I'm not a fan of badges. It is a form of class system. You have the privileged class with their badges, and you have the plebs with no badges.

For one he doesn't understand the idea of "playing for fun" and views it with contempt. He thinks that people should play for profits, so he wants gamers to be like wow gold farmers.
Then he thinks modding is bad because there are no financial incentives involved. Never mind that bethesda has been obliterated when they tried to implement a pay for mods system. Modding is great because modders make things they think would be nice to have in games, not things they think they can make a quick buck off of.

If you read the whole brainfart you realize this is basically his evil manifesto. It is so bad on so many levels besides NFTs that only an international supervillain could've come up with it.

If you read my review I actually praise the graphics and technical aspects of the game, it is the re-writing of the story and dialogue and changes to characters that is the disservice to the original.
If you never played the original you probably won't pick up on any of it, as you are not aware of the 'definitive' version.

I'm actually fine with that, I think graphics quality is at the level where we don't really need FMV anymore. And using only motion capture frees up creativity, and you are not constricted by how the actor looks like, of course you still have to get someone who matches your character in  broad strokes, but if necessary you can use different actors for animating for the face and the body.

I have never had any issues with CDKeys ever since I have been making use of it for years. There is no way I would compare them with G2A.

m76 got a reaction from Withywarlock in What makes a good video game trailer or teaser?
A teaser trailer should sell the idea of the game. It has to be intriguing,it does not need to show anything about the game itself, it's job is to be memorable and to create an atmosphere that sucks you in.

m76 got a reaction from DC in What animal would be most interesting to play in a video game?
Beavers, because you can build dams.
If you go looking for it there are games made for almost any kind of animal you can think of. Some better, some worse.

m76 got a reaction from StaceyPowers in Are video games becoming too cinematic?
I have no problem with a cinematic experience in games, in fact I prefer to have long and deep cutscenes.
What you describe however is when the game randomly takes control out of the player's hands for a minute then suddenly releases it. I hate when they do that too. The line between gameplay and cinematic should be clear and defined. The worst offenders are games where the cinematic starts to play and during these I usually relax and release the controls, then BAM suddenly a QTE is on the screen.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I wish AC just forgot the present completely and just be period pieces set in various times through history. I never liked the original AC games, the first one I liked was Odyssey which was the third I played after AC 1 and 2.

In terms of what GTA V offered, it felt like it was going backwards. GTA IV seemed to have more features and things going for it in the single player side at least. There was a video years ago about how GTA V got rid of a lot of things GTA IV did good, or even better. I'm not saying GTA V is a bad game by any means. I just don't view it as the best game of all time.
I think if you have to pick the best out of the bunch, the all around best game would probably be San Andreas. Just for how much it has going for it. It was kinda ahead of its time if you think about it. But, I still find Vice City to be one of my all time favorites because of its story and setting alone.
But, I respect your choice, because it is a good game. Just not something I'd view as anywhere near the best of all time. But that's my opinion.

m76 reacted to Kane99 in Games should offer more character creation options and not charge us extra for it
Back in the day when character creators rocked, you could be really creative with your designs. Why can't games make a character creator like that of a pro wrestling game? Just look at the amount of wrestling games, they allowed you to make a character anyway you wanted to, and I don't get why other studios can't jump onto that idea. Like, make it so we can make ourselves as we see ourselves. I just want to make a fat, playable character of myself. That's why I wished RDR2 had a character creator that allowed for me to be chunkier, or have so many more options.
And that brings up another point, you have to pay for customization options in some online games. Not real money necessarily, but you have to work hard in the game just to make enough to buy a few clothing items and such.
But, lets just talk about single player games that have character creators. Most of them are very limited with what you do. Madden for example, is a game that has some of the weakest character creators. There's no depth to it. But NBA 2K has one of the best character creators around, at least in terms of sports games. At least here you can make your guy fat, skinny, tall, etc. But Madden limits you so much, at least when it comes to franchise. I don't want to touch the story mode as I hear those games have awful story modes lol.
But yeah, I think you get my point. I just want more customization for characters, mostly in single player games, but I too would love to make myself in an online game, without any limitations of having to buy it with points. Just give us enough to customize our "looks" and you can charge us for the clothing and all that nonsense.

m76 got a reaction from Reality vs Adventure in Should people be allowed to do potentially harmful things?
I'm all for more healthy eating, but it can't be achieved by banning stuff. People don't eat food that is less healthy necessarily because they want to, but because that's all they can afford, if they can afford anything at all.
If I go to the supermarket, the regular non-healthy products always cost half or less than anything healthy. And it's not because it costs that much more to make the healthy food, in some cases it is actually cheaper.
So if the government wants people to eat healthy they should force companies to not upsell the better food. And people will automatically start buying that.
I always try to get food that has more healthy ingredients but more often than not it is too expensive, and I reluctantly settle for the one that contains processed sugar.

m76 got a reaction from Withywarlock in Do you love music more than gaming?
I can enjoy games without music, in fact in many games I turn off background music because it annoys me.
Music existed long before videogames, from the dawn of man, it is not something that can be uninvented. You tap your fingers on a desk and it creates a kind of tune, so it is literally impossible to imagine a world without music.

m76 got a reaction from Withywarlock in Think real gambling will come to gaming soon?
I think lootboxes are real gambling. The only difference is that with real gambling you have the chance however marginal to win a big prize. With lootboxes you ever loose, because even if you get what you wanted, it is a digital item that literally costs nothing to the company selling the lootboxes. So the dealer wins no matter what.

m76 got a reaction from Family sedan in I finally conceded, and have giving up on Resident Evil...
Resident Evil is one of those franchises that I tried getting into numerous times because the games attained such a cult status.
I felt like I was obliged to like them if I want to call myself a gamer, but each time I was rebuffed. I just did not enjoy them very much.
The first game I tried was RE2, and the only thing that offered me was tedium.  I remember my friends raving about it, and we always played it when they were over, but I loathed it.
When the RE2 remake came out I gave it another shot and got much further than I ever did in the original. I was at the point where I thought I finally will get out of the dreaded police station, only for the game to make me go back in through a back door. And the whole tedious wandering around looking for something to do started again. That was the point where I quit the game for good this time.
I even tried RE3 remake, but it was just more of the same, and somehow even worse. So I didn't waste much time on it. The only thing that kept me going for a while was the ability o mod the character's appearance, that is the reason I bought the game in the first place. I thought if the character looked like someone I identified with better that would be enough to keep me playing the game, but alas the tedium was unbearable especially so soon after playing RE2.
As for RE4,5,6 I only played one of them, I don't even remember which, maybe the fifth. It was a mediocre action game, so not something that would redeem the franchise in my eyes.
Recently everyone was raving about how good RE8 Village is, but I was skeptical. I did not want to pay full price for a game that I'd probably end up hating. So I asked around among the fans, how different is RE7 from RE8. They said the two games are very similar conceptually. So I got RE7 to test the waters. I had low expectations, but not low enough. The game blew me away with how awful it was. It is a golden sample of everything I don't want in videogames.
So without further ado, here is the original short rant I posted after first playing RE7: Biohazard

This might be the worst "game" I ever had the misfortune of playing. Undercutting Sniper GW3, maybe even outriders.

Yeah, game in quotes, because this hardly qualifies as a game. It's just a string of scripted events with boring walking in between.
Occasionally interrupted by tedious cat and mouse games with invulnerable, unkillable enemies.
Oh and of course the cheapest kind of jump scares, that only make me angry with their predictability.

I abandoned RE2/RE3 remakes because they were quite tedious, but compared to this, they are master artworks of gaming, as this cranks tedium to over 9000.

Not to mention the ludicrous, outlandish "story" that no amount of suspension of disbelief can make even remotely immersive.
The premise of zombies is one thing, as long as the law of physics still applies. But I can't stomach total nonsense like gluing your leg back, or invincible zombies.
Also the fact that you have to play out the video recordings, is like kryptonite to immersion.

I'm glad I only paid $5 for this. Man, if Village is anything like RE7, count me the f out.
