it will work on PS5. @Rain Dew wants to watch me play the game, but until she has beaten it and we can downgrade it, I can't play it.

I wouldn't go for it. Simply because it would most likely be for games I have no interest in like GTA or COD. So for me it's a pass. Now if the codes were for NES, SNES, or N64, I would be down with checking that one out.

I checked it out on eBay, and the prices are insane. I saw it going for everything from $120 to $500. I would have bought myself a copy if it wasn't going for those kind of prices.

What I want to know, is why didn't Nintendo make their own version of a CoD game, and just call it something else? That would have been easy for them with the technological capabilities they have. They didn't have to go through Activision Blizzard for it. As long as it wasn't the same engine or script, but the same game in most ways, they're in the clear.

The game that made me buy an Xbox One is Tell Me Why. I relate toe the characters in so many ways. When I saw the trailer (I think @Shagger is the one that posted it) I knew right then and there that I had to get the system.

The snow here is deep and heavy. It's also a wet snow, which makes driving anywhere without snow tires is practically a death sentence. Our power grid is still up. But states like Texas have lost their power. Their grid is down for a hell of a lot of the state. I'm in Missouri, and it's almost to a point the the police will arrest anyone for being out due to the cold. That happened a few years ago, and I can tell you, they weren't exaggerating when they said they would do it. They'll cuff you, throw you in their cruiser that's set up for the weather, and either take you downtown, or run your ass home. This is honestly one of the worst winters we've had in a long time. I've been to Hell, also in Grand Cayman. If even the devil is asking for a heater (Michigan) or some AC (Grand Cayman) then you know the winter is out of control. Mother Nature is pissed, and now we're suffering the consequences for it.

I can't support anything related to Rowling. Especially when she said that child porn is better than being transgender.

I'm simply at a loss for words. This isn't really anything new, but the factor that has it ramped up is frightening. I don't give a shit what happens to adults, as they're responsible for their own actions. But going after children is where I draw the line.

It looks really familiar. There was another movie that we watched that was extremely like this, but it turned out to be centered around some religious cult that wanted a sacrifice. The set really reminds me of that. Despite all that, it does look good to me. I know I'm almost 2 months late but this is the first time I can honestly say that I've seen/noticed this thread.
