killamch89 reacted to Shagger in Do you think MK11 will add the MK Movie character skins?
Calm down. Just because a game includes skins and/or aesthetic options and touches from a movie, especially when that movie is based on the game to begin with, it doesn't make it a movie based based game, and even if it did, it doesn't spell doom for game.

Having said that, @Kane99, a video game based on a movie based on a game is a concept that's been done before with predictively has results. Did you know their is a Street Fighter: The Movie, the game? It was basically a clone of Street Fighter 2, except the character models were replaced with digitised models of the actors from the film.

I concur on this one. I understand the original trilogy was highly beloved, and it would have been nearly impossible for any spin-off game to recapture that lightning in a bottle. While there were certainly things about Andromeda I didn't like, I don't think it was the massive trainwreck everyone treated it like it was, and I actually really enjoyed playing it.

I would totally play games on an airplane. I think more airports will start to implement those options. Imagine playing VR in an airplane, would really heighten the experience I think.

killamch89 reacted to m76 in Why do we call the hardest enemies "bosses"
Boss means higher in the hierarchy than regular cannon fodder enemies. It does not refer to their character being any kind of boss in the normal sense. But sometimes "boss" enemies can be actual bosses, other times they are just harder to defeat than regular enemies. Hence we also refer to some enemies as mini-bosses. The ones that are tougher than normal, but not the uber enemy of the game. So for example in Doom, the hell knight is a mini-boss. The cyberdemon is a boss.

killamch89 reacted to Kane99 in What is the hardest video game you've played?
Well, this will sound lame, but I'd say Dark Souls. But, when I was a kid, I would argue Tenchu: Stealth Assassins & Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins were the hardest games I played. But, there are a ton of NES, SNES games I'd say are tough too.
    Recent memory, Dark Souls though.

As a writer I can tell you some things to help out.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    1) The first sentence of your story is the hardest part to write. After that, many, if not most, stories flow organically and tend to write themselves.
    2) Don't force it. You have to have that itch to start writing. And when you're writing if that itch goes away, don't force yourself to continue. Finish the sentence you're on, save it, and stop writing for that time until the itch comes back. Forcing it will make your writing pure shit.
    3) Think about what you're wanting to write before you start. How you want it to start. What you want to happen in the middle. What you want the ending to be. What kind of conflicts you want the characters to face in order to keep the reader reading.
    4) What kind of story you want to write. Fantasy, thriller, drama, sci-fi, horror, comedy, etc. Think about what kind of characters you need for your story.
    5) Decide if you are the one telling the story or if a character is telling the story.
    6) And most importantly is it fiction or nonfiction.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
These are just a few things. There's a lot more, but this should help you get started in the craft of the written word.

Quarantine has been positive for me. It's always good to try and turn a negative into a positive. I've improved my cooking skills, devoted more time on my YouTube channel and website, and learned how to communicate virtually with people with technology.

Quarantine was good for me because I became fitter and also had a lot of time for myself. Also I improved in my cooking and related better with my neighbours. Generally it was a good but someday were boring.

killamch89 reacted to m76 in Games you loved, but ended up hating as an adult
I don't make a habit of revisiting childhood games as an adult. Times change and most of what was interesting to 12 year old me, no longer is.
When I did  revisit some games, the most common experience was that what seemed extremely hard and complex back then usually seems like child's play as an adult. It doesn't mean that I now hate those games, though.
I think what is more interesting is what games you can play with the same enthusiasm as an adult as you did as a kid.

As long as I'm not picking up a bar of soap I'm fine. But it does add scare factor in horror games.

For their own sake, scalpers need to stop talking to the press and boasting on social media. Most conmen and crooks at least have enough common sense to take the ill gotten cash and keep quiet. We all know, and they all know, exactly what they're doing and why it's wrong, so that they would try to justify themselves is simply amazing. It actually goes beyond belief. For somebody to be that arrogant and successful, yet so delusional and stupid, I'm almost impressed.

It's actually good too for the companies, because when some people explore a certain game as a demo and play few missions, they will love to continue the game, which means they will buy it (if it's any good)

Probably not because they have their money in the politician's pockets so not likely to happen.
I get what they're saying about the EU but I agree with you in regards to this situation. The EU is cracking down on a lot of the bigger companies and wish more countries in the West would follow their example. Tech companies have been ripping us consumers off for ages so this is a good thing to see.

Do you guys ever use racing wheel peripherals? I have an old one for the PS1 that I remember stopped working at some point, and I still have it sitting in my closet. I'm thinking of finally getting rid of it, and finally getting one for my PC maybe. I'm not much into racing games, but I think it'd be worth it to use a racing wheel.
Speaking of that, do you guys have any good suggestions for driving wheels for the Xbox One and PC?

I don't get why @Empire and @skyfire are being so negative about this. What Valve and the other companies listed were doing was blocking game codes purchased in one part of the EU from being used in another parts of the EU. Remember, the all of Europe is part of the PAL region, so there should be region blocking for software nor hardware. These companies did this to ensure that people were paying the highest price for those games across the whole continent no what matter what that country's indigenous market, economic status and local law dictates as fair, which is incredibly shady and purpose built to rip people off. As gamers, we should be praising them for taking this action.

I mean Skyrim is in the middle of a civil war so I can understand the drab grey color. That being said, I do have to agree with you on Bethesda's inconsistency and the fact that they keep removing features every game. In Oblivion, you could make your own spells and rename your own potions among other things. In Skyrim, you can't do most of that stuff without mods and the worst part is, Bethesda will continue to shit on their modding community - one of the main reasons for their success.

killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel in Entitlement and superiority in gaming
I'm sure everyone has encountered this at some point. Online gamers have most likely encountered a hell of a lot more of it. Have you ever gamed with/against someone who was so superior that it made you not want to even play the game in question ever again? Or someone who was so entitled that if you won, they would act like a spoiled 2 year old and throw a tantrum?
I've seen gamers go nuts over losing and revert to infancy. There's several reddit review videos on YouTube where the channel host reads a post from people going nuts over being shot in CoD, or losing in Super Smash Bros or some other online game. One kid even got his mother on the game line and she threatened to have the person who shot her son arrested and sue him for it. If that isn't entitlement and superiority, I don't know what is. If I remember right the kid was banned from the group, and after it made the rounds, no other group would let him in either.
I encountered this in a minor scale. When I would beat the neighbor kids in a fighting game like Mortal Kombat, they would get so pissed off. Mainly because they got their ass kicked by a girl.

killamch89 reacted to Shagger in Capcom Condemns Gacha and Loot Boxes in New Report
I remember the Capcom that thought DLC stood for "Disc Locked Content". I think it was Marvel Vs Capcom 3 where the characters meant to be exclusive to the PlayStation (a dick move all by itself) were actually on the Xbox dics along with, of course, the DLC characters. It was unbelievable, and they defended this by saying the put the DLC on the disk for "player convenience", in that people wouldn't have to download the characters before being able to use them. Utterly ridiculous.

However, I feel that Capcom are a very different company now. Somewhere around the launch of the PS4 and XB1, an unfortunate yet justified lack in consumer confidence in the company lead them to a point whare they were in very real trouble financially. A lot of upcoming games were cancelled and they barely survived. However, they saw the error in their ways and started to bring some real quality and value back to into their games, turned back on the business practices that had put people off from buying their products and they slowly rebuild both their business and their reputation.

So, I'm not surprised to see this version of Capcom taking a stand like this and I'm glad they are.

Oooh, Interesting. It's nice to see actual companies being against loot boxes. But, this is Capcom we're talking about, and I'm not sure if you all remember, but years back they had content on disc that was locked behind a paywall. This was for one of the street fighter games. But, if they changed their ways and aren't for this sort of stuff, I hope more companies jump on board with their opinion.
