  1. I think the absolute highlight of the need for speed series was during the ps2 area, you had underground 1 and 2 which at the time meanly captured on the Fast and furious craze but damn 17-18 year old me spent way too much time on both of those games i'd say these games are still worth a play these days. Man Tuned cars were the thing amongst young adults back then, oh how time has changed. Most wanted is a classic imo aswell but you should play that version on the 360 as it is much much better then the ps2 version
  2. Offcourse it was a fun area, things were different then they are now but hell i spent many hours deep into the night playing ps1 and saturn on a small crt tv in my bedroom at my parents place without having to give a single fuck about anything. Nowadays that's kinda different, ah the enjoyment of being an adult haha.
  3. You do have to admit that many of those (early) 3d games on the ps1, saturn, n64 and whatever else console there was have aged badly. If you diden't experience those system when they were around i can imagine it will be hard for somebody to get into.
  4. Don't really know what to call it so it will have to do for now. As title says and i won't deny it i like to collect and buy videogames, most forums i used to visit were collector based so they all had these sort of threads so here we go, post video game and video game related stuff you bought, pictures are a must imo so we know what you are talking about. Pretty much anything goes aslong it's somewhat related to video games. It would be cool if we could get a thread and conversation going about pick ups. As for myself i kind off went on a bargain hunting spree for current gen games the past week orso, some games i really wanted to play but diden't want to pay full price and a few i toke a chance on because they looked interesting. Grid legends is the only game i paid full price for. I'm normally more of a collector for the older stuff but you'll find that out pretty soon. I've got about 50 more games i picked up the past few weeks just waiting on a few more packages to post those.
  5. Lichdom Battlemage -> I have had this game sitting sealed on my shelf for years, it looked interesting and was cheap so i picked it up, kind off wondering what you thought about to deem it unplayable?

    CTR

Man i almost sound like a proper nerd for replying to all these threads, but yes i did also play this one, altough i did not own it myself well until years later. Ctr was a big deal for sony because surely while there were then enough mario kart clones, this was the only game that could come close to mario kart 64. While i woulden't put it into my top 10 ps1 games, it was fun enough where i beat the entire game, pretty sure that i still have a save file on memory card somewhere that proves that. I never bothered with the recent remake, i have a sealed copy of the game though that i bought cheap but i don't know i feel like i'm getting to old for cart racers.
  7. my nephew had this on nintendo 64 so this is were i played it, i don't know since i can't remember much from it, pretty sure it was another generic uninspired 3d beat em up like so many games at the time. But like with any beat em up no matter how bad it is, it's always fun to play it together with somebody on the cough.
  8. I only played the first one on ps1, pretty sure it was developed by the same people who did the tony hawk series. Can't remember much about to be honest, i think stan lee himself did voice over for the game. Pretty sure it got positive reviews otherwise i woulden't have bothered. I know there was a second game on the ps1 but i never got to play that.
  9. Yeah i did, summer 1999 i had decent enough grades and my parents promised me that i was allowed to buy 2 new ps1 games driver was one them i got alongside V-rally 2. The tutorial was brutal, man how much i struggled with that, luckly there was a guide included in the official playstation magazine a month orso later on how to complete it. Pretty sure i still know how to complete it haha. The game was ground breaking for the time it was like nothing i had seen before being able to drive around a big city and let's be honest the 4 cities were fairly large for the time, ever when i see people saying driver is just another gta clone, i'm shaking my head in disbelieve like driver pretty much laid the foundation for modern open world games. What else do i remember oh yeah the last couple of missions were next to impossible to complete, i got extremely lucky with the last mission were you have to drive the president because every cop seems to have it out for you. Offcourse you could always use cheats but who did that right 😉 Driver 2 was on even better game, where you could walk around and take any car you wanted, the cities were more varied aswell but this topic is about driver 1 so i'll end my ramble here.
  10. I believe there were 5 need for speed games on the ps1 if memory serves me correct. I played the first and second years later after they were released so can't really form a honest oppinion on those. I did borrow need for speed 3 from a classmate a few times and beat the game, diden't really think much off it to be honest, the hot pursuit mode was introduced and from there it toke off, let me say i've never been a fan off the cops vs you type of gameplay and i'll mostlikely never will. it was a decent arcade racer but that's that, i know some people really like that game and have fond memories off, it did have a imo now legendary cover art. Need for speed road challenge/high stakes i did own during my teens and played a lot and i mean a lot, probably my favourite in the need for speed series if you would ask me, the game kind of went back to it's roots and was more focussed on racing luxery cars then anything else. Sure there was a hot pursuit mode and you could plays as a cop this time but like i said it's was fun for a few hours and that's it. The racing and the tracks were varied from city's /forests/ snow/etc, what was really cool for the time is that traffic was different on each track. Need for speed porsche i think came out in 2000, i also had this one. Game was more focussed on racing then anything else, the porsche career mode was really cool and you really felt like you were in the 50 ies when you started racing some of porsche earlier cars. Wish i could say more but it's been a lifetime ago since i played this game.
  11. Lol from software has been pretty much making dark souls games and a few spin offs like elden ring and bloodborne/sekiro since 2010, while i won't deny these games are all classics in their own rights, they are following the same concept. How is that innovative?
  12. I don't know but underrated to me is something that is good but is likely going to be overlooked in time as time passes on will be more appreciated. GT 7 is not one of those games, were did i even bring this up that GT7 would be an underrated game. Yeah i know but did you even read what i wrote before making a comment, GT 7 came out March 4, Grid legends came out February 25th.
  13. I can already list one for 2022 -> Grid Legends , seriously whoever tought it was a great idea to release this a week before gran turismo 7 should get their head checked.
  14. -Escort missions ,especially when the ai of the npc you're supposed to escort is trash. I'm looking at you resident evil -Stealth/follow/chase missions in open world games, remember the chase missions where you need to chase someone unseen in assasins creed -> yep those.
  15. It's declining i'd say, the problem is that not that many big publishers are willing to take a risk on something innovative/new. Clearly the most innovative devs are the ones creating smaller indie games, sometimes it's a hit or a stinker but many innovation and creative ideas these days comes from smaller studios.
  16. I woulden't call it revolution since it was inevitable but a lot of indie games are just way better then your average triple a game, better ideas, better story telling, not many big publisher are willing to take a risk anymore. Other then that dare i say the jump from ps3 to ps4 wasen't that big, yeah it may look nicer and the worlds may be bigger but is that a good thing euhm i don't know. A game is almost never finished when it launches these days wherest in the early ps3 lifecycle devs atleast made an attempt to finish their games.
  17. Kind off ironic when you look at it today many 16 bit 2d games have hold up way better then any off the 3d games on ps1/n64.
  18. Short answer because i was forced to and diden't have really have any other choice. The saturn was on it's way out and pretty much dead by the end of 1998 (in europe) and the nintendo 64 diden't seem like a wise choice given the ps1 had so much more to offer and all my friends had one so i had to jump ship. I'd probaly be still supporting sega if they would still made consoles anno 2022.
  19. I'd go with Street fighter 2 anybody who grew up in the early 90 ies was all over that game, kids would start imitating various character moves (i know i did) there was a real hype surrounding that game, the fact that game has stayed relevant for 30 years says it all. The whole cast of characters still to this day remain one of the most iconic gaming characters ever. Ask none gaming people what street fighter they mostlikely know that it is a video game.
  20. @Kane99 guessing this is what you are looking for, i may pick it myself : The Game Console 2.0: A Photographic History from Atari to Xbox by evan amos
  21. Yeah i still bother with games for gold, i don't play online but for the 60 bucks a year i still get my money's worth of "free" games. I also rather have them giving away smaller indie digital only titles then bigger titles to be honest, because i don't really buy digital games.
  22. Do Football fans really have any other choice no, their only competitor konami has fucked up their pes series so bad they most likely won't recover from that.
  23. Gta trilogy likely still sold a ton of copies despite it's supposed to be garbage, still need to try it out myself so i don't know if it's as bad as people say.
  24. It's also one of the reasons why they should have delayed next gen consoles for a year orso to have more stock when the consoles launched. Stores should have handled the selling of consoles better and limited it to one per customer, deleting orders from people who bought more then one would also kinda helped. I don't know it's what they want us to believe i guess, for all i care they are out of screws or somthing, everithing is delayed pretty much and it's all covid's fault. I'm still waiting on a goddamn cough and it's 6 months since i've ordered it, the only explination i get -> covid delayed everithing.
  25. Did they ever fixed the cop ai in nfs heat? I've been meaning to pick nfs heatup for a while, but i'm not really huge on the cop chases anymore, it's been overdone ea should come up with fresh for a change.
