Patrik reacted to staticradio725 in Are games ever going to be so photorealistic they're confused with real life?
Absolutely. I was playing Mass Effect: Andromeda once, and my mother happened to stop by. She's not a gamer at all, and she was like, "Wow, these graphics are amazing!" And I was like, "Really? Because people actually complained about them when this game was first released lol."

Rockstar, EA or Ubisoft, atleast these won't disappear after a while like unfortunately happened to lot of companies and games publishers ;(

Patrik reacted to Empire in Has a PC game ever blew up your PC?
Even so, end of the day PC has come a very long way and most PC can handle it even if it's too much on the system. If you where to game heavy on a 20 year old PC then you are crazy.
They have safety corridors built-in 🙂 If the CPU overheats too much your CPU fun will spine faster and soon enough your PC willfully go off. Won't get fired bang or catch on fire, just goes off and your screen goes black. Just turn it on again and loads up.
Did that once, installed my CPU and then turn it on without the cooler, lasted 30secs before it went off again. Same with the CPU cooler powered up connected but CPU heated up so fast it shuts off.

The white Arabian in RDR2. She's fast as hell, high stamina, and beautiful. The only downside is that she's panicky and dumb as a fucking rock.

The best era was back when companies weren't greedy and trying to milk every possible cent out of the players, that's why we had more enjoyable games than we currently do :(

Finally someone sharing the same opinion as mine, i never liked the remake at all, maybe if you consider it as a whole other game then yes, it should be fine, but it shouldn't be called a remake for the original game at all, they just ruined everything and you don't feel like playing the original game at all.
Ridiculous voice actors, modified storyline events, modified map...

Patrik reacted to Shagger in Do you struggle to keep up with the storylines of some games?
Both @Patrik and @StaceyPowers have been referencing open word games in this thread, and honesty, I think that's a little unfair because these types of games by their nature get can't tell their stories in the same purposefully structured and deliberately paced manner a more liner game can. There are open world games that make it work, but they usually do so by barring of side activities and side stories from the main story in a very rigid manner and telling a less complex story that's easier to relate to. So I admire game companies who create open world games that do try to blur those lines between side quests and main story a little and try to tell a more challenging story.

It's actually good too for the companies, because when some people explore a certain game as a demo and play few missions, they will love to continue the game, which means they will buy it (if it's any good)

Patrik reacted to Shagger in Do you play Call of Duty on PC or console?
Some people prefer the feel and connection of a controller, a device made and developed over decades for the exclusive purpose for controlling a video game, as opposed to the mouse and keyboard, devices made to replace the typewriter that gamers and developers adapted to. Why is it that PC fanboys can't leave their entitled arrogance on the back burner for one moment and answer that question themselves because it's actually very simple. Personal preference.

Yes, M/K is more accurate, but by that logic people shouldn't be using touch screen to aim and fire a gun in an FPS? Just just touch the screen whare the player your shooting is at and there you go, but it's kind of a detach from reality. That's why I never play and competitive FPS on PC and never will. With a user interface that's all about winning, that makes the game all about winning, and nothing else. Yes, dual analogue is less accurate, but it's also closer to the reel feel of using a weapon, making the experience more immersive and enjoyable for me. So, go ahead and revel in fact you can point and click faster than I can actually AIM something, because I don't care. I'm not saying that a gamepad truly reflects how a real assault rifle feels either, but with triggers and vibration it's at least closer than rested hands pressing keys on a keyboard and clicking a mouse.

If the only reason you're playing a multiplayer game, if the only joy it offers, is through winning, then consider the possibility that maybe it's not a very good game.

I know exactly what you're talking about. More often than not, I'm thinking about CTB. Obviously I haven't done it. Yet. When I get into that state of mind though, I don't want to do anything.

If the passengers are the ones who're playing, then it shouldn't be a big deal, but there some few things that might make it dangerous, sometimes the driver might want to do a sneak peek or sometimes passengers pay attention to something in the road that the driver might not pay attention to

Patrik reacted to Crazycrab in Mouse and keyboard or gamepad?
Controllers have existed in some in form or another in arcades and early consoles at a time when keyboards where mostly seen on typewriters and the mouse wasn't even invented.  The mouse and keyboard are peripherals that were designed with work, not gaming in mind.  It's something that people and game design have adapted to over the years whereas the gamepad is purpose designed.  So I don't see your logic with regard to using a gamepad as a recent "mobile gaming" trend.

I understand even less why people using gamepads would even "annoy" you.  It seems obvious to me that if someone buys a game and have a choice of peripherals they can use whatever they want to get the best enjoyment out of it.  If the game requires the use of a peripheral or device that they don't like using then they simply don't buy that particular game.  What's the problem?

I know that I (FPS and RTS games aside) generally prefer a controller, even on PC but if someone else prefers a keyboard and mouse for the Assassin's Creed I don't care.  Use whatever you want, this argument is ridiculous.

Yeah, as interesting as a game boy game can be, considering the limitations.
I don't look at ebay for pricing, as the prices are heavily inflated because people think they have something worth more than it really is. If I really want to grab a game boy, I'd look at thrift stores, game shops that specialize in the sale of retro games and consoles and so on. You're bound to get a much better deal, unless they look at ebay and price that way. First key, don't use ebay to find your price. Use something like pricecharting, as you'll at least get a better picture of what it's going for on every site.

Patrik reacted to The Blackangel in What video game character broke your heart?
Lenny says it in RDR2. Granted he's black and the context wasn't in anger. He was talking to Arthur and mentioned that due to them being friends people might call him "a nigger lover". The game takes place in 1899, so I guess the script writers put things like that in there for added realism. There are also more times that I have bothered to count the use of the word "darkies" in the game. It goes to show how much things have evolved from then to now. Granted there are still racists and racist groups, but they're mostly inbred trash that couldn't tell a tree from a truck, so I don't give them any notice until they give me notice. Then I tazer them.
