I think it was because it was a buggy mess that turned off most people. I only started to really enjoy it when I got mods to fix most of the bugs.

Agreed - playing horror games at night tends to really boost the immersion and your paranoia as the slightest unusual sound puts you on alert.

That's the simplest way I've deduced when it comes to getting video games. Also looking up for ways to slash the price a little bit down for yourself, is taking up what you've said. Which is going on checking for coupon codes, promo codes simply to get some discounts off the game purchase. Money is hard to get this days that's why I'm trying my best reducing the price a little bit to save some funds for next time shopping.

Yeah - it's something that happens to most gamers who have huge satisfaction issues with games. Then keep on getting and getting when it's getting impossible to complete it all.

Yeah, agreed, FIFA, other sports games, quick match games like Destiny or doing a level or two in Captain Toad Treasure Tracker!  All good for short sessions!

The Saturn came out in 1996, I believe, so it's very much a console of the past.  It was well ahead of its' time, but it was so poorly marketed and support from third party developers was next to non-existent, so it failed outside of Japan pretty quickly.  In Japan it lived on for a good 10 years, had some amazing games developed for it, as well!

Yeah, it's been the same on the Xbox side, as well.  The games they release are good for short periods to get your interest back up, and then they go back to mediocre games that aren't that fun to play.  Still have to give them a download and a try, though, since they're free!
Yep, spot on!  It doesn't matter if you have a massive collection or a collection of 5 games.  If those five games mean something to you and you get enjoyment out of them, then more power to you!
This is very, very true.  I have games in my collection that I bought to try and couldn't get into, so I pushed as far as I could and then they now sit in my backlog waiting for the day I get back to them.  At least I tried it, I'm thankful for that with every game in that situation!
In my Steam library, very much so!  I get a lot of games gifted to me at christmas and on my bday, and they're usually games that are jokes picked out by friends being funny (Shower with your dad simulator, for instance).  I don't play those games and they sit in my Steam library gather e-dust!

Some people prefer the simplicity of gaming like playing on an older console or even those that enjoy the classic games. But technology is going to keep moving forward and expenses will keep rising to keep up with it. I'm usually not a fan of getting the latest tech that comes out. I don't even game on a 4K TV. The only thing I can suggest, is to wait a couple years to get whatever latest tech is out today so you can save money. It must be more difficult for PC users because on consoles, game are released for that console. For PC, you have to keep up with your computer. So in that case, you have a good point how things should plateau a bit. But no way it will unless there is a world war or economic collapse.

I'll simply say that the AAA game series aren't performing well lately due to the fact they've placed more money as their main target and forget about improving the quality of their gaming.

This is exactly why, despite what the so called "PC Master Race" will say, we need consoles. Consoles effectively "tie down" game development so it doesn't run too far forward out of control. Without them, dev's would push games too far and too fast towards running on top-end hardware that a lot of people can't afford. Thus the install base is lowered. Combine that lower install base with the fact these games would cost even more to make, games would have to be even more expensive to buy and/or filled with more monetisation bullshit than they already are. This would push even more people out of gaming, lowering the install base even more creating even more expense for all parties, thus lowering the install base again. Basically, it would be a massive negative feedback loop that would cause the ecosystem of the gaming world to pretty much collapse.

Look at Cyberpunk 2077. That game was developed to get the best out of PC's then they made console ports, and we remember how well that worked. That's why developers usually design their multiplatform games primarily as console games the further develop a PC version. Like it or not, that's the way it needs to be done.

It's the progression of graphical technology that causes the requirements of games to increase. Every time a new version of technology is launched such as NVME 2.0, it has a domino effect where every manufacturer will start making their devices require NVME 2.0 because they'll make a lot of money for implementing more modern tech standards and the competition will do the say and as such, the creep in requirements happens.

This is what always happens in PC gaming when next generation consoles come out.  This is why I always say to anyone considering building a PC around that kind of time that's it's better to wait until a year or two AFTER next gen comes out to build a PC.  That's not however, taking into consideration that high demand, low supply and the subsequent scalping has still kinda fucked the market a bit.  So it might be better to wait even longer now.

Agreed @PGen98. The PlayStation Plus free games have been really good although the recent months haven't been as good. The lineups when the PS5 first came out, was really, really good. Games like Overcooked and Wreckfest were awesome to play with the new DualSense features.

To be frank what you've said it's simply straightforward way when one doesn't have much of the funds. I always put aside savings for the game on my fantasy and not rushing up using money I've set aside for other things just to satisfying my gaming urge, No, I make plans for everything I want.

It feels like, with every new release and every new advancement in technology that comes around, the specifications for that game seem to be slightly more excessive than the game which came before it, and so on and so forth.  Now it seems like every massive budget title that gets released doesn't typically look or perform well with even a mid-range GPU in place.  This means a lot of money on upgrades and other essentials to get to the point where you meet the recommended settings.  Is this a good thing for gaming, or do you feel the constant pushing of the envelope is getting to be too much for the average consumer?  I think we need to plateau a bit, enjoy what we have before we move onto what we don't have.  Step back from the bleeding edge a bit.

I completely agree with you, KC would be a great market for hockey, and the Blues could do with a team in their own back yard taking away from their fanbase!  Houston is another possibility, which would make for an interesting rivalry with the Stars, and either market would suit the needs of the divisions, so there are definitely options.  I don't see the Coyotes folding anytime soon, but I do think it's well within the realm of possibility that they make a change in their location.

I have 183 steam games listed, another 30 more on another platform. So do you call that collecting then? You ask yourself that and see it for yourself. Do you even play all of the games that you even own.

I'm a hockey nut as well. My team is the Red Wings.
As for relocation, if they do leave Arizona behind, I would like to see them go to KC. Being a Missouri native, it would give another team here and lessen the hometown bullshit that everyone has towards the god damn blues. The blues is the one team in the league that I can't stand. I would love to see the team dissolved and the players recruited to other teams.
But the Coyotes have a lot of reason to move, not just the ending of the lease. They have never really brought enough revenue to the state for them to keep up with the cost of a professional hockey team. If they were in a different part of the country it would be different. But the in southwest part of the US, they just don't usually have interest in "winter" sports. NFL, NBA, MLB are always going strong down there, but the NHL just doesn't have that hold.
Not only do we have to accommodate for the Kraken, but also the Golden Knights. They are just a couple seasons older than the Kraken. So the NHL is still adjusting to that. I know Quebec would love to have another team, but I honestly don't see them crossing the border.
They'll stick around, but I'm pretty sure not in Arizona.

I've played essentially every Mario Gold game from the NES onwards and I love them, they're a lot of fun, but I have to admit that I've been waiting on a price drop for this one :).  I have no doubt it's as fun as the other Mario Golf games, but you're right, it's one that for whatever reason doesn't feel like one I want to pay $60 for.  I actually watched Achievement Hunter play this on their YouTube channel, and it does seem extremely fun, particularly multiplayer, so it is a worthwhile game, but I'm still going to wait for a sale, personally :D

Yeah, that's a problem I would never have.  I like gaming far too much to just stick to one game over and over and over the whole time.  That has to become tedious and feel like abject misery after a while!  Variety is the spice of life, as they say!
