  1. We may be in more of a "cold war" state at the moment. There are always going to be people that are hardcore loyal to one brand and want all others destroyed. There are going to be people who really don't give a shit as long as the game is fun and the controller doesn't hurt their hand and is easy to use. We may end up with a thing like the restaurant thing from the movie Demolition Man, if anyone remembers that. There were franchise wars and the only one that survived was Taco Bell. So in the future all restaurants were Taco Bell. The same thing may happen with games. But If I had to put my money on one, I would say Nintendo has the best shot at that survival. I mean how many kick ass systems have come and gone during the Nintendo lifetime? Granted they were idiots when they backed out of their deal with Sony, but still. Yes Xbox and PS are killing it in the console market, and Nintendo is keeping up fairly well, but it's seemed to lag in the past before and came out on top.
  2. I grew up in the 80's when 14k of space stood as tall as a man. At that time only governmental facilities had computers. So I grew up on consoles, and still prefer that way today. I grew up on Nintendo, and it's still my preferred company. I have nothing against Sega or PlayStation, they're great too. I'm not going to get into Xbox, I hate it. But after Win95 came out, computers started getting cheaper. I learned how to build them during the Win98 era. So I was able to play games like Diablo, AoE, MDK, and other early birdies. Nowadays, I have no real interest in PC gaming. Most of what I've seen is online gaming, the rest is stuff I'm just not into. I'm not going to completely rule PC gaming out forever, but as it sits right now, I'm sticking with consoles for the foreseeable future.
  3. Jar Jar didn't bug me too much. But Hayden Christiansen made me want a brain enema, or to have my entire memory wiped clean. It doesn't matter what the movie is. If Christiansen is anywhere near it, it's not worth seeing. But the thing that really pissed me off was the end of episode 6. They actually had the audacity to remove Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker when he was part of the force with Yoda and Obi-Wan and replace him with Christiansen. That was when I vowed to never watch that movie again unless it was an original copy on VHS, from the 80's. Before Christiansen was born.
  4. The whole Star Wars thing makes me sick. When Lucas sold the rights to Disney, they took that as a green light to release the most worthless, pathetic excuses for a franchise expansion since Jaws The Revenge. It was perfect at the end of episode 6. Making more ruined the saga.
  5. 2019 is the year of remakes, and shitty sequels.
  6. Nothing much past N64/PS1. The only system I play that's newer is a bit of PS3.
  7. Diablo 2 was good about this. It had 3 settings. Normal, Nightmare, and Hell. You had to beat the previous setting to unlock the next one. It also had another difficulty feature. Hardcore. In that, no matter where you are in the game, If you die, that's it. You have to start from the very beginning of the entire game, with nothing that you had previously found. Obviously that part is entirely optional, and I never chose that option. I pretty much sucked at the game without creating my own items, but you always have the choices. Also if you want to make it extra hard, you can stick with the equipment you have at the beginning of the game and never upgrade anything. But you can do that in pretty much any game, so I don't know if that one really counts.
  8. Ah I get what you're saying. I think a few hints at some thing would be a good idea. There are some games with things in it that are so well hidden that without a players guide, you would very possibly never know of their existence. Even after playing the games for years, and wondering what the hell that blank spot is for, you just can't figure it out. Once again I'm gonna draw from FF8 for this one. Without a players guide, who here thinks they could have found the GF's Doomtrain, Eden, Bahamut, Tonberry, and Diablos? Possibly even Brothers? Did you pick up at any point the connection between Squall and Laguna? How about Rinoa and Julia? If you miss one specific key conversation at precisely the correct time at the beginning of the game on disc 1, you don't have another chance to get Diablos until the end of the game on disc 4. Hell the first 2 or 3 times I played the game, I didn't realize that there are 2 free GF's that you can get if you just turn on your study panel in the class room. Turn it on, click tutorial, and boom! You have Quezacotl and Shiva. Not exactly the most cryptic or well hidden secret, but how many first time players are actually gonna go to their study panel? It's a class room. What are they gonna study? Algebra? Pass.
  9. I have most of it uploaded to a page hidden within a website. But unless I know you really well I don't share it.
  10. I'm glad you guys are up to date on this type of thing, because I had no idea they were making a new Bill & Ted movie. Is the same guy playing Bill?
  11. I always like playing Triple Triad in FF8. It's an easy and fun way to get items you need for upgrading your weapons and items you need in general.
  12. I'm an amateur writer. I've finished 2 novels, a few short stories, and a shitload of unconventional poetry. I don't know if that counts as a craft or not, but I enjoy it because I get to be god (or in my case goddess) and do whatever I want to the characters. I can get out my frustrations and be as cruel or kind as I want.
  13. I assume you're talking about online gaming, but since I don't play online games, I don't know what I could offer on this topic. I've tried the online thing a few times, and absolutely hated it every time. So like I said, I can't really offer much to this conversation.
  14. I have around 10 tubs holding my games. I end up going through them almost every day, sometimes twice a day, just to make sure the right games are in the right tub, and the genres are together, the miscellaneous games are separate, they're separated by system, series are together, and a million other things. If there's ONE game out of place, I'll take an hour to find the perfect spot for it if I have to. If the tub is full and there's one game left over that needs to be in it, I'll spend the rest of the day deciding which game (if any) could be moved to another tub so I can put that last one in. If there's a one time event in a game, for example drawing Alexander from Edea at the end of disc 2 in FF8. and I forget it, I will reset the game, start from the last save point, no matter how far back it was, and go again. Or I will start a whole new game. It's perfection or nothing. I may be a severely anal perfectionist, or I may have a case of OCD where everything has to be completed and done just right. if I have a stack of DVD's (Family Guy for example) they have to be aligned just perfect and by season. out of order and not stacked perfectly will keep me up all night.
  15. Yet you're so fucking high and mighty that you flip out if someone says something you don't like. You must BE a Nazi or you wouldn't have taken such offense to my comment. If you would just take your head out of your ass for a few minutes and get off your high horse, maybe you could learn what a fucking METAPHOR is.
  16. That statement is incorrect. There's quite a bit evidence that the paranormal exists. Look at some of the proven stories La Llorona The Moving Coffins Of Barbados Rose Hall The Tower Of London Chickamauga Battlefield Leap Castle Spedlins Tower Ntavelis's Cave Even the White House There are hundreds, possibly thousands of records, many physical proof of hauntings. Such as audio recordings, photos, video recordings, and so much more. If you choose not to believe, that's fine. But don't say there's no proof.
  17. From the first day of Kindergarten. I wasn't just bullied I was tortured. And it wasn't just the students. The teachers got in on it too. I changed school districts between 7th and 8th grade, hoping for a fresh start. It didn't help at all. To top it off, by that time the beatings I was getting at home made me mean as hell, and I beat the complete shit out of a lot of kids and actually came close to killing one. But when I warned him that his family would get it worse if my name came out, he kept silent. But the bullying got worse. Finally I dropped out early in my junior year. I could take no more. I vowed to never return to that town again. And for the last 20 years I've kept that vow. One thing that I don't know how it got started was someone started a rumor that I was going to open fire at graduation and had bombs set up at prom. Due to that, I couldn't take a shit without a fucking cop following me. The day of prom, I thought prom was still 2 weeks away. I had no plans to go anyway, but here comes the god damn cops, asking me questions that I eventually told them to fuck off about. I heard there were undercover ARMED cops stationed all over the gym and outside the school at graduation. I wasn't within an hour of the town. They were still there. It's been 20 years and I still get looks when I'm in the general area. Meaning within 10 miles. I've been misanthropic my entire life, but I have a special hatred for that town. If any one of them was burning I would throw a bucket of gas on them. If they were drowning, I would throw a bucket of water on them. If they were being crushed, I would throw a cement block on them.
  18. What version of Windows was the game designed for? If it was designed for something old like Win98 or Win95, your computer may be too powerful for the game.
  19. Then isn't that just exclusionary, possibly even prejudice? That only players that the game developer views worthy gets to play their game? Sounds a bit like Nazism to me.
  20. I read somewhere that they also considered Samuel L. Jackson for the role of Morpheus. Now don't get me wrong, he's an amazing actor, but this role just doesn't seem like something that would fit his acting abilities. Laurence Fishburne (sp?) was the best choice in my opinion. But if he hadn't been available there are only a few other actors I can think of that could have pulled off the role. James Earl Jones, Sean Connery, Anthony Hopkins, and Liam Neeson. Hell maybe even Dwayne Johnson. They are the only actors I can think of off the top of my head that could have the right commanding presence to have done the role justice. At least that are alive. If we are going to include deceased actors I would have said possibly Marlon Brando. If you've seen The Godfather then you know why him.
  21. I don't see why not. A lot of games have training modes, so why not easy/medium/hard selection? there are some games also that are so incredibly hard that most people just can't beat them without something like a Game Genie. I'll admit there's a couple like that for me. So I think you should have the option to set the difficulty lever on certain games and then as your skills improve you can increase the difficulty on new runs of the game.
  22. You're welcome to ask anything you want. I'm not an authority on MD, but I do know more than I want to know. Yes the MD can, and probably will, affect my ability to use my hands for much. It is like a slow drip and instead of leaking water, it leaks strength and endurance. But so far just sitting back and pressing buttons in my hands in a relaxed state doesn't seem to be in any danger for a while. Fingers crossed.
  23. Ok so cripples are excluded. Thanks for clearing that up.
  24. You haven't offended me in any way. Trust me if you did, you would know. I don't hold back when someone offends me. And I've been told by both truckers and sailors to watch my mouth. So I'm not shy about letting someone know what I think of them.
  25. I'll stick with the hardware. Digital is good for some things, but not as a gaming system. If I'm not physically changing the cartridge or disc, I'm not interested.
