I've used SoulSeek for several years now, and it's great. Thousands upon thousands of users, and searches quick to find you what you're looking for. Someone always has it, and you can search anything you want. -
It's not a typo. Croquet is a lawn game.

Sarcastaball would be funny as hell to watch.

Reveal What Job You Should Really Have - SECOND TEST
The Blackangel replied to The Blackangel's topic in General Chat
Damn @killamch89! You got best on EVERYTHING. I guess there's nothing a killa can't do. -
Slow for the most part. Except for last night. I got a hedgie. Here's a couple pics of her. I haven't picked a name yet, but I have a few possibilities rattling around the empty space in my head.

VGR members shouldn’t feel shy to express themselves
The Blackangel replied to Reality vs Adventure's topic in General Chat
It's understandable to be apprehensive about making a post or starting a thread. We all have thoughts second guessing ourselves. Not with every post mind you, but with a lot of them I'm sure. The only thing you can really do is try to get out of your own head. You may be able to offer an insight to the topic that makes everyone understand that topic even better. Just make sure you're on topic even if the conversation has gone off topic, which is a fairly common occurrence unfortunately. You never need to feel embarrassed about making a post. There's somewhere to post it, as this forum covers just about everything somewhere. Obviously there are things that are absolutely forbidden, many of which would warrant an immediate ban and report to the authorities. But if you just use some common sense, then you're good to go. I don't post in a whole lot of topics, because the topic at hand is either something I know absolutely nothing about, or is something I have no meaningful comments to make that would contribute to the conversation at the time I was reading it. As for intimidation, as far as I know @Rain Dew and I are the only lesbians here. -
There was a time that I wanted to try both skydiving and bungee jumping. The problem that blocked me is my extreme fear of heights. I even get uncomfortable someone looking from up high in a movie. When I was in boot camp, we were at the rappel tower and I had my eyes closed as I waited in line, and was constantly saying "two feet up, two feet up" over and over. My drill instructor saw me and asked what the hell I was doing. I told her that I was extremely afraid of heights, so she moved me to the front of the line. She understood, as the fear of heights is an extremely common phobia. While this was happening, we were probably 8 feet off the ground. But then climbing the ropes at the end of the o cor was just as bad because they were 30 feet high. Not a whole lot shorter than the rappel tower.

In the Win98 era, I was damn good at building computers. But that was 25 years ago. Since then I haven't built anything other than a bologna and cheese sandwich.

I don't have the clue what computers have these days. I wouldn't have a clue how to build one. That said, I just go with prebuilt computers, like an HP or something.

Do you think scalpers will buy up the PSVR2 as well?
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Playstation
Personally, I will do without before I will even consider buying from a scalper. I have no respect, nor will I ever have for people who buy from scalpers. You won't see us being friends. I have no interest in being friends with someone that would do that shit. The same goes for the scalpers themselves. You're not my friend. You won't become my friend. -
Here in the states we drive on the right hand side of the road. The steering wheel is on the left side of the car. I know a lot of you drive on the left hand side of the road with the steering wheel to the right side of your car. But could you drive if everything were reversed? I know that I could never be able to manage that. I instinctively go to the right hand side of the road, so I would cause a lot of problems if I tried. The only time I drive on the left side is if I'm in the fast lane on the interstate. Or any double lane highway for that matter. But the road is still to the right. So could you manage to do it?

It's RDR2 for me. I get into playing it and before I know it, the entire day has passed, yet I STILL don't want to put down the controller. I've gone on binges that lasted more than a week. From the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed, I'm on the game. @Rain Dew has had to literally pull me away from the game a few times. Lucky for her, I'm in a wheelchair. The game is so easy to get so deep into it, that you forget it's a game. And the fact that there's so much to do in it, makes it all that much harder to put down. In my personal opinion, RDR2 is just about the greatest game ever made.

The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Playstation
I'm not getting one, but YES they will scalp the hell out of it. They're not getting much for the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X since they're more readily available. The Walmart here has PS5's in the shelf for $549.99 plus tax. So since the stores have them readily available, scalpers are shit out of luck on their inventory. But upon release, it's going to be the same situation. Good luck to anyone wanting one, but don't hold your breath about getting one early unless you were able to preorder. -
Thanks, though I'm not a fan of turning 41. I'll get some as soon as I have time. If I remember correctly, it looks just like the European version of the SNES. But after I can get some pics, you'll have to confirm or deny that, as I honestly have no clue.

Vulgarity In Video Games, Especally NPC Prejudice/Bigotry
The Blackangel replied to The Blackangel's topic in Gaming Forum
I was completely unaware that the rules had changed. Back when I was in the marines, I wanted to go infantry but it wasn't open to women. At least we're being allowed to all MOS's now. I don't know exactly how it affected him. All I know is that he talked about it to anyone interested and willing to hear it, and was proud of the job he did. As for otherwise, I don't know if his time in WW2 left him with any PTSD or not. On that side, all I know is that he wasn't someone I wanted to be around if I had the option. The fact that the guy who played Lenny in RDR2 was black softened the reception of the language. Also the time period of the game was a consideration. The woman who played Tilly was also black and she was fine with the language due to the game's story line. But I agree with you entirely. Foul language is fine in games as long as it isn't overdone. Pushing the lines between PC and reality is fine too, as long as you don't cross that line. Whatever language chosen to put in a game is on the developers. As for us as gamers, we obviously have the option of whether we want to engage in the game or not. I'm sure the language aspect has kept a good amount of gamers from picking up games like GTA and RDR2. There's also a lot of scripted bigotry. I don't play GTA, so that's an assumption on that part. But regardless of what game it is, (Skyrim, GTA, RDR2, CoD, GoW, AC, TLOU, RE, or SMB it's) it just has to be carefully considered so that the language doesn't take away from the gaming experience. This goes for all aspects, including as bigotry and violence. -

The American armed forces don’t allow women in the infantry. Only men are allowed in it. Women can be part of everything else, but we typically don’t send women into war zones unless they’re nurses of doctors. The entire American military is extremely sexist. I know women who would make far superior infantry than men. But what’s between the legs determines if you’re qualified or not. I don’t talk much about it, but my grandfather earned 5 bronze stars as a medic, and was part of a unit that liberated Auschwitz. He was a severe hardass, and I was never comfortable around him. Games that take inspiration from real events, are fine. Expect colorful language and less than favorable opinions of other demographics of people from NPC’s. I personally think that these kind of things add to a game if it’s done correctly. -
Yeah but the biggest AAA games are usually region free.

I saw both a bobcat and s as hellcat while I was hunting for something to eat. Not in the same year thankfully. Luckily I was downwind of them so they didn’t smell me. And I was far enough away that they didn’t see or hear me. I did hear some footsteps and a low growl outside my camp one night. It was a good thing I kept up with my fire and it was burning really well. When I heard all that, I made sure my shotgun was loaded and cocked before I came out from under my shelter to put more wood on the fire. I didn’t sleep very well that night.

If I remember right, it’s Quebec that speaks French more than English. I didn’t know that Spanish had much of a presence in Canada. It shouldn’t be a surprise though. Just because they don’t share a border with Mexico doesn’t mean the language is absent.

Microsoft has 10 year commitment to bring COD to Nintendo consoles
The Blackangel replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
If it isn't Mario of Zelda they seem to have little to no interest. Yes they have both Skyrim and Witcher 3 on their systems, which are both not kiddie games. And both are rated M for mature. A bit ironic, but considering that they're fantasy games, that could have played a role in their decision. I'm sure the Switch version is a watered down version of the actual games for several reasons. CPU capabilities being one. Nintendo's ridiculous demands being another. -

I'm not surprised about the more mature content, as it seems like the majority of gaming is aimed at the adult market. I've been seeing it go that way ever since Conker's Bad Fur Day. Sure there are child oriented games, but what I see all the time is games with mature/adult oriented content. I'm not complaining about it. You all know I love RDR2, and it's one of, if not THE most adult themed game I have ever played. But you also have to remember that I'm a classic gamer and spend more time on my NES, SNES, and N64 than anything. Yeah I play RDR2 a hell of a lot, but nowhere near how much I play the old stuff. To get back on topic, if someone is a candy ass and just has to find something to bitch about, they will take whatever they can find. I'm sure there's some jackass out there that searches specifically for games that are themed to adults, so they can go on a crusade to try to get it removed from the market. Parents tried to do that with Mortal Kombat. It didn't work then, and I'm sure it won't work now. All they were able to do is soften the graphics on the SNES version. Games are going to get more and more graphic as time goes on. I would be willing to bet that at some point in the future, the gaming market will end up being strictly aimed at adults.
