The 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at Imola is arguably the most infamous race weekend in the of history F1, perhaps Motorsport in general.  Fatal crashes were of course nothing new in F1, for a long time they were actually fairly common.  I think what made Imola 94 so infamous was a combination of the high profile of the one of the driver's involved and the fact that there had not been a fatal incident in years.  You could even argue it become so "safe" that they were borderline complacent.

First, Rubens Barrichello was injured in a high speed crash in the first practice session.  Senna himself being one the ones that rushed to the medical center, making it there before even Barrichello's team principal Eddie Jordan.

The next day the real tragedies began.  During Qualifying Roland Ratzenberger, a driver for the new Simtek team in only his Third F1 Grand Prix Weekend lost his front wing and crashed into the barrier after going down the streight just before Villeneuve Corner at nearly 200 Mph.  He died from his injuries becoming the first driver to killed in an F1 session since Riccardo Paletti at the 1892 Canadian Grand Prix.

Despite the whole event looking increasingly cursed the race weekend continued:

There more issues pretty much from the moment the lights went out.  First JJ Lehto from P5 stalled his Benetton on the grid and ended up getting rear ended by Pedro Lamy's Lotus.  Both driver's were fine but debris from the crash flew into the grandstands injuring 9 spectators.  This brought out the safety car for 5 laps.

Then on lap 7 at Tamburello, the unthinkable happens:

There is a bit of dispute about what exactly happened and I will discuss both but first I'll go over the details that are not under dispute.  Ayrton Senna driving for Williams qualified on pole, after the earlier incidents he continued round the track until lap 7 on the exit of Tamburello Corner where he crashed into the barrier.  A piece of the suspension assembly punctured his chassis and hit his helmet rendering him unconscious.  Marshalls rushed to the scene followed shortly by the medical car and it's doctor, the late Professor Sid Watkins but there was little they could do.  Senna was air lifted to hospital but pronounced dead several hours later.

At the time Tamburello was a very fast but pretty straight forward corner.  It's not the sort of place you would expect even an amateur driver, let alone a 3 time world champion considered one the most talented to ever it to make a mistake.  It had to be some other external factor(s), and this is where the contention comes in.  It was discovered that the steering column in the Williams had snapped.  In the official report it is claimed that this broke at the impact with the wall and the cause of the crash was the floor bouncing into kerb on the inside of the corner causing the car to launch forward uncontrollably into the wall.  However, others have always insisted the steering column broke before impact, was the root cause of the crash and Williams covered it up.  I'll let you judge for yourselves:

Even after this Imola 94 wasn't quite done being Imola 94.  The race restarted then ten laps before the end Michele Alboreto's Minardi lost a wheel in the pits which rolled down injuring 4 mechanics.  A fitting end to a fucking perfect day...

    RIP Roland Ratzenberger
    RIP Ayrton Senna

Well if you made it through all that thank you very much for reading.

Well neither of these controllers weigh even close to that much, maybe 200 - 300g.  More to the point the I have to agree with @Yaramaki, the PS3 Sixaxis controller felt flimsy and cheap.  The PS3 was originally going to launch with this monstrosity:

But this "Boomerang" design was unsurprisingly panned by journalists who got their hands on demo models.  In response Sony, no doubt pressed for time, just took their 10 year old DualShock design, hap-hazardly added motion controls because Wii and made out of plastic so thin it was transparent!

Sony did eventually improve on the design with the DualShock 4 then later DualSense but even a PlayStation fan I have to admit the Xbox controllers were better...  Unless your talking about the Duke 🤮:

I second this @Justin11. It's OK that you don't have a full scope of the situation with regard to the resignation of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. It is even OK to not really care either, but if wish to contribute to conversation at hand, actually have something to say. For the second time in about 12 hours, I'm telling you if you have nothing to say, say nothing! If you insist on contributing to the conversation, do a little research to develop at at least some understanding of what's going so you can formulate an opinion and then, and I mean ONLY then, express it. If putting that bare minimum effort of is not worth it to you, then why would a post where you couldn't be bothered to make that bare minimum of effort be worth it to us?

And frankly @Reality vs Adventure, I could say the same thing to you. Especially as the author of the thread, I would expect a lot better than this. No article, not so much as a basic description of what happened nor even a detailed opinion. Sadly, I've come to expect such a half-arsed effort from @Justin11, but this is really disappointing coming from you. @Crazycrab has already done your job for you and went through the basics about what happened and his effort is only reason I'm keeping this thread open. I may have deleted the thread entirely if it wasn't for him.

I'll add here an article from what something I would consider a neutral news source to provide some more details. From Sky News

My two cents? It was time for him to go. There had been two many missteps with things like party-gate, controversial policies set forth by his administration and what I would describe at best as a slow response to the cost of living crisis. He was not the PM and his was not the government we needed anymore. I don't have anything against the guy, but I don't think history is going to regard him that fondly.

British politics is not the binary two party system that's in America.  There are multiple political parties which different ideologies that sit in different places scale of left and right.  Boris Johnson is outgoing leader of the... I'd say middle (not extreme) right Conservative Party, but most of the scandals and controversies around his tenure have had very little to do with his politics.  If we kept every other factor the same but instead Boris Johnson was the leader of the rival left wing Labor Party it wouldn't have made any difference.  So for your sake please don't embarrass yourself by turning this into a "right wing" conspiracy because it really isn't.

It's been a long line of I'd say relatively minor scandals, at least when compared to America.  There's two that are significant.  The first was "Partygate" when he and his ministers were hosting parties and other social gatherings during the pandemic when everyone else was in lockdown.  This lead to confidence vote in June which Boris Johnson just barely survived.

Then there's the latest one with the (now former of course) Chief Deputy Whip Chris Pincher.  Before Pincher was appointed by Boris Johnson to this position he had been accused of sexual misconduct.  I should state for the record I don't know if he was guilty but it doesn't matter.  The issue that has now forced Johnson and the majority of his cabinet to resign is that when accusations where recently published in the tabloids Boris Johnson claimed that he didn't know about them, then a letter leaked out that proved that he did.  He reportedly even made a joke about it once saying "Pincher by name, pincher by nature!".

Personally I kinda liked Boris, even though I don't agree with his most of his politics.  He's certainly a character, witty and charismatic.  I thought "Partygate" was kinda petty and blown out of be proportion.  I agree that he and his ministers should have been following the rules instead of chucking back pints in Number 10 but I know lots of people that didn't especially at Christmas and New Year.  The latest one with Chris Pincher does bother me more, that's him just streight up lying to our faces and that's not acceptable.

I'll give you the basic run down.  After the success of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag in 2012 , Ubisoft made a decision that seemed to be a great idea at the time which was to flesh this aspect out into it's own full release.  Naturally to execute this the contracted the studio responsible for the naval combat sections in both Assassin's Creed III and IV, Ubisoft Singapore.

Although the studio had been around for a few years developing remakes and parts of other original AAA Ubisoft titles, they had no experience of being the lead developer on new game.  Despite this there be was initially a lot excitement for this project.

You can check out the videos and associated articles for more details but long story short the project was mismanaged.  It's gone through different directors, different concepts, multiplayer, single player, RPG, Live service and so on.  It has been delayed, ripped up and rebuilt multiple times and in my opinion on the only reason it wasn't cancelled outright was because to much time and money had already been invested in it.

This could have been something special.  Technically it could still be and we'll have to wait for the final release to pass judgement but we have seen in the past when development is a misery, the end result isn't good either.

Agreed, the whole Aminus thing always felt unnecessary to me.  I don't think I have ever gave a fraction of a shit about the characters or story arc's that surround it. They have thankfully been marginalising it with later releases but they really should just get rid of it completely as far as I'm concerned.

I never played the original game, but I heard it has a huge cult following and has a lot of fans. And from what I hear it's a pretty decent game. Now, there is word that a remake is coming. This is why I like remakes, only when they focus on a game that came out 10 years ago. Not these remakes that are dropping 2-4 years after release. Anyway, is this a buy for you? I may eventually check it out.

Well , this documentary only highlighted a few parts of Africa and this doesn't justify anything as there are still places even in the United States that are considered as slums with people living on the streets and various other social amenities are lacking, though I know Africa as a continent isn't as developed as some other continents but if big industries and companies like AAA aren't coming to Africa how would this development spread. We have a lot of promising businesses, well known companies that are taking over the world which emanated from Africa. Things are bad here but don't only rely on what one YouTuber looking for views tells you.

@Yaramaki I understand your suggestion. I am going to brainstorm a solution where users who have made X amount of MEANINGFUL posts and/or have been a member at VGR for X amount of time period have the ability to edit posts for more than 10 minutes. Basically this feature would only be available to those who are considered valued contributors of the forum (which I would categorize you in).

What @Crazycrab have said around African continent is the fucking truth. Africa is kinda large continent, but they've failed to capture the eyes of the video game companies establishing branch in various countries in Africa. I believe it is matter of time and Africa will become an attractive option for video game environment.

I think one thing that people oddly don't seem to take into account is that Africa is a big fucking place!  It's a massive continent that's got significant geographical, economic and political diversity.  Most of us ignorent European's and American's are aware of that there is a clear difference between France and Germany but seem to assume little to no difference between Uganda and Kenya despite that geographically they sit pretty similar.

I'm a subject of this ignorance to but I am able to observe the attitude thay many people observe that the problems that affect "Africa" apply to the whole continent rather than individual countries and regions.  South Africa is a very well developed region that actually DOES have some game studios like Clockwork Acorn, and there are others that starve in poverty.

If we want to address problems in "Africa", I think the first thing we need to do is address them as problems in Uganda, Rawanda, Angola, Zimbabwe, Somalia........

I don't want to wear glasses to watch a movie. And If I already wore glasses for my vision, I sure as hell wouldn't want to add another pair on top of those. I can think of exactly one move in my entire life that truly benefited from 3D, and that's Gravity. Most movies just don't need 3D, so it's not worth the hassle as a viewer.
I think if 3D movies make any kind of comeback, it'll be in VR.

We just got some interesting information about the Horizon Netflix Series.  It actually going to be set in 2047 hence it's title, Horizon 2047.

    https://comicbook.com/gaming/amp/news/horizon-zero-dawn-netflix-tv-series-report/

This is interesting because not only does it mean that it's it set about 1000 years before the events of Horizon Zero Dawn, but looking at the timeline, It's about 17 years before the Faro Plague, Operation Enduring Victory and the Zero Dawn Project.

2047 is just before Elisabet Sobeck leaves Faro Automated Systems after their switch from Green Robotics to Military Systems, so my guess is the show's focus is starting from there then moving through to the events of Faro Plague?  There doesn't seem to be much happening at the point that's directly relevant to the events of the games.

I'd say GoldenEye on N64.   Don't get me wrong I love and respect the hell out of this game, I played it religiously as a kid.  I was actually something of GoldenEye ace back on in the day.  It presented the first person shooter on a home console in a way that absolutely revolutionised the game for console based shooters.

However in this day and age where we have been spoiled with twin sticks it's borderline unplayable now.  The controls by modern standards are incredibly awkward.
