I see the point if you wanted to "upgrade" to a better device, but the OP was talking changing a controller for purely aesthetic reasons.  It's fine if you wanna do that but I just think it's odd.

I guess I think of peripherals like gaming controllers as a purely functional things and don't really care that much for aesthetics.  I suppose some do and that's fine, it's just not me.

Yes, some of my posts are generic. But you you actually think pros would use a platform like this and make thoughtful comment. Most of us here are doing generic commenting. When I make generic comments, I don't at least quote someone's post.
PS: I wrote this post before the last post, so I need to edit.
I also feel that the discussion on getting bored with controller seems little weird when you are discussing about game.

After working in IT, I realized a lot of PC gamers aren’t really that knowledgeable in computers, but act like they’re computer geniuses. They’re pretty clueless on computer stuff outside of gaming, because they tend to hunk that if something isn’t catered to gaming, it’s useless.

Crazycrab got a reaction from Heatman in People will get used to NFTs - Ubisoft CEO
The only people that have any interest in NFT'S are those who want to sell them on for profit, therein lies the problem.  Nobody really wants these stupid things so they have no real value, hence their tanking big time.  Think about it, if they were a good investment why is everyone trying desperately to sell them when their value has sunk to the bottom of the barrel?  Now would be best time to buy and hold onto them right?  WRONG!  Their pushing them on because they know that's the only they could possibly get anything back on their investment, NFT's are done!

This is before we address the other issue of vulnerable these scams are to other scams.  Look what just happened to Seth Green.  His Bored Ape NFT was stolen from right under his nose and he just had to fork out another $300,000 to get it back or he would risk loosing the rights to use it in a TV show he's producing (LINK).

I got zero sympathy for him or anyone else who's lost out to these scams because we've been warning them for months.

We just got some interesting information about the Horizon Netflix Series.  It actually going to be set in 2047 hence it's title, Horizon 2047.

    https://comicbook.com/gaming/amp/news/horizon-zero-dawn-netflix-tv-series-report/

This is interesting because not only does it mean that it's it set about 1000 years before the events of Horizon Zero Dawn, but looking at the timeline, It's about 17 years before the Faro Plague, Operation Enduring Victory and the Zero Dawn Project.

2047 is just before Elisabet Sobeck leaves Faro Automated Systems after their switch from Green Robotics to Military Systems, so my guess is the show's focus is starting from there then moving through to the events of Faro Plague?  There doesn't seem to be much happening at the point that's directly relevant to the events of the games.

Crazycrab got a reaction from Jasmin in Elden ring could be plalyed on mobile
If I unintentionally eluded that you could purchase Elden Ring (or any game for that matter) on Steam then play it on mobile I apologize.  I feel the need before anyone spends the money on it and feels like they have been mislead to make it clear....  THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS!

You can't play games on a steam library directly on your phone itself.  Steam link is service that streams titles that are installed on a PC to other devices like Phones, Tablets Smart TV's and other computers.  It's similar to the Remote Play Feature on PlayStation that allows you to play games installed on you console on the Vita.  It needs to have a physical machine with the game installed and connected to the same local network or internet in order to function.  I've not used it myself but from what I understand it's far from a perfect solution.  If you want to use it via the internet you need to keep your PC running while your out and even via LAN the latency is reportedly worse than Stadia's.

If you want to play PC games on the go the I'd say the Steam Deck (or something similar) or a gaming Laptop would be a better solution.

Its through a streaming app basically, you are running the game on your PC and you can stream the screen on your phone, you can do the same thing with a ps4. Its doable but the frame rate is not the best and there is a lot of lag

Crazycrab got a reaction from killamch89 in Save points >>> Menu saving in my opinion
I get your point about having this kind of system adding suspense.  Being able to save whenever you want does remove a lot of that tension since loosing really has little to no consequence.  So I agree that it's not good to let a save anytime and anywhere they want with no restrictions.

With that being said, the more traditional save point system did used to really drive me nuts back in the day when I was playing some of the older Final Fantasy games.  I could loose 10 minutes or more of progress not because I got a fail state, but I because had to stop playing to go to work, school or run some other errand and didn't have time to go back to a save point.

I think the best system is the one in Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West.  You need to get to a campfire to manually save like in those older games but:
It autosaves as well. You can fast travel. A campfire is never more than a few minutes away. As a player you should only be at risk of failure, not of having to stop.

Obvious answer would be assasins creed since everithing historic is neatly explained in a database well in the first few games. Not really sure how many people bothered with this but in the first few games i learned quite a bit about the italian renaissance ( that i forgot mostly in the maintime )
Gran turismo always did a great job in telling car history, as far as game it's also a car encyclopedia.
Maybe a more obscure one but both Endless ocean games on the wii, while gameplay wise there isen't a whole lot to it, you can explore the depts of the sea at your own pace as it simulates fish and other sea life accuratly, once you discover a new life form you can learn more about the fish you just discovered, i'm not sure how many people even played this but from what i remember it's quite a relaxing experience.
But anyways you could pretty much list any game here that has deep choices to make and will make you think twice before you take action. Maybe not as educational as one thinks but imo some moral choices learn from them and take with you in real life.

Crazycrab got a reaction from Clasher in who else can't wait for blood Bourne 2 to be released?
Well that's not good marketing strategy.  You might have  no problem buying two full price games at the same time but lots of other people would.  They would obviously want to their customer base to buy both titles but if they released around the same time most would only buy one, literally shooting themselves in foot.

In this particular situation with Elden Ring and Bloodborne 2 this situation would actually be even worse.  Although it was developed by From Software, a third party developer that Sony don't own, the Bloodborne IP is actually owned by Sony.  So on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being rage quit and 10 being orchestrated mass extinction.  How pissed would Sony if they found out a developer that they are working with on a major exclusive were releasing another game in same genre with another publisher to be released within the same year?  I'm thinking maybe a...... 7?

Even if it were plausible releasing Bloodborne 2 this year would be terrible idea.  Even if it on the cards it might not necessarily be From Software that are making it.  Sony might contact someone else like Bluepoint Games, the same team behind the Demon's Remake instead.  You really need get of this horse until we something definitive.

You completely butchered the guy and I get the reason why you had to do that. It's not nice when one tries to make you accept something that you aren't good with but at the same time disagree with your own opinion which is based on your feelings towards something. That's totally wrong. No one knows exactly what's fun to you but you only.

First of all, I don't care what anyone says, Murder She Wrote kicks ass! Secondly your the one that's completely wrong here.  Thirdly you can cut that "I'm right and yer wrong lol" crap or we are gonna have a problem!  That attitude is completely uncalled for.

You seem to be associating the term "fun" exclusively with the laughing and smiling type of experience, but that's not the only way people have "fun".  Enjoyable experiences also come from being aroused, surprised, intellectually stimulated and winning.  Even negative stimulation like sorrow, shock, terror and sometimes even pain.  Why else would people enjoy horror movies, bungie jumping, crying at opera's and BDSM.

But no, it's seems that in gaming the only way to have fun is you narrow definition of "what causes smiles and laughs" and "fun itself is not subjective".  Are you for real?  If that were true we wouldn't even be having this discussion because we would all the be playing the same games doing the same thing.

I'll be honest here, your version of "perfect fun":

Sounds stressful as fuck to me!  Continuous sensory load with no breaks with non stop smiling and laughing?  I'd think I'd have a heart attack!  But that's fine, you do you.  I don't see why you feel the need to jump down other people because they find some something dramatic like The last of Us "fun", or least not your kind of fun.

I'm genuinely baffled at the idea you seem fun isn't subjective.  That is so academically incorrect and I know you're smart.  You even mentioned in your post "you could say my interpretation of fun is subjective" so I don't see what kind of message your trying to get across here.
  25. Thanks
Crazycrab got a reaction from kingpotato in What is perfect fun gameplay? No sports
"Perfect fun gameplay" isn't something you nail down to any particular formula, just like @Dannyjax said it's subjective.  I could say the turn based system in Final Fantasy X is perfect and the best gameplay I've experienced that uses that system.  I could also say Metal Gear Solid 3 has the perfect tactical/stealth gameplay, or that Life is Strange has the best mechanics of any interactive narrative type of experience.  Not only are these games are completely different but at the end of the day they are all subjective opinions rather than provable facts.

So with all due respect @Reality vs Adventure, I'm really not sure where you're trying to go with this and I doesn't seem like a particularly productive conversation to me.  We've already started to see this lack of productive conversation with this:

How can say that @kingpotato is wrong?  If he thinks that Skyrim, God of War or The Last of Us have the most fun gameplay then that's just how he feels.  You can't define what somebody else considers to be "Fun". It's like me telling you that you don't like Broccoli, what the fuck do I know!  It's all subjective.
