  1. Cloud gaming is only good if you have a good internet connection. I think cloud gaming is terrible right now, but in the future it will be better as our internet speeds continue to increase. Where I live I can't rely on cloud based games, my connection just isn't that good. Just look at Stadia, it's dead now. I'm not sure how well Amazon's service, Luna does.
  2. I started playing Tomb Raider (1996) again though this time I'm playing the PC version instead of the Playstation version. There's not much difference, other than better graphics and the ability to save where ever you want instead of only saving when you find Save Crystals. I've been meaning to get some Tomb Raider Level Edits downloaded and playing a bunch of different TR mods.

    The Wii U

I got a Wii U brand new a few years after it was released. I though it was cool at the time, if someone in your family wanted to use the TV but you wanted to keep playing your game you could just play it via the gamepad. I just feel like it's name really made sales worse than they could have been. After the huge success of the Wii, it's a shame the Wii U couldn't be as good as it's predecessor.
  4. I hope they don't go down this route. I prefer physical media, but it is probably much cheaper to make all digital consoles. I am not only a gamer but I'm a collector and think it's cool to have physical media that you can see and fire up anytime you feel like it without needing a internet connection to play the game. (Unless the game makes you get online...)
  5. Those Genesis Atgames clones were terrible. They had poor sound emulation so it's no wonder why many people didn't like them nor bought them up. Thankfully Sega made two mini versions of the Genesis, though they can't play actual cartridges like the Shatgames consoles. Plus since these new ones offer better emulation, you can hack them and add your own games. I think you can even add different emulators too.
  6. I prefer horizontal but with my new tv I have to have my PS5 stand vertical otherwise it won't fit on my entertainment center. At least it has a stand, though with it's odd design it needs a stand otherwise it can't lay vertical. :V Even when I had an original PS2 model I never had it vertical, I always think consoles look better lying horizontal.
  7. Just the other day there have been rumors going around that Sony may be making a new portable console. With numerous PC companies making their own handhelds, it wouldn't surprise me if Sony wants to try their hand at the handheld market again. Though if they do so, hopefully they'll do something more with it unlike what they did with the Vita. I feel there was such missed potential with the Vita, Sony just didn't do anything really with it... I'm not sure how they can do things differently than other companies though...
  8. It depends on which game I am in the mood to play. I've got a PS5 as well as a gaming rig and a gaming laptop too. So if my spouse wishes to use the rig, I can just use our laptop or PS5. I also own a Switch and a Xbox One S, I want to eventually upgrade to a Series X at some point. My current gaming rig is a Acer Nitro N50-64 with 32 gigs of ram installed, a 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400F with a GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. I also own older consoles too, so if I feel like playing a retro game without recording footage I'll fire up one of my other consoles. Right now I've got my PS2 hooked up on my other tv, with my PS5 and Switch hooked up to my main tv. I'm not biased when it comes to gaming. 😛
  9. I've never really been interested in Macbooks or Mac computers. My best friend growing up always favored Mac over PC, but she's recently made the switch to PC and doesn't bother with Apple products anymore. I think they're just too expensive, and honestly better suited for multimedia projects such as video editing and music producing. (Though honestly you can do pretty cool stuff on PC if you've got the tools to do so.) Plus most programs used to work on Sonic hacking is made with Windows and Linux in mind, not really Mac.
  10. Pokemon games have definitely become much easier these past two generations. I'm not just saying that because I've been playing since I was a kid and know the type matchups by heart, the last two generations automatically gave the player experience share and you can't even turn that feature off. In the older games, you'd have to train every single Pokemon in your party by switching them out until you obtained the experience share item. (Or experience all in the first generation games.) Not only that, but the old version of the experience share was a held item, meaning only one Pokemon could get extra experience and not you're entire party like in newer games. I get that I'm not the targeted audience of the games, they've always been targeted towards children but I remember struggling with the Gen 1, 2 and 3 games as a child. (I was 19 when I first played Gen 4 and I turned 20 the year Gen 5 came out so I was already a young adult during these generation releases...) Cynthia is a pain in the rear to beat, she's literally the only trainer I've struggled with recently while playing the Gen 4 remakes. I haven't played really much of the other Nintendo franchises, so I don't have much to say about them...
  11. I've been thinking about speed running either Generation 1 of Pokemon or maybe one of the Genesis Sonic titles. I probably will start with a glitchless run, especially since Sonic requires some pixel perfect skips to get zips to work. With Pokemon it's a lot more RNG manipulation and specifically following certain paths and catching specific Pokemon. I just don't really have too much time to practice speedrunning currently.
  12. I wonder if E3 is going to eventually come back? Probably not, seeing how the last time the event was held was in 2021 and it was online only. E3 had it's purpose when it first came out, but I feel that it's just not as cool as it once was. I remember being a teenager and always wanting to go to E3, but I just don't feel that thrilled by the event anymore. I knew once the major companies backed out it was going to be canceled. You can't have a successful event if major companies like Nintendo aren't going to be there.
  13. My main favorite thing about the Xbox line of consoles is the backwards compatibility function. Plus I love Game pass, and honestly I feel that PS+ isn't as good as Game Pass. I don't know if the Xbox line of consoles will be around next generation though, since Game Pass is available on PC now and it seems to have affected console sales. I do love that Microsoft allows it's users to use dev mode to add their own games and emulators to the system. (Though I think recently there was a legal issue with Nintendo on that and I'm not sure if emulators are still easily accessible on the Series X...)
  14. I highly doubt the PS5 is going to be Sony's last console. They've always have higher sales than the Xbox, so if anything Microsoft may drop their consoles in the future. Sony does extremely well in Japan, in fact the PS5 outsold the Switch there which is huge! Nintendo consoles always come up on top mostly in Japan. The console market is huge, and yes many people prefer to game on their PCs these days but there are still die hard fans who stick to the Playstation brand over everything else.
  15. I do own quite a few retro consoles, however I don't have a capture card to record footage on, so I mainly resort to using emulators for my Youtube channel. I have Retroarch installed on my computer along with a few other stand alone emulators mainly for debugging purposes whenever I work on my Sonic hacking projects. Retroarch is great since it emulates so many different platforms, want to play PS2 games? There's a core for that! Wish to play Atari 2600 games too? Retroarch is there, no need to download a bunch of different emulators! You can easily install new cores from Retroarch's interface too. Emulation is the future, things don't last forever so we need to preserve video games and emulation.
  16. I try not to keep my laptop plugged in all the time. Though the one I main use now is going on three years old, and the battery life isn't that great. The battery stays good for a few hours at most if I'm not playing any games. I recently just got a new desktop and will probably end up gaming more on that then my laptop now.
  17. Games are definitely a great way to distract you from traumatic events going on in your life. Honestly any time I would hear my parents argue when I was growing up, I'd go and play my Playstation to distract myself. Gaming is the best way of escaping from real life's struggles in my opinion. Though of course you might not want to play violent games if you're sensitive to violence and if that's what's been causing your trauma.
  18. I just got the idea of seeing a mix of mini-games based on numerous Stephen King movies. Say if a game was based around Pet Sematary, it'd be one where you have to hide from Gage or Ellie if you're wanting to make a game based on the remake. For IT, you could play as one of the kids and explore a sewage system to defeat Pennywise. There's many other Stephen King films that can be added to the mix as well.
  19. Sonic 3 and Knuckles is one of the games I can continue to come back to and never get tired of it. Likewise with Generation 1 of Pokemon. It's funny since Gen 3 is my favorite, but I find myself going back to Gen 1 more often than the other generations for some reason. Legend of Legaia is another title I see myself coming back to constantly, I really wish this game would get a remake someday. 😞
  20. For me it's definitely Mighty No. 9. I had hoped this would indeed be an amazing Mega Man successor, since at the time the game was announced Capcom had stopped making Mega Man titles. I backed the project and even made a community that was open to everyone, not just the backers of the project and it was created before the official forums were launched. The project was doing well until Keiji Inafune started getting ideas of making an animated series based on the game, and wasting money towards that goal rather than just focusing on the game...
  21. I highly recommend getting a Everdrive for your SNES. You can play numerous ROM hacks and region locked games too, plus if you wish to develop your own rom hacks or games you'll have a way to test them on actual hardware! I wish the North American controller had the colored buttons like the PAL and Japanese controllers did. The console design looks cool, I like the NA design better.
  22. I honestly prefer to own physical copies of games. There's just something nice about having a bunch of physical games on a shelf that you have access to whenever you feel like playing it. It's much faster to install newer games via disc rather than downloading the game, especially if you don't have the greatest internet connection or don't have any means of having a wired connection.
  23. I think they would probably be intrigued into what we were doing. Like Kyng said above, if they were real they'd probably need leisure time just like us. They'd probably have way better technology than we do and probably have video games embedded in their brains. 😛
  24. Retro Gamer is still in publication, though it's a UK based magazine. Also as it's name states, it mainly focuses on talking about retro games rather than modern ones. I wish I kept all my Nintendo Power magazines in good condition when I was a kid, most of them were falling apart prior to me throwing them away right before I moved out of my parent's house. Those would have probably been worth something if I took care of them...
  25. I have a few streaming applications installed on my PS5 and Xbox One S. I currently no longer use them on my consoles since I have a Roku tv now. I just haven't gotten around to deleting the apps off my PS5 yet. :V Prior to getting my Roku TV for Christmas, I had a basic HDMI tv from 2014 so I didn't have any easy means to stream anything until I got my Xbox One S.
