killamch89 got a reaction from Reality vs Adventure in What is happening with Dying Light 2?
Dying Light 2 is like that father that has gone to the store to get some milk and still hasn't shown up yet - 10 years later but you hope your dad will come back. That's how I feel about Dying Light 2 - I want to get my hopes up but it's a broken record at this point. I mean they've postponed the game a million times now.

Cyberpunk 2077. It certainly lacks any buildup, and 90% of establishing your character and their relations are done in a 20 second mashup video. They should've let you play the events of that 20 seconds in at least 2-3 hours of introductory gameplay. Instead of the extremely lame tutorial.

Yoga, exercise, walk and also taking break after every 40 minutes is the way to go. There is no other way out of it. If you cross 30s, then yes take more breaks and work in small batches. Gaming more than 2 hour straight after 30s would kill you slowly like smoking and alcohol consumption. You may notice this early or maybe in 45 or so but burnout will happen.

Back pain is not normal, you should change your chair or sitting position if you experience back pain.

killamch89 reacted to Withywarlock in Does anyone else find it surprising that there aren’t more games like DA: Origins?
I do find it surprising, but there's a number of reasons I've seen why don't see this happen often. The first being that games enthusiasts think multiple endings are good, when really it depends entirely on the talent of the writers and their confidence in the story they want to tell, and the audience they want to tell it to. With multiple origins if one is bad it could well turn off the player for the rest of the game, but comes at a lower risk because there's other beginnings to choose from if one doesn't work out and won't sour the past, say, 40 hours of gameplay.
The second hypothesis I have is that, going back to competent writers, multiple origins don't matter if they're completely disregarded, such is the case with Dragon Age: Origins' expansion Awakening, and the sequels. Dragon Age was not intended to be a franchise, which explains why its narrative is so incredibly well woven. Your origins matter in DA:O, but only in the vacuum that is that one game.
If we are to see more games with multiple origin paths devs have to be prepared to either make it a one-shot, have a sequel that is completely unrelated with the same mechanics and tone, or have a sequel that's a direct continuation knowing full well there'll be additional story.

killamch89 reacted to m76 in Games that wasn't worth the price...
As I've mentioned in the topic Games that were worth it but not at full price? I rarely buy games at full price, so it made no sense to list almost every game I bought.
So in this topic I'm asking what games you regretted buying because they were not worth whatever you paid for them.
    So here goes my list
Fallout 4 Season Pass. I bought this in the middle of my playthrough of the base game when I was still enthusiastic about it, but by the time any DLC dropped I wasn't interested in the game, I never even finished the content, I maybe spent 20 minutes with the DLCs. Far Cry: New Dawn. I expected more Far Cry 5 style content from this, instead it got completely revamped and turned into a grindfest with tiered enemies and weapons, I hated it and never finished the game. Rage 2: I was excited for the game because I loved Mad Max, and this was virtually the same game in concept, made by the same developers. Unfortunately I was gravely disappointed, barely spent half an hour with it before abandoning the game.I might try again some time but so far it was a waste of money. The Last of Us Remastered. I bought this for the PS4, but never actually played it. I had hoped they improved the controls over the PS3 version, but sadly it was just as frustrating as the original release. So I spent an hour with it and realized this will end badly. Best case me breaking the controller, worst case throwing it into the TV. Mafia III: Just simply a bad game, that I never got my money's worth out of. Sniper Ghost Warrior 3: I got this really cheap with all DLC included I had thought I made such  a deal. Only to find out that the game is actually terrible.

that's roughly in the same ballpark as PS4 launch sales. Except the PS4 didn't have a pandemic driving sales.
If they were able to keep up with the demand they could'Ve sold twice that.

Eh, I have to disagree, as this game never really took off. If anything, it was pretty much dead on arrival. The userbase pretty much dropped the game soon after release. There are some devoted fans, but most people dropped out of the game soon after they finished it.
Cyberpunk 2077 is far from a flop though. It didn't live up to the hype though, but I wouldn't say it was a flop, considering they still made a shit ton on the game, even with all the problems.

So you tried to play it and it broke down. It actually sounds legitimate copy of Alfa Romeo Racing as it's a perfect simulation of thier cars.

I used to play 2D side scroller platformers a lot, but they can't keep me occupied anymore, I've tried modern ones, and I always get super bored in 2 minutes.

The other genre is RTS games, not out of choice, but because there are no good games in the genre, hasn't been in a long time.

killamch89 reacted to Shagger in Do you think MK11 will add the MK Movie character skins?
Calm down. Just because a game includes skins and/or aesthetic options and touches from a movie, especially when that movie is based on the game to begin with, it doesn't make it a movie based based game, and even if it did, it doesn't spell doom for game.

Having said that, @Kane99, a video game based on a movie based on a game is a concept that's been done before with predictively has results. Did you know their is a Street Fighter: The Movie, the game? It was basically a clone of Street Fighter 2, except the character models were replaced with digitised models of the actors from the film.

I concur on this one. I understand the original trilogy was highly beloved, and it would have been nearly impossible for any spin-off game to recapture that lightning in a bottle. While there were certainly things about Andromeda I didn't like, I don't think it was the massive trainwreck everyone treated it like it was, and I actually really enjoyed playing it.

I would totally play games on an airplane. I think more airports will start to implement those options. Imagine playing VR in an airplane, would really heighten the experience I think.

killamch89 reacted to m76 in Why do we call the hardest enemies "bosses"
Boss means higher in the hierarchy than regular cannon fodder enemies. It does not refer to their character being any kind of boss in the normal sense. But sometimes "boss" enemies can be actual bosses, other times they are just harder to defeat than regular enemies. Hence we also refer to some enemies as mini-bosses. The ones that are tougher than normal, but not the uber enemy of the game. So for example in Doom, the hell knight is a mini-boss. The cyberdemon is a boss.

Well, this will sound lame, but I'd say Dark Souls. But, when I was a kid, I would argue Tenchu: Stealth Assassins & Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins were the hardest games I played. But, there are a ton of NES, SNES games I'd say are tough too.
    Recent memory, Dark Souls though.

As a writer I can tell you some things to help out.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    1) The first sentence of your story is the hardest part to write. After that, many, if not most, stories flow organically and tend to write themselves.
    2) Don't force it. You have to have that itch to start writing. And when you're writing if that itch goes away, don't force yourself to continue. Finish the sentence you're on, save it, and stop writing for that time until the itch comes back. Forcing it will make your writing pure shit.
    3) Think about what you're wanting to write before you start. How you want it to start. What you want to happen in the middle. What you want the ending to be. What kind of conflicts you want the characters to face in order to keep the reader reading.
    4) What kind of story you want to write. Fantasy, thriller, drama, sci-fi, horror, comedy, etc. Think about what kind of characters you need for your story.
    5) Decide if you are the one telling the story or if a character is telling the story.
    6) And most importantly is it fiction or nonfiction.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
These are just a few things. There's a lot more, but this should help you get started in the craft of the written word.

Quarantine has been positive for me. It's always good to try and turn a negative into a positive. I've improved my cooking skills, devoted more time on my YouTube channel and website, and learned how to communicate virtually with people with technology.

killamch89 reacted to m76 in Games you loved, but ended up hating as an adult
I don't make a habit of revisiting childhood games as an adult. Times change and most of what was interesting to 12 year old me, no longer is.
When I did  revisit some games, the most common experience was that what seemed extremely hard and complex back then usually seems like child's play as an adult. It doesn't mean that I now hate those games, though.
I think what is more interesting is what games you can play with the same enthusiasm as an adult as you did as a kid.

For their own sake, scalpers need to stop talking to the press and boasting on social media. Most conmen and crooks at least have enough common sense to take the ill gotten cash and keep quiet. We all know, and they all know, exactly what they're doing and why it's wrong, so that they would try to justify themselves is simply amazing. It actually goes beyond belief. For somebody to be that arrogant and successful, yet so delusional and stupid, I'm almost impressed.
