  1. Tablets are completely capable of doing it, and there are games on both app stores that show it. A lot of them also allow you to pair a Bluetooth controller to it. So it’s less of a hardware problem and more of a culture problem. Gamers like turning their noses to someone who plays games on their phone or tablet. Especially now with a lot of these games you own on your PC or console are now available on your phone, and not even in a “dumbed down” mobile version. So it becomes really petty at this point. If I play Genshin Impact on my PlayStation or PC, I am a real gamer. If I use my same Genshin login credentials and progress on my phone or tablet, I am not a gamer. The same thing can be said with the Final Fantasy pixel remasters. If I buy/play them on Steam, I am a real gamer. I buy that game on my phone, not a real gamer. So I think the perspective of it from the gaming community will change, but not from tablets/mobile changing, but from the people changing. Like most perspective changes, the generation that grew up with it start displacing those who dismissed it in the community. This isn’t exclusive to gaming, but there were a lot of things that were widely hated when they were contemporary that are now beloved. Nothing changed about the content, just the acceptance. Since we’re in the age of the internet, things are pretty well archived. You can find forum posts or YouTube videos from 10-15 years ago and see wildly different opinions on the same games that are beloved now.
  2. I like my sleep, I couldn’t handle going 36 hours.
  3. The only stuff I’ve preordered was for releases where their amount they printed was based off the amount of preorders. I personally don’t care to preorder a mass produced item sold at any nationwide chain.
  4. I have one, but I only subscribe to meme pages, and I don’t post or participate in anything.

    VCRs

We tossed a lot of our tapes. We moved around a lot, and we didn’t watch most of them, so we ditched them. A good chunk of them were just recordings from channels like HBO and not authentic ones anyway.
  6. I could see that if it was a frequent thing. If it’s a once in a blue moon situation, I don’t see anything wrong with it.
  7. One of my hobbies is audio production, so my problem with that is that it’s easy for me to get lost into it. I tell myself I’m only gonna do some mixing and EQ’ing, and next thing I know, what I thought was gonna be like 15 minutes ended up being 4+ hours.

    VCRs

I still have one. I barely use the device though. It does fit the aesthetic of my retro setup. Having it paired with the old consoles and a CRT adds to the flair.
  9. The most I’ve spent was about $300 for a copy of Valkyrie Profile. My most wanted is a North American copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. Though I do own a Japanese copy. My favorite item is probably a CIB copy of Lunar 2: The Eternal Blue Complete. I got it at a store in Nashville, and it not only had all the goodies, they were unopened.

    Sega Saturn

I was going off the sales figures of the consoles in Japan. The Saturn selling about 8-10 million (depending on your source) which you will see a sharp drop compared to 3 million for the Mega Drive, and the Dreamcast selling 2 million.

    Sega Saturn

I have one, there’s some pretty cool games on it, but you have to be into those specific niches. Another sad factor is that quite a few of their best games were Japanese exclusives (the Saturn’s most successful market, and also the only successful Sega console in Japan), or the better games didn’t sell very well, especially their releases in 1998 due to low print runs. It was a shame it bombed, but that’s what happens when Sega bombed their surprise early launch at the first E3 and pissed off many major retailers. It also didn’t help that Sony’s E3 appearance was also a stab at Sega where instead of talking about they only mentioned the price “$299”, as opposed to the Saturn’s launch price of $399.
  12. The longest I’ve gone was like 10-12 hours within a single day. Though that was the total time and not a constant time.
  13. I spent a lot of my life in Memphis, including college, so they have a lot of opportunities to do things to raise money for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, because it was a non-profit children’s hospital. So I technically didn’t donate my own money, but I did stuff to raise money for the hospital.
  14. I’ve done it quite a few times. My usual go to is Semi Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind. I hate getting older where I can’t keep my falsetto going for as long (or as high), so I miss belting out Maroon 5.
  15. Tbh, I’ve never actually thought about it. I’ve traveled around a lot, so I have an idea of what I do and don’t like. I wouldn’t mind living in Japan again. I have a ton of extended family members there. I still have my citizenship so it wouldn’t be too difficult legally to move back. I’m just too broke to do it.
  16. Ask me anything, and I’ll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.
  17. I don’t “prefer” gaming at night, it’s just that on work days, the night time is the only time I have time to play games. Then on weekends, I spend the day catching up on my hobbies, so i once again end up gaming at night.
  18. It definitely does look like Outlook webmail. Apparently according to Microsoft, Hotmail got replaced with Outlook: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-to-sign-in-to-hotmail-c378938b-c0eb-40c1-b99e-338dd9e776a8 So I guess you are using Outlook, but you’re allowed to use your Hotmail credentials to log in.

    Howdy

I made it public because I had a previous experience with unprofessional moderators. I and several others sent PM’s to the staff about it, and our complaints were promptly ignored until it was made public. I’ll take note of that in the future here, I just personally haven’t had a good experience with moderator issues if I kept it behind closed doors.

I actually did send a PM to DC several hours ago. I can PM the screenshot to it if you want.

Her responsibility is to also uphold the rules and not break them herself. If the rules state that the members aren’t allowed to do something, the moderators are also not allowed to do it as well. Unless there’s a clause in the site’s rules that exempts them from that that I most have missed. It’s definitely an abuse of power to be allowed to insult people, and also an abuse when you try to shut down a debate you’re losing “because it’s going nowhere”.

    Howdy

Reread what I said, I’m not discrediting the argument because she’s a mod, the reason why I’m mentioning the moderator aspect is the quick to insult action, along with the attitude of “I’m right and I don’t have to prove it.”. The discrediting part has to do with the fact that apparently it’s okay for her to use Wikipedia as a valid source of information, but when I read the exact article she cited, there was information on there discrediting her statements, and that got thrown out because it disagreed with her. I find that to be childish. Moderators also aren’t supposed to go around insulting people, especially being the one to start the insulting. They’re supposed to uphold the rules, not break them. It’s very hypocritical for a moderator to be allowed to issue warnings and ban people for infractions, but they’re allowed to get away with it. So I hope I clarified my stance on this.

I don't think being here longer gives mods or anyone the right to disrespect someone. Before my previous comment, you can see I was cordial, yet I got insulted, called a liar, and then provided evidence for my position and that got thrown out of the window because they didn't like it. Apparently moderators can use Wikipedia to back their claims, but I can't? Seems pretty power hungry to me.

    Punk Rock

Most of the original punk artists were into politics, just look at stuff from the Sex Pistols and the Clash. The two bands that people cite as being the “originals”. I’m a big fan of the genre, but I’m not a fan of the community behind it. It’s full of a lot of gatekeeping and people flaunting their “street cred”. There’s also the fun aspect of when someone does something new, the punk community initially writes it off and says it’s “not real punk”, and then several years later your legitimacy is questioned if you don’t like that previously hated artist.
  25. I did. One reason was because I was broke, but for awhile it was less of a hassle to find lesser known artists that way than the legitimate way. Now I own more CD’s and vinyl than most people I know.
