  1. They cancelled First Kill? Well, that's disappointing. I watched that and thought it was pretty good. I t seams like Netflix expects everything to be Stanger Things in terms of success, and it it isn't it get's axed.
  2. When the music in a movie or TV is doing what it's supposed to do, odds are you won't really notice it. It's mean to help create the atmosphere and ambiance of the setting and story.

    Xbox In Japan

You have pretty much covered it there to the point I don't really have much to add. Between Sony and Nintendo, two home bread companies that know the demographic well, they get what they're looking for out of games without having to look much further. I know japan is comparatively slow to embrace new consoles, so that combined with Microsoft's focus on digital distribution won't help them in Japan either given what you said about the quality of internet in Japan. Mostly though, it does come down to games I think the kind of exclusives Xbox offer, it's just not the sort of things that have mass appeal in Japan I think.
  4. No, check the topic. Nobody said this was made by CDPR. The trailer is concept trailer made by PUBG developer Krafton for an upcoming game that plan to make based on a series of Korean novels. I (and others) have compared this to The Witcher and CDPR because what Krafton are planning here is essentially the same thing as what CDPR did for The Witcher. Bring an acclaimed novel series that isn't really known outside of its country of origin and turn it into an international IP. The pretty pictures and video clips are nice, but the words in between are important as well.
  5. The way you have conducted yourself so far is fine, so if you just keep doing what you do and it will be OK. What we were discussing here is people firing in a mass a low effort, pointless posts just to add to their post tallies. There was a point where a lot of people were pretty much hijacking threads to use as there own personal text chain instead of engaging in the structured discussion that's meant to happen on a forum. It was hurting the forum because people were getting there post buried by people post one sentence replies from others who didn't care about staying on topic, the legibility of their posts, the purpose or what their posts added. the only thing that mattered was that it was a post, something to add to the tally. If you browse the forum, find a topic of interest, give it a read then if you have something to add, an opinion to express or a question to ask in relation to that topic, post a reply. If there is is topic you want to talk about not being discussed, start a new thread about it in the appropriate sub-forum. That is it these people were doing, they were just moving down the threads one by one to make a pointless post with thought or purpose put into it then onto the next one.
  6. What are you talking about? There's no doubt the leaks were real at this point, Take Two and Rockstar pretty much confirmed it themselves. Why would Take Two Take take legal action against a leek source that wasn't real?
  7. Silent Hill fans may be worse that Rockstar fans when it comes to diving head first into false optimisum. Being passionate and getting excited by new announcements is fine, but FFS use a little common sense. Look at sources and examine the details before jumping to conclusions, it's not difficult.
  8. Mechanics that allow you to redistribute and remake your character are great, but not nearly as common as they should be. You could do it in Kingdoms of Amalur at the cost of gold that increases each time you do so, but off the top of my head I can't think of another. What other games allow for this that you've played?
  9. Heard about this a while ago then it just flew completely off my radar. It's different, like DOOM meets survival horror. The graphics themselves don't look that great, but the grim, gory art style with that dreary ambiance and daunting atmosphere make up for it. It feels like the sort of thing where this protagonist suffers through horrendous dangers and turmoil to get to the end only to find nothing better and, well, life sucks.
  10. We point a TV remote at the Dragon and turn the "SAP" button off and ask "Can you repeat that, please?".
  11. I hear you @Yaramaki. I to take much more pride in having my posts read and apricated rather than the sheer number I post, but the point I think @Techno was making, and he is right, is the the points system in essence rewards people for posting in quantity rather than quality. That could be considered a problem and what may have lead to the "post farming" problem in the first place.
  12. Krafton are in the very early stages of developing a a dark fantasy epic based upon "The Bird That Drinks Tears" and essentially do for this novel series what CDPR did for The Witcher, turn an acclaimed, but only locally successful, book series into an international IP through video games. The as yet untiled project under the working title "Project Windless" does now have a concept trailer running in-engine (Unreal Engine 5) that you can see below. I actually head about this via the man who is the VA for the main protagonist in this trailer. A lot of you know him as YouTube video games pundit and commentator YongYea and he announced his involvement on his channel. Find that video below. Hiring a popular youtuber as a voice actor didn't exactly hurt Final Fantasy VII Re-Make, so why not. He's really good in the trailer and I hope this becomes a more permanent role when the game goes further into it's development. Anyway, onto the trailer itself. This does give off some very dark, but intriguing vibes. It does feel a lot like a darker version of The Witcher. I'm a little unsure about the developer, though. Let me put it this way, Krafton are no CDPR. I never rated PUBG that much as a game and they have been guilty of some shady shit in the past for me, like how long they kept that game in so-called "beta" whilst raking in a fortune on microtransactions. Not to mention that PUBG was mostly made up of pre-built assets , so I question if Krafton can pull this off, but I wish them the best for this as it does look promising. For more info, check out these articles from The Verge and PCGamesn.
  13. To me, if it is even possible to level your character up in such a way that they feel weak, then it's a sigh that the game (or at least the levelling system) isn't very good. It should be possible to make it work with any kind of build within the boundaries of the game with, obviously, employing the correct play style and tactics. So in answer to the OP's question I suppose that's answer, adopt and experiment with other play styles and tactics, but if a game is more rewarding to one kind of build or play style over another, that's a sign of a problem. The Elder Scrolls games are bad for this. I remember myself and @Crazycrab posting on what was one of your topics on Oblivion ages ago @StaceyPowers talking about how the levelling system in that game was so messed up it could weaken you compared to the enemies in the game if one got it wrong. I've linked the thread in question, so I won't go into such detail again, but I did mention Skyrim's system was much better. It's true, it is, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have it's own problems. Weapon skills, blacksmithing and enchanting, those are the key to being powerful in combat in Skyrim. Do it any other way, and you're doing it wrong. One can become so overpowered so easily. Forget about using magic in combat especially, you simply can't do even close to the same amount of damage. Ironically though, in the higher levellers, the mages you fight against in Skyrim are deadly, even when wearing armour with some serious magic defences enchanted in, the whole magic system in the game is horribly balanced.
  14. Does the reward system as it is reward people do what has been referred t as "post farming"? I admit, the answer is yes. However, if I have thought of a better system, I would have pushed for it and I thought a lot about this, especially over this past year and I have come to the conclusion that there is no system that won't invite abuse. Ideally, we'd reward people posting in quality as well as quality, but how to work that in? We can't rewards points for "likes" and reactions on posts because, like I said, that will invite abuse in the form of people "tag-team" liking posts. People would also post more posts with purpose to have thier partner "like", so it's a double dose of problems. Honestly, the best thing I can think of is what were doing now. Rewarding people being active with points for posts and new threads whilst policing the forum to prevent this "post farming". That's why we have come down so hard on this kind of activity in recent months. I'm not saying it's perfect, there may not even be a perfect system, but it can work. The idea having more options available to cash the points in on like a shop sounds interesting though. What sort of things could we sell there? Aesthetics for one's profile or something?
  15. I'm 37 and know what an Atari is, in fact the Atari 2600 was my first console, and I have no interest in NFT because I've looked into them and seen nothing but a con. A con that has, thankfully, already failed. The implication that the only reason people aren't investing in these bullshit is because they're ignorant of Atari is, quake frankly, insulting. People who don't invest in NFT's aren't stupid, and that's precisely why we don't.
  16. Can you all believe that there are people disappointed, even angry about how this leaked footage looked? How stupid would you have to be to look at this very early, pre-alpha footage from a game years away from completion and think that is how this game is actually going to look? Jim Sterling has gone into this with more detail, but what is wrong with gamers? I'm just glad nobody on VGR has expressed such stupidity. And obviously we still have the man-babies moaning about playing a woman, and it's apparently the rest of us who are "snowflakes" and "easily offended".
  17. I hate to bust your bubble, but all pro-wrestling is scripted, not just WWE. More importantly, since you clearly bumped this thread not actually discuss it's topic, I'm locking it. Im sure there are pro-wrestling threads in the sports section.
  18. Like I said and be fair to Sony, there has been advances in the interface with haptic feedback and eye tacking, so new games for PSVR2 do have to be built to work with those systems, but I still don't think that the older games couldn't have been made to work with the new PSVR. People would accept playing the PSVR1 games with some of the new features disabled and obviously not running at the same resolution.
  19. The excitement for PSVR2 has been marred somewhat by the announcement that PSVR2 will not be compatible with the original PSVR games. A full report from IGN. Now, I understand that there has been significant changes between the interface and control systems between the two generations of PSVR, but I still call bullshit on the claim that they can't make the original PSVR games work on this new system. For Sony, it's just another anti-consumer move in this generation.
  20. @NightmareFarm I I feel the need to point out that you can add multiple quotes to a single post, you don't need to make a new post for each one. You can do this by either hitting the "quote" function whilst you have an open reply text box to add the quote as the next item or by hitting the "+" button next to "quote" button to add replies to a list then paste them all at once into your reply.
  21. The same thing was true multiple times and for year after year before the game was even announced. None of it, of course, was real. At this point, I really couldn't care less even if these leaks were the real deal or not, we'll only what we need to learn when the game actually comes out.
  22. The game is not going to get an AO rating, anyone who has been paying attention to the topic would know that. I'm not sure what went wrong with the promotional material and trailers that shipped with the game's announcement, but it's becoming clear that one of two things have happened. Somebody made a mistake and showed the wrong rating logo in the trailer and the accompanying material. The ESRB did give the game an AO rating based on what they knew of the game initially and Ubisoft would then (obviously) make changes to the game to avoid that rating, but were unable to present these changes to the ESRB before the game's announcement. Either way, the AO rating is clearly not going to happen.
  23. Actually, when a game gets an Adults Only (AO) rating, most major digital storefronts including the Microsoft/Xbox store, PlayStation Store and the Nintendo eShop will not sell it. Steam will, but there's still a lot of red tape to get an AO rated game on there and it will have very limited exposer on the store itself and not be promoted or advertised like other games. So for a major AAA, multiplatform publisher like Ubisoft an AO rating for any of thier games, but especially a game from thier most important and successful franchise, is something to avoid at all costs.
  24. The canon in a video game (or any work of fiction) is what is considered and accepted as descriptions of the genuine events, locations and characters in that fictional world as opposed to something merely based on it or inspired from it. It's difference between something that's "made up" and something that's "real" in a fictional universe if that makes sense. For example, Sarah's death in The Last of Us is canon, but if somebody was to create a work of fiction telling an alternate story where she survived, that would be non-canon.
  25. No human being will ever say something this awesome. From the video around 9:22: "One of the saddest parts of The Last Of Us is that Ellie can't whistle. Whistling can be useful. It can help you communicate when you can't speak, it can help you start a fire or help you ward off pesky bugs. Whistling is a sign of a true adult ,and when you whistle, puberty is not far behind."
