I've written 2 full length novels, several short stories, and a hell of a lot of unconventional poetry.
That said, I can offer some advice. I assume you're writing fiction?
The first sentence of every story is always the hardest. After that let the story write itself. Never force it. You have to have that itch to get back to writing it. But before you get too far you need to think about a few things.
    1) Is it a narrative?
    2) Are the characters relatable?
    3) What kind of conflict will they be dealing with?
    4) Is it told through eyes of a certain character?
    5) Have you written a description of all the characters yet?
    6) Do you know where you want to go with the story? Have you thought about the beginning, middle, and end separately so you know what you want to tell the reader?
    7) Is it engaging enough to keep a person reading?
8.) Can you describe what your story is about to someone who asks?
    9) Are you writing just as a hobby, or are you thinking about publishing?
    10) Can YOU relate to your characters? For example in my first book, the main character was based off of me. We share a lot of the same attitude and view of the world. The only difference is that my character in that story is male, and I'm female.

If you need more just ask and I'll help as much as I can. As a note to what @Withywarlock said, one of my books is currently on its 8th draft ans the other is on its 7th. More drafts will follow. Until it's perfect in my eyes, it will keep getting edits and rewrites. So don't get discouraged if you go to 7, 8, or 100 drafts. If you don't like it where it is, no one else will either.

So I was typing up a story earlier this year, and after a revise of it I managed to get to two chapters. I'm thinking of going back to it but wanted to hear some advice before I start again. So does anyone have wisdom on this or should I go somewhere else?

I've been in one accident. It was not my fault and I suffered a concussion. I made a full recovery but it took some time and various therapies. I am a very cautious driver and fortunately have had good luck on the roads.

I'll throw Batman Beyond for the PS1 in the mix as a contender. It's been years since I've played it and I still remember it as absolutely awful.

I had no idea rollercoaster tycoon was still around but oh man, i remember soaking hours on end on rollcoaster tycoon 1 and 2 back in the day on my dad his computer, shame to see what once was such a great franchise to be in such dire state like this and probably being milked dry for all that they possibly can.

    Actually a great topic,
I feel gaming can build a great adult depending on what games you get involved in at an early age. If it wasn't for games I def wouldn't be who I am or where I am today and  I will surely throw my children into MMORPGS and single player Sim style/age of empire games from an early age.
Ofc they will have books and documentaries thrown down their throats too. < edit changed "though" to "too"

You're editing your work, meaning you're conscious of problems with it and show a desire to improve your art. That's good, but I'd recommend you just try and write what you can before you edit it. You're not going to perfect your first draft even with edits; there will be more drafts in future which might take your fancy, and you'll want to chop and change them for the final product (before that sees an editor, should you go down that route.) I know doing drafts is a pain, believe me, I've done countless drafts of the same concept for over 15 years, but don't let that put you off your own work.
Keep at it. Don't force yourself, but psych yourself up for a set time and at that time you will write, and you will stick at it until whatever time you previously said you would. In the meantime, read more. Whoever your inspiration is, whatever kind of work you're looking at, read similar works to get ideas and the noggin joggin'. Listen to interviews, read articles, understand the material which inspires your work. It's a lot easier to write about what you know and understand.
There are other, better forums out there to discuss this, of that I'm sure. I don't engage in them myself, but you'll undoubtedly have better luck there than here. In the meantime, if you can tell us more about the problems you're facing or what improvements you want to make, I and I'm sure other readers here will do our best to help out.
    Good luck!

    Hiya Guys ^.^,
It's been an awesome time here on VGR so far and want to say thank you for being kind ,welcoming as well all the great content and conversations.
So long story short I've been making Empire Of Sight for almost a year now, I started with just a concept and zero experience in terms of creating , layering, or in general making a game by hand. I've been involved in gaming since I was young and even ran a few businesses revolving around the gaming industry. I started this project December 2021 as a game for a community that I was apart of and happened to have a friend I had met who was a fullstack developer as well really passionate about wanting to create something he could own a part of.
We both started with almost zero skills in regards to development but we've kept running and have finally gotten to a point where we are about to release our "Prototype" of the game. We've already run the beta stages and decided to make the prototype much easier to level/higher damage than the Main Game we will launch in November but its still a fun little way to get to know the games "concept" as well a way to get some cool items in "NFT" form that you'll be able to use in the Main Game.
I played a few P2E games last year and seen that they were all pretty rough in the terms of Web3 as well Web2 designs.. They all missed the mark by either being "just print money" or without any real "game" at its core so I started my grind in the hopes of producing a fun game for a lot of my friends and close community members who wanted to be able to own their assets / transfer them to future games in the blockchain form as well sell to others if anyone would want them of course 😄
Empire Of Sight is not a "mint to earn game" it's a monthly subscription based MMORPG with no promises of earned income or fancy pie charts, it's just my take on what I see Web3 being while using Web2 or as Id like to say the games we grew up on no matter what console it was. I'm not sure what to expect long term with the games I'm making but I really enjoy it and see a potential in the future for games like this even if they aren't going to have 30million players. I would be happy to even get 500 people online with a community of people who like to larp around and kill monsters, craft, use alchemy, cook and mine XD
The game itself is a 2D MMORPG built around ERC-1155 Technology, the prototype will be around 5-10% of the content and map size of the main game. The main game will have thousands of hours of gameplay and tons of updates in the future. Empire Of Sight also has the ability to create, join a guild or party. You will have a friends list , chat box in game, the ability to trade, buy and sell your items with NPCs as well players.
I plan to use the same style of combat system as OldSchool Runescape as well a blend of Path of Exiles/Wow in the terms of way you play the game. Right now the level player cap will be 100 but the highest monster level in the main game will only be 83 for now as I want to leave room for expansions.
I'll just leave a trailer here for now and the website link, you can't currently buy membership as we are finishing up some things but you can look at the website even though I'll be changing some content on it as the goals have changed in a few ways so the content wont be 100% accurate at the moment.
Feel free to chat about it as I would love feedback, ideas, and some criticism from you guys ❤️ It was my first time ever editing a video so be gentle on me XDDD. I'll be making another one closer to Sep 3rd when we release the prototype live for people to play!
    Here's the trailer link:

I plan to edit this thread as the game develops / changes are made and I may even remove some of the text above depending on how everything goes.
Thanks again guys for making me feel comfortable here on VGR ^.^

    On Topic

    The  Outlast Trials
Most definitely The dud for me. Spin-offs of horror/survival games never turn out well, so I have no faith in thIS whatsoever.

    Dead Island 2
Not really my sort sort of thing, but it does look quite good for what it is. I'll keep an eye on that one.

    Dune
That short cinematic didn't really tell us anything, but i feel movie licenced games are at least taken seriously enough that we see something quite good out of it in the end, but I'm gonna keep my expectations low.

    Where Winds Meet
If this isn't quite as close to an AC rip of as it looks in this trailer, then it has real potential. One thing for certain is it needs some serious work and polish as the graphics were a bit muddy and the game was very choppy in that trailer. Hopefully, in the final game those issues will be addressed.

    Lies of P
As a storytelling experience, possibly the most promising game I've seen so far from Gamescom. The world is cool, very steampunk in it's aesthetics, but I am a little concerned that combat and action might not be up to snuff. If it is, then this has real potential.

    Atlas Fallen
By far the most promising game I've seen from Gamescom so far. I'm getting Horizon Zero Dawn/ Forbidden West crossed with Platinum games style action vibes. The art style was striking, the combat looked empowering and the set up for the story looked very interesting and I already want to know more about that world. The team behind Dune must feel a little shat on with this game announced with such a good trailer at the same show. Trust me, this is the one to watch out for, I promise you.

It's quite possible to discuss these individual games on the Gamescom thread as well. This just makes it easier for everyone to see what was revealed at Gamescom without having to move in and out of individual topics. If it's OK, I would to do my job and make a decision for the the forum without getting talked back if you don't mind. We can look at individual topics for these games as the release dates, new trailers and so on get revealed.
