  1. See, I actually do think the majority of people aren't that stupid, the problem is the minority who are that stupid are also so much louder and more invested in the argument. The smart, level-headed portion of the population's biggest problem when it comes to stuff like this is their silence.
  2. I would agree with that when it comes to RPG's, but not for every game. There are games that more about observing the events that occur rather than dictating them, like The Last of Us for example, and it's totally fine imo to not have a character creator in such a game either. It feels odd to say, but sometimes a certain level of distance from a protagonist is important when telling a story. If they always just did what you wanted and expressed themselves exactly the way you expect, it would be a bit boring. I agree, but again, only when it comes RPG's for the same reasons as I said to @m76. I usually do create female avatars in those kinds of game anyway because I prefer to role-play as whom I'm not, if that makes sense. I'm not sick of what you described as a typical male leads in games, but I'm definitely sick of the so-called "gamers" who insist it needs to be that way. Glad to see someone else who isn't an insecure, misogynistic moron. Back on topic and back to RPG's, what every game of that type should have a selling/ loot system like in Kingdoms of Amalur. You find a bit of loot or gear you want to sell, put into the "junk" folder of your inventory with one click, then when you get to a merchant, sell it all with one click. Simple. It's a small thing, but the systems in other games, especially the likes of Skyrim and Fallout, can be so tedious and annoying with limits on how much you can sell to each merchant having to sell each item one at a time. I hate it.
  3. I don't think I mentioned this on the forum, but I was isolating waiting for a COVID-19 test. I had the test on Monday and I got the results. It was negative. So, life will now go on as is what qualifies as "normal" for now. I am looking at treating myself to number of fancy new tools for work reasons, and they're annoyingly expensive. Useful, pretty much essential, but expensive.
  4. I'd say the gameplay, especially the shooting mechanics, are a huge improvement over previous Fallout games. The protagonist is now fully voiced, which is a nice touch. I also like the new crafting and power armour mechanics as well, more in depth and overall more interesting to use. The story is also decent, not as good as NV, but better that Fallout 3. Whare is game's weakness? Basically, in the overall RPG experience itself. It's not easy to get the best out of the leveling system and both the dialogue and branching choices feel more limited than in previous games with some dialogue options not changing anything. The settlement feature was also nice idea, but to be honest it wasn't well executed, and I can only imagine that it's even worse on console. It's frustrating, pestering and difficult to use. It's a mixed bag, but if you're willing to up with a slightly more inferior RPG experience in exchange for better action gameplay, you should enjoy it.
  5. I'm going to lock this thread because we already have basically the same thread in the PlayStation sub-forum, but suffice to say too little is known about exactly how backwards compatibility on PS5 is going to work right now (well, at least I can't find anything conclusive on it) but hopefully we'll learn more before the console comes out. In the meantime, let's move the discussion onto the other thread.

  7. This is why if you want to prove a point, you do your own legwork instead of just linking a search page. The very first article in that list (BTW, that search is titled "games influencing child behaviour", which isn't really the point of the conversation) was written by one Christopher Freguson, a phycologist and professor from Stetson University, who is actually critical of the idea that there's a direct link between video games violent behaviour. That is much like every other expert and legitimate study I've ever looked up that have found no conclusive proof that such a thing is real, like this one, for example. Besides, I don't need a study or an expert's word to know your wrong and what that you said makes no sense. Entertainment media is not a tool to sculpt a society like you say it is. If it was, it wouldn't divide option like it does, especially these days. Entertainment media is a reflection of a society, a reflection of reality and it's society that influences and inspires that media, not the other way round. It's media that has to keep up with society to remain relevant and relatable. Yes, propaganda is a thing and a creator's personal beliefs will often be reflected in their work, but not always. Even if they do try, somebody trying to influence an audience through entertainment media and actually succeeding are very different things, especially with regard to the specific, extreme and not to mention sheer scale of success that you're suggesting is possible. People are just not that stupid (OK, most of them aren't that stupid) and tend to have a greater sense of independent thinking and faith in what they already believe in to be manipulated that easily even if they are wrong, It just doesn't work like that. Even propaganda still has to convince people to be effective, something that is harder to do now that it's ever been. I agree, entertainment media should make you think, make you feel and hopefully even inspire, but prompting an emotional and/or thoughtful reaction is not the same thing as manipulating people's thoughts, beliefs and certainly not physical actions or omissions in the real world. It's people themselves that are responsible for that, or in the case of children, their parents. Like I said earlier, it takes a pre-existing phycological issue to be influenced like that by entertainment media.
  8. I actually watched this after you posted "The Legend of Karen" videos, brilliant stuff yet again.
  9. Sadly, I expected this. This is just what was always likely with the release of a new console generation, especially this year. I'm actually willing to offer these retailers a litte credit, at least they're being honest about these difficulties rather than leaving their customers either in limbo or with false hope.
  10. I have an ASUS TUF gaming laptop and the software to control the RGB keyboard was NOT installed by default. I never bothered to check before because I was happy enough with the default setting, but having looked at this thread I got curious and I had to install said software myself. The software I downloaded for my laptop is Aura Core, whereas I think that the software @Crazycrab recommended is actually for PC's to sync multiple RGB devices together rather than an in-built keyboard, but it can't hurt to try it anyway. EDIT. Scrub what I said, Aura Core doesn't work. Try the software @Crazycrab suggested instead.
  11. If so, can you provide links? Because I see some real proof, and with all due respect to both yourself and @Reality vs Adventure, I will always see the claim the entertainment media can influence an individuals' actions to such a specific and extreme level as ridiculous. To me, that's nothing but a scapegoat for governments to use because they don't want to address the real problems that lead to human malice and what provides the tools for people to commit violent acts. It's the same kind of idiocy often accosted with PETA and the way the attack, for example, hunting mechanics in video game. I remember when Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag came out and PETA were trying to get the game banned because there was whaling mechanics in it, and they seemed to believe this would influence kids into killing whales in real life. The theme and form are slightly different, but both the idea the PETA put forward and the idea that violence in video games leads to violence in real life stem from the stupid idea. Just because somebody from PETA can't psychologically detach the killing of a pixilated whale from the real thing doesn't the rest of us are that stupid, and it the same with media violence. Nobody is that easily influenced unless there is something wrong in terms of said individual's metal health that leads to a detachment from reality. I can live in the fantasy and in the reality and know the bloody difference, that's why I've been enjoying video games for 30 years and never felt compelled to act out any violent fantasy, and we all have them, it's only natural. On the contrary, I feel violent media, video games especially as it's a role-play, I believe is a safe outlet for the violent fantasies that, again admit it or not, is simply part of our phycological makeup as we are evolved predators. If one can't discern the difference between violent fantasy and violent reality, that's an issue of their own. It's not the fault of any game, movie, piece of music or book if they act on it.
  12. It appears I can enter the contest because the online form is not accepting my UK postal code. Oh, well...
  13. The fact that author didn't include Flower, but did include Super Hot is proof enough for me he has no clue what he's on about.
  14. @Crazycrab did not deny anything outrageous, he denied something that was ludicrous. I said something similar in another thread, life is not that hard. There are things that happen and that don't happen that can be easily explained without some needlessly complicated political conspiracy. I don't know why you feel the need to do so, but for your own sake you have to stop reeding into things and twisting them around to fit that pattern.
  15. LG are without doubt a critical company when it comes to monitor tech. This model is of little surprise as a result, a great place to look for a current 4K build.
  16. There is space combat (Obviously a promised launch feature that didn't actually make its way into the game for over a year) and there're hostile animals and/or sentient beings on some the procedurally generated planets (again, another thing that didn't work as promised until after the game came out). Honestly, this is not a game to buy for its combat even at its best, it is mostly about exploration.
  17. I'm sceptical about this. Graphically, it looks overbearing with an overly intense colour palate and the mechanics look a bit too "be different for the sake of being different" if you know what I mean. They are creative, I won't deny that, but sometime being creative overshadows common sense. There's good reasons nobody ever used a bow as a persistent movement mechanic. It'd be cool for about 5 minutes and then make no sense at all. The combat looks like some kind of pre-scripted, on-the-rails type of deal and whilst it may look left field and creative, you don't design an open world game without a map. Story? Well, I think they got the name wrong. It's not "The Pathless", it's "The Goalless". The less than subtle environmental message is unoriginal and not a huge incentive to play this game for any length of time. I have nothing against pro environmental messages in fictional media, but I like the more subtle, clever approach to it, like Avatar: The Last Airbender. This feels like the more the "shove it in your face", Captain Planet Approach. Sorry, but I just don't feel this.
  18. Consider yourself lucky @Reality vs Adventure. In 2016 No Man's Sky released as one of the most hyped games in recent memory, but was a disastrous disappointment. Buggy (especially on PC), barely functional, lacking in just about every promised feature and was clearly promoted with absolute lies. Even when it worked, it was a boring, tedious game was fussy, annoying mechanics and floaty controls. Now, to the developer's credit, whereas most would have jumped that sinking ship, they worked hard in the following months, and even years, to deliver the game they promised, but that doesn't excuse bringing out this half cooked bun that was supposed to be delicious turkey. Still, it's been four years and now when asked the question "Is the game what was promised now?" Hello Games can proudly say "We're closer than ever before!". Hello Games were (and still are) a small studio employing only a handful of people, but the game came out at full AAA price so should have met some standard and no game studio, big or small, has the right to lie about the quality and nature of a game to help it sell. I know I sound like a bit of a dick, but I just don't think that releasing a game this unfinished without excuse should be forgiven that easily.
  19. If you ask me, people need to take off their tin foil hats, take their paranoia medication and see that not everything, in reality almost nothing, that happens in the world needs a complicated conspiracy to explain it. I'm no fan of China, don't get me wrong and Tencent is a horrible company, but the worst they want to do to you is rip you off. I have a Huawei Phone and a Huawei Tablet and the only complaint I have is the constant badgering to buy more cloud data for back-ups. It's also very hypocritical for the west to be so critical imo because we depend on China a lot more than most of us care to admit. Look around your house and check how many things in it have "Made in China" written on them, but you won't smash any of it, and these people will obviously still play Fortnight and buy games from Epic. Even the UK's Ministry of Defence was happy enough to involve China in its largest warship construction in history. Take at look at this crane that was vital in the assembly process of the QEC class aircraft carriers and take one guess where it was built. End the paranoia. Even if the worst case scenario is real, it still isn't worse than what are people doing to themselves. It's stupid, paranoid, hypocritical, archaic and maybe even a little racist. World, just stop it. EDIT: Now that I look at it, this is more of a ploitical topic than a gaming one, so I'm going to move the tpoic to the appropriate section.
  20. Best of luck with that. That would be a real jewel in any collection.
  21. Again, according to the article, Sony said the implied possibility within the announcement of the game coming to other platforms "was in error", and this press release from Square Enix makes no mention of the gaming to PC or any other platform other that the PS5. Still, I don't take what these companies say at face value and I think you and @Crazycrabare right, and believe this game will find its way to PC at some point.
  22. Dinne try ti type Scot. Evin a canne dae that withoot lookin like a right bawbag.
  23. What Americans call "Soccer" is football, you know, the game/sport where actually use your feet to control a ball! The really amusing part though is how America, a nation that takes such pride in its virility, feel the need to put on 40lbs of protective gear to play rugby.
  24. I did check before I posted, and this is the article form laptopmag.com that reports Sony has confirmed this isn't coming to PC. It is possible it might come to PC later, but as it stands this is a PS5 exclusive.
  25. It is always an exiting time for JRPG fans when the granddaddy of them all, Final Fantasy, gets a new chapter. No idea at this point when the game will be released, but I suspect we've still got a long wait ahead of us. What we do know is that it will be a PS5 exclusive and this cinematic trailer does suggest something dark and daunting, and that's fine with me. So, what are your thoughts?
