In-game events that make no sense beyond out-of-game reasons
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
The Hatfields & McCoys meets Romeo & Juliet feud in RDR2. Out of game it's obviously about land, money, and power. In game, not even the two families involved can remember what started the feud, how long it's been going, and why it's still going. In the middle of it, Romeo from one family, and Juliet from the other are in love and carrying on a secret affair with each other. From what I gather, if their families found out, their lives would be forfeit. That has never been directly stated at any point that I can recall, but from the atmosphere between both families, it wouldn't surprise me. -
It's 10% off right now until 4-1-21. Normal price is $29.99 (£21.74, €25.45), it's at $26.99 (£19.56, €22.91) at the moment.

I don't think common sense leads to idiocy. Common sense is things like not taking a hot pan out of the oven with your bare hands. Not trying to pet a rattlesnake. Not buying a brand new Ferrari when you only have the means to own 20 year old Mazda. That's why it's called common sense. Uncommon sense would be a more appropriate term for flat earthers, and anti-vaxxers and the like. But there's no sense there, just a desire for attention, an a will to do whatever it takes. Even when you're proven stupid. A 2 inch globular object (eyeball) cannot accurately judge a 7,917.5 mile (earth) globular object from standing at one spot. That is impossible. In order to do so, you would have to leave the larger object and get a look at the entire thing from a large distance. That is like putting a grain of sand next to NYC. The sand isn't going to see all of NYC from where it's standing. But that doesn't mean it's not there.

The road to civil war is paved with the freedoms and rights that Democrats have fought so valiantly to protect. The same ones that the republiKKKlans find inconvenient and want done away with. Some of us are taking up arms to fight the terrorists, while others are taking up shovels and pickaxes to try to dig up those freedoms and rights to restore them. It's gone beyond a question of "if", and into a question of "when" the civil war will start. In my eyes, it started on January 6th, 2021 with their attack on the Capitol building. I don't see how that can be taken as anything other than the first attack of a civil war. We took out bin Laden after 9/11. While the Capitol is still standing and the death toll isn't even comparable, people still died. So is this just a terrorist attack we're going to forgive? Is it the first attack in a civil war we're going to ignore? When I was sworn in while joining the marines, part of the oath is to defend this country from all enemies. Both foreign AND DOMESTIC. So are we going to defend this country from its domestic enemies or are we just going to sit back with our thumbs up our asses? This is the reason I own an AR-15.

RepubliKKKlans want voting rights........... for only republiKKKlans. They want Democrats banned from voting. If blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and any other non white person wants to vote, they're welcome to vote. As long as they vote republiKKKlan. It reminds me of what Henry Ford said about the Model-T: "A person can have any color they want, as long as they choose black." That is the republiKKKlan motto. You can vote for anything you want as long as you vote republiKKKlan. I still say to give them free swimming lessons. Take them to the middle of the Pacific. Throw them overboard, and whoever makes it to shore gets to live until the next challenge. The next one should be something they worship. Throw them in a pit with a bunch of hungry lions for a day. If there's anything left of them the next day, then we'll start getting creative. The rack would be fun to watch. Public neutering and spaying. That would be good. We need to keep these creatures from breeding. You know, like Bob Barker said. Control the population. When we feed them, assuming we do at all, they get rotten table scraps. Things even the dogs didn't want. Since they're humanoid in appearance, they would be better for medical test subjects than animals. Leave the rats alone. Those are sacred creatures. Inject the republiKKKlans with the chemicals that haven't had their effects fully observed yet.

When video games feel more real than RL
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I wear a hematite ring on each thumb, and it helps more than people can know. The downside is that hematite is very brittle. When one breaks, if I don't have an extra to replace it, I feel completely off balance until I can get another one. I also have a large chunk of hematite in my office that I hold a lot. It calms me as it draws out negative feelings and emotions. Sometimes I put it to the ground and hold it down with my palm. I can literally feel the stress leaving my body. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but it's worth a shot. Just for novelty purposes, I'm looking for a piece of raw hematite. Everything I have is polished. -
When video games feel more real than RL
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I dream of having the life that Arthur has in RDR2. Living with the gang I men. People actually caring about you. Not beating you every day. Not telling you how worthless you are. People needing you. People who want you around and want to be around you. I get lost in fantasy when I play the game. Those are things I never had. At this point if someone was to say "I love you" to me, it would probably destroy my psyche. If it didn't do that, then there would never be any chance of me trusting them. I know for a fact that there would be some sort of ulterior motive behind a statement like that. No one says such a thing without something else in mind. -

What it’s like to be a video game voice actor
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I do a lot of voice acting for the crew I'm with. They like the way I sound and the commanding tone I have. Our games that we come up with are just for us and friends/family. But while I'm a "thinker" I'm also a voice actress on occasion. -

Realistic or unrealistic movement, which do you prefer?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
It all depends on the game. If it's a cartoony game, then unrealistic moves are fine. If it's a realistic game, then I don't want any weird movements. -
Have you ever bought books based on video games?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I bought Mortal Kombat after the first movie came out and there was MK fever. I still have it and reread it all the time. It strays a lot from the story of the game. But it still has the core characters, plus a few extras. The story behind a few of the characters is changed. For example, I never heard of Reptile being Shao Kahn's personal bodyguard prior to reading the book. Also, why in all the fucks of the world, would Shao Kahn need a god damn bodyguard? I think he's just a little too powerful to need protection and security around him like that. He's not the President of the US. He's an immortal being with powers and abilities that mankind can't even fathom. -
RL complexity that doesn’t translate well into games?
The Blackangel replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
If you're talking about holding down a button, when you rope something in RDR2, you have to keep the button held down until you get up to it. If you let go of the button the rope lets go. That's a pain in the ass. -
What's the one game you always return to?
The Blackangel replied to Martin Berisford's topic in Gaming Forum
It's a tie for two, and they're in the same franchise. Zelda A Link To The Past (SNES), and Zelda Ocarina Of Time (N64). I always go back to them at some point. They are the two games I can't give up and always play through again and again. -
My PC, no. But a DVD blew up a PS2. We were watching a movie on it, and suddenly heard a loud pop and smoke started coming out of it. I got it out of the house, but we laughed our asses off about it. It was such a random thing. The DVD was fine, but the PS2 was obviously shot. Literally. I used it as a target afterwards. I got pretty good with my 10 ton 9mm before I sold it. The damn thing was heavy as hell. But I got a much better one now, so it's all good.

As opposed to what? No one has ever cared. Nor will they.

If you're a horror nut, Shudder is a good choice. They have the new stuff and the old stuff all the way back to the silent film Nosferatu and Bella Lugosi's portrayal of Dracula. It's also got other random films that I guarantee you won't find anywhere else. There's a movie that was banned almost unanimously around the world because people believed that what was happening in it was real. They thought it was a snuff film. I don't remember the title of it, but when I was using Shudder, it was on there. it's pretty gruesome, and the realism in it is beyond compare. It's worth a watch. Unless you're squeamish of course.

There are people who are recognized for their genius. Stephen Hawking was one such man. Despite having Lou Gehrig's disease, he was the most genius man alive. That title in my opinion has not gone to Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson. I see him as the most genius man alive, and would love to pick his brain sometime. But no mind will ever surpass Leonardo da Vinici. He was so far ahead of his time, he was often looked at as insane. And there is a very thin line between genius and insane. But he designed the first helicopter. He also designed an airplane, and parachute. Things that no living person could have used back then. Granted his designs weren't viable and couldn't have worked by the laws of aerodynamics. But the point is, he thought them up.
