Given nurses in the UK make on average ~£34k a year for a significantly more stressful job, requires greater physical activity, and is - let's be honest - significantly more important... no, esports players are not underpaid by any stretch of the imagination.
But what can really be done about it, if anything needs to be done about it? A lot of esports money will be generated from sponserships and advertising deals; the amount of teams kitted out in jerseys with Monster logos ironed on is innumerable, so it's got to go somewhere. Viewership and ticket prices will also generate their salary, with people paying to fill up seats at stadiums or with virtual/digital tickets. Merch in games being sold based on the teams playing the game from Overwatch to SplitGate will, again, get them a healthy cut and go towards hiring the venue to play.
The only way I could see esports players being underpaid was if they couldn't afford to do their jobs, but if they can't afford to play video games on $75k per annum, what are they doing wrong?

I think COVID-19 decrease made it that way. Lots of people who stayed indoors have gone back to their respective working place, and wouldn't have that chance again to steam all the time. You can imagine when you're totally exhausted, what you'll imagine that time is sleeping in order to rest your body.

I recently bought a "gaming" phone according to the marketing, but I just needed a replacement for my old phone, so I bought a budget gaming phone for around $200~ USD, the infinix note 12 G96. but hey, it's AMOLED. 😁
basically the company who owns tecno also owns infinix, among a few others. 😀

Go for quality RAM devices, the higher the RAM the bigger the phone performance in terms of gaming. Prices differs, I'll suggest the following mobile phones suitable for gaming:
    - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
    - Iphone 13 Pro Max
    - Asus ROG Phone 6
    - Black Shark 5 Pro
    - Tecno Camon 19 Pro
You can check their prices at Amazon store, but bear in mind, you'll spend more funds for this devices due to their high quality and features.

Justin11 reacted to Shagger in How many games do you play at the same time?
First off, the game that @DC gave away (Like I'm sure all of the games he has given away as part of the points system) was in the form of a digital code and, as part of the system, you have to provide proof you have redeemed said code in the "Post here when you get your reward" thread. So no, you can't just sell them off. The system wouldn't exist in the form it does if @DC wanted you to do anything with these games other than play them.

Second, @Yaramaki didn't win that game by "bidding more". This wasn't like the Auction No. 17- $15 Amazon Gift Card currently going on. There was a set price for the code in points, first come, first served. Check that thread for Aquadine on Nintendo Switch and you'll see the difference.

Lastly, and to expand on what @Yaramaki said, even if the system in place was meant for you to sell the codes you bid for, that would be unethical. Not only is it dishonest, but it also denies one of your fellow forum members the chance to grab a game that they actually wanted. Check out this thread for Tyrant's Blessing for Steam that I recently partook in. Given that I had already got another game called Hard West 2 through bid for rewards that was very similar, I was very reluctant to go for it and would only take it if nobody else was interested:

As you can see, in the end @DC felt nobody else was interested, so I got the code, but that's not the point. The point is that it's expected for people to bid for these rewards because they want them, any other motive is not appropriate. I actually held of commenting on that thread for days to give somebody else the chance to claim that game, the thought of claiming the code to then sell it never even crossed my mind. The fact you think that it's OK to claim a reward then just sell it off is, quite frankly, alarming and I'm very concerned.

Just in case it is not clear, claiming an award to then only sell it off or exchange it for credit to buy something else in NOT what the Bid for Rewards section is for, so don't even think about it.

No offence but why bid on something you have no intention of playing or using anyway? I've got a certain moral that if i'm not interested in something leave it for somebody else who is, it's called having respect towards other posters. This is the first time i made a bid on something as it's a visual novel and you know that is right up my alley.

I witnessed the game you won from DC as a result of bidding more. If you don't like the game which you won from the bid, you can sell it off, and use the cash for another game that pokes your interest man, their is nothing much there. DC gave out that game because he wants to, and he doesn't care if the winner went on to play or sell it off, lol.

Are you talking about this thread or the last game played thread? Like i said before people seem to hopping from one game to another in a matter of days which i find strange so hence this thread? Also is the number of post so important for some people, it's something that i never understood who cares about how many posts you have.
Edit looks like i have reached the magic number 666 now 😈👿
But since i'm repeating myself and we start adding games we played recently how about i chip in with what i played during the summer.
Dragon quest 11 echoes of an elusive age  : Currently taking a break from dragon quest, i'm right near the end of act 1 maybe about 35-40 hours in, did grind a lot tough making the game a total breeze so far. Will mostlikely resume playing next week orso. Pokemon Arceus Legends : I've beaten the main story, all i need now is to get the remaining pokemon, which no doubt will require me to look up a guide online and i can already smell you can only get certain pokemon under certain special conditions unknown until you look it up for the 35 hours i put into it i've had fun with it even if it's too easy and the side quests are boring as hell. Monopoly : my go to game when i'm staying at my gf her place, we are about 20 hours in and are still playing our first game of monopoly, unlike real monopoly you can't really cheat and nobody has to be the bank so that's a bonus. You'd be suprised how good board games can be on your tv. The Council : Man what should i add about this game, a more adult version of life is strange with more puzzles minus the strange powers. About halfway trough the game, kinda aiming to complete it by the end of the weekend as work starts again on monday after a 3 week break. Got stuck on a puzzle for 2 hours tough and by the end i had to look it up as i'd probably never figured it out anyway. Aquadine : This will mostlikly my next game i'm going to play @DC gave a code away yesterday for Aquadine trough the bids for rewards program so it would be disrespecting towards him if i woulden't touch the game. Offcourse there are older titles that i play here and there whenever i get a big box from japan but those are mostly for short burst of time and is meanly to see if the games are working before shelving them.

@Heatman @Justin11 I hope you're recommending these games based on their modability as that's what the OP's asking for. If they would like other games in general, I'm sure they'll ask for those as and when they're ready.
    ~
One of the most popular games for modding is Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, which in the same breath has to have mentioned the Ultimate Apocalypse mod. I don't make the rules, but I am legally obliged to say it contains Titans, Baneblades, and so on and so forth.
Otherwise, in addition to Blackangel's suggestion of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the older two games - III: Morrowind and IV: Oblivion - are heavily modular should you want to add stuff to them. Hell, you can even play Oblivion in Skyrim, and Morrowind in Oblivion with the Skyblivion and Morroblivion total conversion mods.

Doing the type of analysis that I know how to do with sports would never be thrown out there on a major website free of charge, and wouldn't want to charge anything for it so I wouldn't do it. I mostly do it just for personal fun. But yes it can be hard to predict sports, that's why I only go with theoretical chances. I don't think anyone is going to rule sports competitions in favor of 1 opponent having a 100% chance or more of winning, meaning that's why there is sports betting odds and stuff like that.

I personally don't even understand the sports betting odds and how they factor that stuff because I have my own system which ended up being pretty accurate. I recently got a pretty good prediction rate on Hockey games last time I did it for fun.

Well in certain areas it is simply not legal and have been too lazy to look up what's going on with it in my area. I've never even made a gentlemens bet, so I just analyze the stuff for fun. Sports betting in my opinion is not simple, though. I personally take a relatively complex look at things, but just use my knowledge to make predictions or fun.

Pro-Football for example: I haven't looked at any of the other teams in the NFL and know virtually nothing about them, but I would give the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over a 30% chance of winning the entire season via Championship/Super Bowl Title and then Tom Brady probably retiring, but that 30% chance is based on what I currently know about the team.

After the first 2 to 5 games; to keep it simple let's say first three -- I could make a better prediction because Tampa Bay literally has a new head coach this season because the other dude quit/retired. Current coach is the former Defensive Coordinator called Todd Bowles, and he is allegedly (or at least is just for the pre-season) calling all of the defensive plays (meaning he is doing double the workload). Things I look at is his social media accounts or any proximities to him that may indicate he is tired, as well as his face. Does his face look tired? Has he had a recent divorce? Many successful athletes have wives and a strong family unit, like Tom Brady does. If he starts getting tired pulling double duty then they may have to hire a defensive coordinator mid season -- which could throw off the entire season and quite frankly throw it out, but this is based on extensively knowledge. Hiring a mid-season defensive coordinator is Super Bowl or Bust. Meaning he would be fantastic or a complete failure.

Predicting outcomes is not an all or nothing type of system, whoever predicts things like that I would say doesn't know how to do it properly. It's better based on percentages or similar factors. I personally play fighting games, and the way people rate a character on a tier list in a fighting game involves both science and opinion -- although the "opinion" usually constitutes the opinion of a professional and the professional having the character in his hands while executing the characters potential in an optimal situation (getting as much out of a combo as possible, etc.). Another thing the pros do is take the characters at an alleged optimal setting and then run a "first to 10".

Let's say we have Mortal Kombat 11 with Sub Zero and Scorpion in the "first to 10", with each character optimized in the hands of a professional. If Scorpion won 7 of the matches and Sub Zero wins 3, then you would call the MK11 Sub Zero/Scorpion (what we call a "matchup") to be a 7/3, obviously in favor of Scorpion. Patches, also known as title updates, can obviously affect a 7/3 matchup situation, and title updates can be -- and are often -- affected by people. Sometimes you just have flatout teenagers whining about how "broken" and "too good" a character is, then they will lobby a development team. The team can potentially then change properties of a character making him or her worse, and lower said character on the tier list.

I do football matches and certain scenarios in football with a similar system to fighting games. Tampa would be a top 5 favorite to win the Super Bowl this season, but their first matchup (which I haven't even looked at yet) would be a 50/50 in my view against Dallas Cowboys at home, or a 5/5 in fighting game terms, but I use the 5/5 setting as a total tossup situation meaning it's a 50% chance for each team to win the game. I could look at the game closer and get a better opinion, but you also have to view the opinion of sports broadcasters and view their arguments as almost like lobbyists or attorneys arguing a case.

Some of these "lobbyists" claimed that they "wouldn't be surprised to see Los Angeles" win the Super Bowl like the next day after Tampa did it, and I had a feeling he was correct. Strong prediction, but Tampa was the first team in NFL history to ever win the Super Bowl in their own stadium (stadiums of which are randomly assigned), and then Los Angeles basically did the same thing the next year with a back to back situation. Smells like fraud to me so I may be too lazy to even draw up predictions this year.

Please tell me if I'm wrong about this, but if I'm reading this right you're saying I'm correct... and then proceed to say that laziness is still a factor? What I'm saying is that laziness is not a factor in game development. Lazy people don't exist in the game development: they all got fired about a decade ago and were replaced by younger people who can work harder for less money, in a never-ending meatgrinder.
Indeed, but it's not often that happens. A lot of work goes into them, and sometimes due to time constraints or budgetary concerns, among other reasons that the current version of the boss has to be the final one.
The lead developers of World of Warcraft would use raids as some sort of currency: "we could do that... but it'd cost a raid tier." So they wanted players to choose between content other than bosses, or bosses exclusively. Apparently not enough people thought both was an acceptable response to such an asinine statement, and that's why the game's tanking subscribers: everything before bosses exists solely to get you to fight the bosses until the next string of bosses comes out, and when those bosses come out the past ones mean nothing. In WoW's case one still needs to put a lot of effort into the bosses though: a bad boss now means lost subs, even when it'll be irrelevant tomorrow.

No they don't (OK, publishers maybe). This goes for @Kane99's response with laziness too. There's time constraints, changes in priorities, being overworked, and more and more cases of sexual harrassment cropping up. Try making a boss battle when you need to sleep in the office, working depressed and frustrated to the point of injury and being treated sexually inappropriately while nothing happens about it.
Laziness is an intellectually lazy response to the failings of gamedev. I'm sure devs fully appreciate the importance of a boss fight being memorable and necessary, and if they can't deliver there's no doubt in my mind there's reasons why they can't deliver on that experience.
Speaking of gamedev, I wonder if bosses are left toward the end of the development progress or storyboard creation, and that's why they get less emphasis unless it's a boss rush game? That they'd rather get the beginnings and ends sorted out, especially story-wise, before focussing on the fights between.

You beat me to it! Its ambition (and $1.5k price tag) brought it low, especially when VR is still having teething troubles to this day. I believe AR will surpass VR soon after the latter is ready, and maybe something else will come along in that time, but in the meantime Google need to take the time to have their products walk before they run. They're apparently trying to do this with Glass 2, but there's plenty of room in the Google Graveyard.
Who knows, if this fails they might eat some humble pie and make a VR headset, perhaps to spark some life back into Stadia's market share. Or maybe they're humbled enough to realise they can't beat the existing competition. They could however buy it out...
